1984 Porsche 928 S Recent Paint on 2040-cars
Jasper, Georgia, United States
Selling my personal 1984 928S to fund the restoration of a '79 928 5 speed and an '85 928S. Super fun car to drive & turns heads everywhere I go. I've put over 3,300 issue free miles on this car. Shifts smoothly.
Painted in July, 2013. Rated a strong 8 of 10 with minor imperfections showing when you look very closely. $2200 spent on body work and paint. They missed one tiny dent on the roof behind the sunroof the size of a dime. This car was originally bronze & the door jams were not painted black. Recently reupholstered light weight Porsche Recaro front seats. Rear seat bases were removed for speakers. Needs interior restoration in hatch area. Dash is cracked, but has a custom dash cover. Very dependable with a huge stack of maintenance records, including original invoice from Porsche dealer in Alabama. Recent tune-up including plug wires & battery. This is a southern car free of rust having spent most of it's life in Alabama & Georgia. Clear issue free Georgia title in my name. OEM Porsche spare tire & jack included. Car has a few minor electrical issues. Gas gauge & engine temp gauge don't work right all the time. I fill up based on the number of miles I've driven. Climate control fan doesn't work. Power windows work, but the switches are broken and bypassed. Power locks and cruise control don't work. Stereo works fine. I installed new front door speakers, but haven't hooked them up yet. Power steering line has a small leak. $110 for a new line, or repair existing line. I have never tried to open the sunroof, as I don't want it to open & then not close. Brakes are good, but pads are approaching the point of needing replacement. Stops just fine. I drive this car on 75+ mile trips on a regular basis. Headlights open & close as they should & were painted as well. Wipers work fine. Odometer works & was replaced by the previous owner with all zeros. Documentation included. I think the total miles is right around 100,000 based on the documents. Now shows just over 3,200 miles. I drive this car regularly & it has proven to be dependable for a 30 year old car. This is a great weekend car or driver, but not a show car. It is now 30 years old. The original front lower spoiler is still there, but has a few cracks & chips. It sits very low & is vulnerable to damage. If you want a replacement, they are available & easy to replace. It has near new Rikken matching tires with great tread life left. If you want the original power seats, I will swap them back & reduce the price $500.00. I have a set of staggered 17" Porsche Carerra 5 spoke rims with Michelin Pilot (rear tires worn to tread mark) if you'd rather have them, I'll swap them out. I've taken the time to accurately describe this car, but may have missed something. I welcome inspections prior to purchase. Fly to Atlanta & drive this car home. Please understand you're bidding on a 30 year old car! If you'd like a show 928, please bid on one that is twice this price. If you want a cool driver or weekend car consider this one. Note terms of payment and abide by the terms of ebay & this auction. If you don't have any feedback, please contact me prior to bidding. This car is available for sale locally & subject to be removed from ebay prior to auction end. If you really want it, use Buy It Now feature. The windshield is crack & chip free. The wheel wells were coated with undercoating last month. All of the gauges in the instrument cluster work with the exception of the fuel gauge & engine temperature gauge which sometimes works fine, other times pegs to the top. I suspect a grounding issue which is common with this car. The headliner is complete & in very nice condition, as are the front & rear sun visors. A large collection of maintenance records, including the original bill of sale are included with this sale, as is the red OEM owners manual folder (manuals didn't come with the car.) |

GoPro checks out Tokyo's automotive night life in 4K
Thu, Nov 6 2014There's something bizarrely fascinating about Japanese car culture, especially around Tokyo. The metropolis packs people tightly together in a way that would seem to make owning any car tough. And yet, there's still enough enthusiasm around anything with an engine to support everything from wildly tuned bosozoku rides with exhaust pipes reaching toward the sky to seriously fast Porsche and Lamborghini models. To promote its latest Hero4 camera, GoPro has embarked on a short film series called Adventure of Life in 4K, and the latest installment goes inside Japan's speed scene with some gorgeous cinematography of vibrant vehicles rocketing through the city. It's all mixed over more serene images of Tokyo landscapes that combine to form a mini-documentary that's a feast for the eyes. McLaren P1 vs Porsche 918 vs Ducati 1199 Superleggera in epic standing-mile drag race
Fri, 10 Oct 2014We live in a high-tech supercar renaissance, with the Porsche 918 Spyder, McLaren P1 and Ferrari LaFerrari all duking it out for performance supremacy. All three members of this power trio place the engine behind the driver and use some kind of hybrid assist. However, each one finds a slightly different way to make that setup work. While all of the tech is insanely cool, let's just admit that we are all really wondering which one is the quickest and which is the fastest. Autocar aims to find out in a new video pitting two of them against a surprise challenger in the standing mile.
Unfortunately, the race is missing the Ferrari, despite Autocar's best efforts. So instead, it has another limited-edition, high-performance vehicle from Italy in the form of the Ducati 1199 Superleggera. The bike has just two cylinders, but at 1.2-liters of displacement, it makes over 200 horsepower, and all that gumption is packaged into a magnesium monocoque body with carbon fiber bodywork to keep weight low. Granted, the cycle is going up against the 875-hp Porsche and 903-hp McLaren, but traction, aerodynamics and gearing all play a part in this fascinating video.
There's no sense in ruining the winner before watching, but Autocar teases that the finish is one of its closest drag races ever. Check out the video to find out just what that means.
Porsche testing new 911 GTS
Wed, 28 May 2014Porsche may have one more vehicle in its stable with the GTS moniker, if these spy shots are any indication. They show off the presumed 911 GTS lapping the track - the model meant to slide in under the GT3 to be a bit more driver-friendly but still very fast alternative to a stock Carrera.
At first glance, it might look like any other 911, but the devil is in the details. The most obvious among the differences are two centrally mounted exhaust outlets, rather than the ones closer to the corners on most of the current models. They also aren't perfectly in the center like the GT3. The taillights are also somewhat thicker than the current ones, and the rear decklid is split into three exposed sections.
This is the third time we've seen the presumed GTS. The first was as a coupe late last year. Then it showed up again in March testing in convertible form. Although, that version also sported fender vents at the rear.
