Hi! I am selling my 914. I bought it from a guy on the east coast and had it shipped across country due to its condition two years ago. This is my garage "summer car", never driven in the rain, always either in the garage for the winter, or in the race trailer when working on the TR4a. This car has had $25,000. worth of restoration done to it by the previous owner. I have all of the documentation, he even put it in an 'orange' box...ha...ha... I am selling as my wife finds the car tooooo small, and does not drive it! So, she does not take it to work in the summer like our past garage toys, the MGB or Dune Buggy etc...so to keep peace it has to go.... :-( The car was completely taken down to the bare chassis, jack points reinforced, and painted Nepal Orange...completely...including both trunks!! Then all components re-assembled. Brand new tires, new Weber's put on during restoration, $9,600 of the $25,000 was motor alone. This car runs very well, pulls very strong, 5-speed factory, new bushings, NO problems at all. Let me know what you need, I can take additional pics, or scan invoices, just let me know!! First-ever Porsche headed home to company museum
Wed, 29 Jan 2014About 30 years before Ferdinand Porsche designed the Volkswagen Beetle, he created the Egger-Lohner electric vehicle, C.2 Phaeton model - or simply, the P1 - you see above. This was the first vehicle created by Porsche, and the car gets its nickname from the fact that he had stamped "P1" on many of the parts marking it as the first Porsche... sorry, 356 No. 1.
Now while you'd think that such an important piece of Porsche heritage has been in a museum or even the automaker's not-so-secret lair, it has actually been sitting at a warehouse for the last 112 years. Thankfully, that's all about to change as Porsche has recovered P1, and the car will soon be on "permanent display" at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart.
The P1 has a 3 horsepower motor capable of delivering a top speed of 21 miles per hour and a driving range of 49 miles, and, like many vehicles in Porsche's history, the motor is positioned at the rear of the vehicle. According to the press release posted below, the P1 finished first in a 24-mile electric vehicle race in Berlin in 1899, but it has been sitting since 1902.
Porsche celebrates 5M Facebook fans with crowdsourced one-off 911
Mon, 05 Aug 2013Porsche's Facebook fan base appears to be accelerating as quickly as the cars it builds. The German automaker has just unveiled a special 911 Carrera 4S designed with crowdsourced input as a way to thank its five million Facebook fans.
The 911 features special Aquablaumetallic paint from Porsche Exclusive, contrasting 20-inch white Carrera S wheels and pinstriping, along with an aero package including a fixed rear wing. Inside, there are unique backlit sill plates and the obligatory dashboard engraving that says "Personally Built by 5 Million Porsche Fans."
As a way to turn at least one virtual thumbs up into its more meaningful physical-world equivalent, Porsche is holding a contest to win the chance to drive the car at Britain's Silverstone racetrack - and bring a friend - and nine lucky runners-up will win 1:43-scale models of the 911.
