Up for auction is this running 1981 Porsche 924 that i purchased a couple of months ago to restore for my wife.Well things have changed and we just purchased a house and are going to be moving in a few weeks so some of my projects just have to go.Before i go any further ,let me clear a few things up about the car.First of all i have listed the mileage as 100000 which is probably pretty close. The previous owner stated to me that when they purchased the car that the speedometer didnt work so they had a used speedometer put in that read 46000 miles but they never thought about marking down what the original spedometer read.So long story short i figured it would better to say the car has more mileage than it probably does. The odometer reads 46745. One last thing, this car has a clear open Pensylvania title.By open i mean that the title has been signed by previous owner but i have not filled in the purchaser information and have not registered it.OK, now on to about the car. There is a lot to cover here so rather than jumping all over the place about its condition, IM going to list all the good and then all the not so good ! Please be aware that even though this car runs and drives that i would STRONGLY consider it a project car.I would also HIGHLY reccomend that the car be trailored or towed.Remember it is a 26 year old car and things like belt and hoses have a way of going at the worst times! When i purchased the car i was told it had been sitting in the garage for atleast a year and it still has about 1/16 tank of that old fuel in it.
Now the good list. The 2.0 fuel injected engine runs pretty good, doesnt smoke or burn oil and has great oil pressure, 40lb at idle cold ,25 lb at idle when warmed up.at about 2000 rpm oil pressure jumps to about 60 lbs.
Both power windows work but the passenger side is slow going up and down.
Both power mirrors work
There is a new timing belt included (see picture of seat)
all gauges appear to work.
both headlight work, all tail lights work, turn signals work front and rear, emergency flashers work.brake lights work, dash lights work, horn works, steering feels tight, suspension feels tight, brakes good, tranny shifts good and smooth, has a new clutch, pressure plate and throughout bearing (see picture) and new clutch cable. Please note that i removed tha check plate cover to get picture of the clutch and it has since been put back on.Body is solid and i havent noticed any rust underneath the car (see picture).Has an aftermarket chrome muffler with what looks like a stainless pipe and resonater (see picture). All 4 tires are in good useable condition, maybe 12 to 15000 miles left on them.(see picture)
OK, now for all the not so good !!
The rear main seal leaks pretty good and will need to be replaced. The sunroof was sealed with silicone and then topped off with duct tape, yeah what a mess.Well i have removed all the tape and silicone and the sunroof now opens but will need a new gasket and obviously refinishing along with the roof section.(see picture) Carpet is in OK condition as far as ware and tare but VERY dirty! Emergency brake works but needs adjustment.Rear hatch wont stay up but i have replacement lift struts for it that are included. The dash pad is in bad condition but has one of those coverlays on it (plastic cover) Rear view mirror needs to be reglued to the windshield. All of the body side moldings are missing (see pictures) When you look at both sides of the car, those black lines down the sides in the middle are where the mouldings would have been, what you are seeing is the glue that is left.Sun visor clips are missing.Dome light between visors is missing.Headliner behind sunroof is torn.Heater fan works but makse noise (fan is hitting blower housing. AC does not work.Heater, defrost and ac slide controls dont work and i have no idea why, best guess is when they put the stereo in they unhooke everything for some reason and never hooked things back up.This car has some electrical issues,a few examples are that when i first got it none of the light worked, after cleaning some of the fuse terminals all of the lights came to life, including the po up headlights. another example is the wipers did work flawlessly but of course today they didnt .Chances are its a fuse issue again but i really dont have the time to check it out.The radio antenna is broken. The car has been repainted at one time and it was a really amatureish job at best. There are small dings and dents all over the car. There is a small area of rust comming through at the driver side rear wheel oppening (see picture). Driver side exterior door handle sticks a little, inside rod needs adjustment. inside handle works smoothly. Both front seats need to be either reupholstered or just replace seats.Last but not least ,there is whats called a thermo time switch which is bassically a choke for the fuel injection.Well i have had to add a jumper lead to make it function.Just put the jumper on and car start normally then after about 30 seconds unhook and go on your way.Its probably just another electrical issue but i just havent had the time to diagnose it properly.
Well, i think i have covered just about everything. Oh, all of the pictures were taken today (4/16/13) .Please note that the exterior pictures make the car look a lot better than it actually looks like up close, all of the dings and flaws in the paint didnt show up.If you need more pictures please feel free to email me but please be spicific about what areas you want pictures of.
One last time! In my opinion this is a project car! Also in my opinion this car will need to be either towed or trailored and is not road worthy at this time.
Winning bidder to pay a $100.00 NON REFUNDABLE deposit through Paypal within 24 hours of auction end.Balance to be paid in CASH at time of pickup.Sorry but i do not accept checks of any kind,no exceptions!!! Car is to be removed from my property within 7 days of auction end unless other arrangements have been agreed to BEFORE you bid.
One last note- If the reserve price is not reached i may consider reasonable offers!
Well ,thanks for looking and have a great day!

Watch this Koenigsegg CCX hit 211 mph on a runway, outpacing McLaren's P1
Tue, 03 Jun 2014Vmax200 in in England organizes events where those who care to show up with a supercar can run them down the two-mile runway at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground. Evo attended the latest event, bringing an impressively green Lamborghini Aventador to test its girth and gaping vents against other precious metals like the McLaren P1 and F1, Ferrari F12 Berlinetta and Enzo, a Porsche Carrera GT and enough 911 Turbos to start a dealership. Speaking of those Porsches, nine of the top ten slots in the top speed competition are claimed by modified 911 Turbos.
A monochrome Swede ruled them all, though, a black-and-white Koenigsegg CCX setting fire to the speed trap run after run, hitting 211 miles per hour at its quickest. It was followed by, surprise, a 911 GT2 modified by 9E that did 210 mph. You can watch the EVO video below, GT Spirit has a bigger breakdown of the day, and we've included another vid showing the tandem launch of the CCX and McLaren F1.
Porsche Cayman GT4 looks sexy, rapid in the nude
Mon, Jan 5 2015Porsche doesn't officially have a name for its more hardcore version of the Cayman, yet. The speculation is that the coupe is called the GT4 as a little brother to the 911 GT3. However, the German sports car maker apparently is not interested in keeping the model's looks much of a secret because these latest shots show it without a hint of camouflage to speak of. The GT4 reportedly takes the GT3's ethos of more power, less weight and stickier-than-glue handling and brings it all to the Cayman. As these photos show, there's a much lower air dam up front with a cooling vent at the tip of the hood. Larger wheels are another obvious addition and are likely shod with some very sticky rubber. At the back, there's a double spoiler combining a wing and a ducktail. The power and gearbox for the GT4 remains a mystery, though. The rumor is that it uses a tuned version of the 3.4-liter flat-six in the Cayman S and GTS to make between 370 and 400 horsepower. A similar overhaul of the Boxster might be on the way, as well. A version of the convertible wearing some of the Cayman GT4's goodies was recently spotted testing. That one even had a manual transmission to make the prospects behind the wheel even more exciting.
1983 Motorweek showdown pits Porsche 928S vs. Chevy Camaro Z28
Mon, Jan 12 2015Last month, Motor Trend threw the Camaro Z/28 and Porsche 911 GT3 into the bear pit and let them fight it out. Way back in 1983, MotorWeek had the same idea, comparing the Camaro Z/28 to the Porsche 928S. At the time, the Camaro was America's best selling sports coupe, the 928S was Porsche's top-of-the-line model that also had the highest top speed of any car sold here. And the price differential was even more stark then: $13,600 for the Camaro, $45,000 for the Porsche. That put the Z/28's cast-iron, 5.0-liter V8 with 190 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque against the all-aluminum 4.7-liter V8 with 234 hp and 263 lb-ft in the 928S. Even with that and the Camaro being 14 inches longer than the Porsche, the American was a surprising 40 pounds lighter than the German. The show took them to Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia to see how close a relative performance bargain could hang with a the German GT. Both had five-speed manual transmissions, but the high-speed corners and tight sections of Summit Point would test other handling variables, including the "bone-rattling" Camaro's solid rear axle and disc and drum brake setup vis-a-vis the four-wheel disc brakes and independent suspension on the "firm-but-smooth" Porsche. Paradoxically, the larger disparity 22 years ago resulted in a closer result. Check out the video to see how the Summit was won.
