Beautiful 1977 Porsche 924 W/ Factory Option Reseda Green Metallic on 2040-cars
United States
Up for auction is a beautiful production year 1977 Porsche 924 in rare factory option Reseda green metallic. The exterior color and interior combine to make it an absolute head turner. The vehicle starts, idles, and runs out nicely with grind-free gear shifts and responsive braking. Burns or uses no oil with no mixing of fluids. Neither issues of corrosive rust nor rot are evident on the body or frame with factory undercoating complete and intact. The windshield and all glass is clear with zero cracks and the all-season tire set shows 75+ % tread life remaining. I have always been partial to the 70's cars with vinyl roofs. I believed the aesthetic 924 shape and paint color along with the reconditioned camel color interior would work well, and provide a possible one-off look. So I had one installed. The other subtle work completed would be quickly identified by those who know this model. The removed factory option headlight washers and rubber bumper guards are included. The factory muffler was replaced with a Magnaflow glasspack for a sportier exhaust note under load and and considerably cleaner look over stock. Dash gauges, warning lights and dials are functioning, with the exception of the voltmeter which recently gave it's last reading; although the battery is strong and has never been an issue or given cause for concern. The head/tail/brake/turn and reverse lights function properly. A few wiring gremlins usually associated with these era cars are present, and as I am not adept at wiring, I never attempted to diagnose (intermittent rear wiper, two side markers, interior light, interior fan speed). I will ask for assistance during the duration of the auction to repair these few items, and will add to the listing if successful. After a drive, a small spot of oil is found on the floor weeping from the front of the oil pan gasket. A preventative/piece of mind maintenance tune-up was completed recently including the following Bosch items: Starter, cap/rotor, ignition wires, plugs, ignition coil, fuel filter, Mann air & oil filter, oil/coolant service, main oil seal, belt set and ignition switch.
Overall, simply a beautiful and honest example of a 70's era sports car with charm and period good looks which will bring the new owner years of proud ownership. You will find very few 924's currently enjoying the road, and even fewer still in this condition and factory option color. This vehicle deserves to be driven more often then I get it out of the garage, and responds favorably the more often it does. While not perfect, it is dependable enough to be used as a daily driver if called upon, and certainly a vehicle which belies it's 37 years of existence. It's a durable and simple Porsche -- fun to drive and commands attention, and while it can hold freeway speed + with ease, the 924 was never designed and engineered to compensate for what was lacking below your buckle. It is currently titled, licensed and insured with current emissions certificate in my name.
Please review the photos below as I feel they are the true representation of the overall condition of the vehicle. Ask any and all questions prior to placing a bid and I will answer them as quickly and honestly as possible. Inspections are certainly welcome also prior to auction ending -- not after please, as this auction is to purchase and not to simply hold. Any repeated or pertinent questions I will display below for all to review. Reserve price is set low with the assistance of industry leading Hagerty Classic Car evaluation guide. If you require this vehicle to be shipped, I have had great luck shipping/receiving vehicles through www.uship.com. Check them out as they consistently beat the competition by easily 25% or more. I certainly do not intend to exclude anyone from bidding, but "zero bidders" are discouraged from placing a bid (learned unfortunately through years of non-payments) by having a valid Paypal account necessary. A $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of auction completion, with the balance due within 7 days. Thank you for looking, and good luck if you choose to place a bid.
*Photographs taken 3 days prior to listing. Interior carpet is a light beige blend unlike photos which appears darker. |

Autoblog Minute: UAW and FCA avoid strike, Clarkson teases new show
Fri, Oct 9 2015FCA avoids a worker strike, a former Top Gear host teases us with a picture from Amazon's new car show, and Toyota predicts autonomous cars by 2020. Autoblog senior editor Greg Migliore reports on this edition of Autoblog Minute Weekly Recap. Show full video transcript text [00:00:00] FCA avoids a worker strike, a former Top Gear host teases us with a picture from Amazon's new car show, and Toyota predicts autonomous cars by 2020. I'm senior editor Greg Migliore and this is your Autoblog Minute Weekly Recap. A UAW strike of FCA was avoided thanks to a zero-hour tentative agreement reached this week. Worker concerns that were renegotiated in the new [00:00:30] deal include adjustments to the two-tier wage scale, health care costs, and production outsourcing. Now check-in with Autoblog as we update our reports on this evolving story. Shooting began on Amazon Prime's new automotive show starring the former Top Gear crew. That's Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May. Now Clarkson threw out a tweet from day one of filming on location at Algarve Motor Park in Portugal. The picture features the show's [00:01:00] three stars and crew posing with the holy trinity of hyper cars. That's a McLaren P1, a Ferrari LaFerrari, and a Porsche 918 Spyder. This Prime show is being called Gear Knobs though the name is unofficial. Now if a tweet is any indication of what we can expect, who cares what it's called this is gonna be awesome. (Eds Note: Clarkson tweeted Friday that the show will not be called Gear Knobs.) Toyota predicts drivers could be obsolete on highways as early as 2020, with technology dubbed the Toyota Highway Teammate or THT. Toyota is using a modified [00:01:30] Lexus GS to show what this is capable of. THT is already able to create a driverless freeway car that's capable of changing lanes, making passes and taking curves. Plus, it can keep safe distances from other vehicles. Toyota is currently testing this on Tokyo's Shuto Expressway. Those are the highlights from the week that was. Be sure to check out my full recap this Saturday. And I'll have some added insight on the BMW M4 GTS. For Autoblog, I'm Greg Migliore. [00:02:00] Show Logo Autoblog Minute is a short-form video news series reporting on all things automotive. Dan Neil pokes fun at the celeb cars of 2014
Sun, Dec 28 2014Look, we try really hard not to pay any attention to the Kardashians and their vapid reality TV empire. But, as troubling as that brood may be, occasionally we're impressed and/or horrified by their four-wheeled conveyances. In fact, that curiosity extends beyond talentless reality stars with rotund glutes to celebs in general. That's why we're enjoying Dan Neil's sometimes biting take on the celebrity cars of 2014. Besides paying tribute to Kim K, husband Kanye West and the adorable Lamborghini that their spawn rides about in, Neil also takes a look at LeBron James' turn as a Kia spokesman and boxer Floyd Mayweather's trio of Bugatti Veyrons. Matthew McConaughey is a focus of Neil's as well, thanks to his oft-panned advertisements for Lincoln (and the raucous parodies they inspired), before finishing on the high, with Jerry Seinfeld and his new Porsche 918 Spyder. Take a look at Neil's recap of the celebrity cars of 2014. News Source: The Wall Street Journal Celebrities Humor Bugatti Kia Lamborghini Lincoln Porsche Videos porsche 918 spyder celebrity dan neil
Watch the Chevy Corvette dismiss its Euro rivals at the hands of a Brit magazine
Sat, 08 Feb 2014European auto writers, especially the British, have a bit of a reputation for favoring their own domestic cars over foreign rivals in comparison tests. Just think about how many times you've heard Jeremy Clarkson deify the latest product of UK loins while denigrating an American rival as a hopeless "Yank Tank." However, we have to tip our hats to the folks at Autocar because in its latest video comparing the 2014 Corvette Stingray to the Porsche 911, Jaguar F-Type V8 S and Audi R8, it's actually given the Vette a fair shake.
Autocar has put the Stingray through a battery of tests against what it considers to be the three best sports cars on sale in Europe today. And while the tests that it has chosen are somewhat random and subjective, it has concluded that the C7 can stand up against its rivals, even irrespective of its price. It's one thing to hear about how great the Stingray is from American writers, but it's great to know that not all Brits think we've gone crazy for calling the new Chevrolet "exquisite."
