1983 Porsche 930 Turbo on 2040-cars

What you have here is an almost 100% original 1983 Porsche 930 turbo for sale (VIN WP0ZZZ93ZDS000708) which was imported from Germany in 1984. This car was originally imported to Portland Oregon in by the owner of an import/export business. This gentleman owned the car for years until he passed away and it was inherited by his nephew who held onto it in Portland for a couple of years. Eventually, it was purchased by Loren Beggs from 911design in Montclair CA. 911Design is one of the premier Porsche shops in California, just do a search on the Pelican Parts message board or look him up online. Loren was up in Portland for a race and was told about a car that was for sale and that he should have a look at. After reviewing the car he agreed to buy it and drove the car from Portland to his shop in Montclair CA 3 years ago. He said it ran like a top the whole way down. Loren bought it because of what incredible shape the interior of the car was in. Upon examining the car he noticed that the paint was in bad shape and he slowly began restoring it as a shop project (at that time it had 89,599 miles on it). I saw him post the restoration on his site and went to check out his shop because I knew I was going to be in the market for a 930 later in the year and I wanted to see what kind of work he did. That is how I was introduced to the car 1/2 way through the build when I realized no one owned it. I fell in love with it and purchased the car as it was being restored. This car has a fully rebuilt motor including rebuilt heads,
new bearings, timing chain tensioner, cams, and new fasteners. I
have the build list and you can see the process in the photos. The transmission was also rebuilt with brand new synchros
for all gears. The car was then fully stripped down to bare metal,
prepped/primed, wet sanded, and sprayed the original color in their state of
the art newly installed paint booth (no I don't work for them but their shop is insane). I took delivery of the car and had 911Design do the break-in
oil change and initial valve adjustment. As of this writing the car has 94,339
miles on it and I have changed the oil since the initial break in. The Good? The interior is in excellent shape. Very
minor wear to the leather and few scratches. Seat bolsters are in great shape
as well as the carpet, new headliner. It’s just beautiful on the inside and that Porsche smell
is still there. The engine is barely broken in as well as the tranny. The paint
as well is just beautiful. EVERYTHING WORKS. All switches, lights etc. It also
comes with 4 new tires with less than 2000 miles on them. It’s start on the
first crank and purrs like a kitten. The Bad: So what’s wrong with it? Nothing really. It tracks
dead nuts straight when you take your hand off the wheel on the highway. There
is a slight creak in the drivers door over bumps but that’s it.
Tranny synchros are not even worn in so 1st can be testy at times
but you just have to double clutch every once and while and it slides home.
There are 2-3 very small hits in the paint on the front bumper from small rocks
and a very light scratch in the hood clear coat which can buff out (it's about 5 inches long and only visible in sunlight at the right angle). So why am I selling it? Well, I’m remodeling my house and
the wife wants a back yard. What can I say? I have also discovered that I want
something a little more track oriented. The car is so nice and original I just
didn’t feel right strapping all the go fast goodies to it. There are tons of
cars out there like that but very few unmolested originals. I’m going to get
something a bit cheaper that I can thrash at the track and not freak out about
getting a scratch on. Also, I threw my knee out and am in physical therapy so
driving a clutch is not as fun as it used to be. So mostly original? What does that mean? It means the only non-stock item on the car is an aftermarket exhaust with no catalytic converter. I do have the catalytic converter that it was federalized with but understand depending on the emission laws of your state you might need to purchase an additional muffler to attach to the catalytic converter. This cat looks thicker than stock one so a stock 930 muffler won’t fit I don’t think. For CA buyers I will put the cat back on and get it smogged for you, but once it’s smogged I will have to put the non-smog muffler back on it. I am open to a pre-purchase inspection by a
reputable Porsche mechanic at the conclusion of the auction. This would be paid
for by the winning bidder and be a reasonable distance away (25 miles or so). |

2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed statue unveiled
Thu, 11 Jul 2013Each year at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, a single marque is celebrated with a large and ornate "Central Feature" sculpture, with recent automakers including Audi in 2009, Alfa Romeo in 2010, Jaguar in 2011 and Lotus last year. This year, Porsche gets the honor, and it is using the opportunity to commemorate 50 years of the 911.
The sculpture features three generations of the 911 towering over the Goodwood House. The most recent 991 911 has the lowest position, with an original 1963 car second highest and a 1973 2.7 RS at the top of the pile. Be sure to check out the sculpture for yourself in the gallery of images above.
Porsche celebrates Le Mans return with Martini edition 911
Tue, 10 Jun 2014If we've said it once, we've said it a hundred times - but we'll gladly say it again: there are few racing liveries as iconic as Martini. And while those stripes have adorned countless Lancia and Ford rally cars, grand prix racers (like the latest Williams) and even speedboats, they remain inexorably tied to Porsche. Fortunately that point is not lost on Porsche itself, which has lately put them on its own 918 Spyder, race-spec 911 and all manner of merchandise. And this is the latest.
To celebrate its return to Le Mans this year, Porsche Exclusive is offering this special Martini Racing Edition. It's based on the 911 Carrera S, which means the more potent 3.8-liter flat six with 400 horsepower, but upgrades, as you might have guessed, with a whole mess of Martini Racing stripes and logos, along with the Aerokit Cup front and rear spoilers. The badges and stripes abound inside as well, where you'll also find such optional extras as the Porsche Communication Management system, Bose audio and black leather electric sport seats.
Porsche is offering the 911 Carrera S Martini Racing Edition in either white or black, but unfortunately not in our market - just in Europe, China and Latin America. Those who miss out will (in certain markets anyway) be able to order the decal set separately though. Feel free to read more in the press release below.
Porsche teams with Delta airlines to woo VIP passengers
Sun, 15 Sep 2013The next time you're waiting for a flight at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, see if you can spot a Porsche Cayenne or Panamera zipping between aircraft on the busy tarmac. The high-performance German vehicles aren't there practicing for an upcoming autocross; they are tasked with whisking some of the airline's most important customers between flights so they can keep their busy schedules intact.
Launched nearly two years ago, the program has proven popular with the automaker, airline and passengers as all benefit from the unique arrangement. Atlanta-based Porsche is able to showcase its cars to Delta's frequent-flying Medallion members, the airline is recognized for providing unusual perks to its high-value customers and those fortunate enough to be surprised with a quick lift are able to make connections without a stressful run through the terminal. Based on its success, the airline is rolling our similar programs in New York, Los Angeles and Minneapolis this month.
And don't think Porsche is the only automaker working with an airline to entice its frequent flyers. Mercedes-Benz ran a program over the summer that offered purchasing and leasing incentives to MileagePlus Premier members of United Airlines, and the two are currently shuttling top fliers around Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport in the automaker's S-Class and GL-Class models.
