Selling my 1987 Porsche 928S4. This is basically a ONE OWNER car that was purchased in February of 2012 from the original owner in Texas. It was owned by a wealthy woman who bought it new for her 60th birthday! Car has original 43,XXX mileage. The car is in perfect running condition and drives like new, no rattles or shakes, accelerates great and stops perfectly straight. It is well equipped and does have the rare rear AC system.
Although it was always garaged and mileage is low, I have went through this entire car over the past year doing thousands of dollars worth of needed things, both cosmetically and mechanically. I have all the reciepts for the work performed and it has had all the major maintenance done such as timing belts and rollers, oil pan gasket, complete tune up, CV boots and other miscellaneous things. Additionally, I went through the interior, steering wheel has been restored(stitching let go), all seats reupholstered using highest materials from Classic 9(drivers seat was worn and couldn't match perfectly). Car is all stock with the exception of the stereo, it has been upgraded with an Alpine unit that is very correct looking along with the addition of an alpine amplifier and very nice high end speakers that fit perfectly in the factory locations and look correct using factory grills. Car presently has brand new 19" wheels and tires as you can see in the pictures. I also have the factory wheels which happen to be the rare factory chrome versions of the flat style wheels, tires are new on the factory wheels. Mechanically the car is 98% perfect, not that I know what the 2% is that it needs, but nothing is ever perfect. Cosmetically the car is 95% perfect on the exterior, one or two minor blemishes/scratches as you might suspect, the interior is 95% perfect as well, the only thing that doesn't look "new" is the dash which does have small cracks but nothing that distracts from the cars overall quality.
I presently have a moderate car collection which includes amongst other cars, three Porsches. If I were to compare this car to a BRAND NEW car I would give the exterior a 7/10, interior 8/10 and mechanics a 9/10. Compared to other 928's of this vintage 1987-1990, this car is by far a superior example in terms of both overall condition and necessity for maintence and upkeep expenditures. As you likely know, you can buy one of these cars for $7k with 100k+ miles on it and then spend $5k+ to make it anything close to "nice", and you still have a car worth $8k because of the high mileage. I have spared no expense in buying, maintaning, restoring or anything for this car. Selling as I need to reduce the collection and focus on other priorities.
I will include the wheels on the car for $1000 over the high bid, tires were more than that alone. Please do not bid if you cannot afford the car, need to get approval from your wife, the Pope, and your bank to buy it!

Magnus Walker and Alex Ross stop by Leno's garage with their 997 GT2
Mon, Feb 9 2015The market is littered with Porsche 911 tuners, with names like 9ff, Gemballa and TechArt leading the field. Seldom do any two ever collaborate on a joint project, but that's just the kind of match that was made at Jay Leno's Garage. That's where Alex Ross of SharkWerks and restomodder Magnus Walker first met, sparking a collaboration that yielded the car you see here. And fittingly, they've brought it back to the garage to show off what resulted. Though Walker usually deals with older Elfens, this time he applied his eye for style on a more contemporary 2008 997 GT2, decking it out with grey stripes, orange bumpers, gold wheels and decals and a tartan-upholstered interior. He left the mechanical bits to Ross and company, who dropped the suspension and increased output to 650 horsepower at the wheels (775 at the crank), surpassing the stock GT2 and even the later GT2 RS. The result is pretty hard-core and old-school, but you'll want to watch the video above to see for yourself.
2016 Porsche Boxster Spyder First Drive [w/video]
Mon, Jul 13 2015The recipe for the 2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder cooked up a meal that everyone loved. Yes, even with the three-piece, Erector Set canvas top that took one journalist 30 minutes to lower the first time. Boiled down, the 2011 model was a Boxster S with 10 extra horsepower and 176 fewer pounds, graced with accelerated reflexes. For the second coming of the Boxster Spyder, Porsche fortified the ingredients it used in the first. It starts with the Boxster GTS and adds the 3.8-liter flat-six from the 911 Carrera S, tuned to 375 horsepower and 301 pound-feet of torque. The Spyder subtracts around 72 pounds compared to the Boxster GTS, weighing in at 2,899 pounds. This, then, is both the most powerful and the lightest Boxster you can get. For you fact-checkers out there, the entry-level Boxster is listed at 2,888 pounds on the Porsche USA site, but a spokesman points out that, "the metric for determining weight has changed, which increased the amount of fluids necessary to perform weight testing." In other words, the base Boxster is unchanged, but the real-world curb weight is actually higher. It's ridiculous to quibble over 11 pounds – or whatever the difference is – because the Boxster Spyder has 110 more horsepower and 96 more pound-feet than the base model. With a successful technique already established, we thought the latest Boxster Spyder would even more of a raucous and rowdy good time than its predecessor. But it's not. The standard Boxster Spyder doesn't come with manual A/C or a stereo, but both can be added for no additional cost. The exterior, at least, exhibits the right kind of maturity. Front and rear fascias swiped from the Cayman GT4 add 10 millimeters in length compared to other Boxsters. Those pieces make the car lighter, along with items like the aluminum doors and decklid. The bulges behind the roll hoops, called streamliners, are the can't-miss-it references to Porsche's historic and legendary Spyders. In case admirers still don't get it, Spyder badges sit atop each rear quarter panel. Inside, the leather, body-colored trim, and copious amount of Alcantara is like a track-day package arranged by Prada. The steering wheel is shared with the Cayman GT4. The lightweight sport seats that hug like a carbon fiber cradle in our test car aren't available in our market. Different sport seats are standard in the US, racier buckets are a $4,750 option.
Recharge Wrap-up: Porsche buys stake in carbon fiber partsmaker, Formula E runs on solar
Thu, Mar 5 2015The US Department of Energy is providing $35 million in new funding for fuel cell and hydrogen technologies. The money will fund projects to advance technology and speed up adoption of fuel cell applications like light-duty vehicles. Categories for possible projects include deployment of fuel-cell electric hybrid vehicles, mobile refueling and one called "Crosscutting: America's Climate Communities of Excellence." Other possible projects include research and development for hydrogen production, delivery and fuel cell manufacturing. Read more from the DOE. Porsche will buy a 25.1-percent stake in carbon fiber parts manufacturer Capricorn Composite GmbH. Capricorn has provided parts for Porsche's LMP1 racecar and 918 Spyder. The deal will give the automaker better access to the lightweight material going forward, and will "build on joint work over many years in the motor-sports industry and secure the future," according to Porsche. Porsche's parent company Volkswagen owns almost 10 percent of Capricorn's competitor SGL Carbon SE, but an expansion of that ownership could be thwarted by BMW, which controls more of SGL's stock. Florida Power & Light (FPL) will provide the electricity the cars will be using for the race on March 14, and its Martin Next Generation Solar Energy Center provided the electricity the cars used during the announcement event. "Our partnership with Formula E and the Miami ePrix is another example of our commitment to advancing zero-emissions solar energy and the use of electric vehicles in Florida," says FPL President and CEO Eric Silagy. FPL currently operates two other solar plants, with plans to install 1 million solar panels at three more power plants by the end of next year. Read more at Domestic Fuel.
