      1976 Porsche 914   2.0L  68,661 miles w/Air Conditioning
You are bidding on a 1976 Porsche 914. This is a great car and with very rare working A/C. The car has been driven very little since the early 90's but was run in its garage regularly. The engine runs great and has the usual seepage oil leaks but no dripping oil and is very clean burning with no smoke. The transmission shifts perfect and clutch works perfect. There is a little leak from the speedometer drive on the transmission but fluid is clean and full. The suspension, shocks, bushings, tie rods, wheel bearings, etc are in good condition with nothing loose or worn. Brakes are good but squeak a little on slow breaking. I suspect from rust on the rotors from not been driven very much. The interior is almost perfect and certainly for its age is in very good condition. There is one small crack on the top of the instrument cluster housing and the dash has no cracks. There are a couple of nicks in the seats and center pad which are shown in the pictures. Door panels are perfect. Carpet is in good condition. You can see from the pictures the overall condition of the interior is excellent. The top and door seals are very good except the passenger side seal from the top down to the door. Pictured. Anybody that knows these cars always checks the battery tray and the subsequent rust trail from the battery tray to the back corner of the passenger seat. On this car it is very clean and no rust is evident. I took a couple of pictures to show this. Both trunks are perfect and look like they just come off the showroom floor. Now the body!!!. The body and chassis on this car are rust free. The bumpers are in great shape but need a little buffing to get the shine back. The overall look of the car as you can see in the pictures is almost perfect. But there are a couple of flaws. A shopping cart dent below the mirror on the left door and one below the door handle on the right side. With its color you have to be close and with the correct light angle to see them. Also the front hood has had a repaint at sometime in its life and it was not done very well. Again with the correct light and angle there is some trash and sanding lines that can be seen. It may be able to be buffed out??? From the pictures you can not see them so I mention it here. Overall this car has a great look and presents its self very well but will require a TLC on the cosmetics to be a perfect car !!! I work very hard to present my cars as best as possible and my customers have been very happy with their purchases so if you have any questions please ask them before you bid and keep my rating at 100% positive !!!

All the crazy stuff we saw at McCall's Motorworks Revival

Thu, Aug 18 2016

Every year, Gordon McCall puts on a lavish event packed with rare cars and planes (and the type of people that can afford rare cars and planes). And every year, more ridiculous stuff shows up. It's the good kind of machine overload. It's likely the only place in the world where you'll see a line of BMW 3.0s next to some Paganis next to a Porsche 911 by Singer Design next to a Ferrari salt racer next to a custom Olds Riviera next to the latest from Koenigsegg next to he coolest stuff Shelby ever made next to a hangar filled with McLarens, including a few P1 GTRs. And then all of that is surrounded by private jets, fighters, and planes that could have flown in directly from WWII. In a word, it's insane. Walk through the gallery above to get a taste for what was there this year for the event's 25th anniversary. Le Mans-winning Porsche 935 K3 'seized' by DEA agents

Thu, 16 Jan 2014

Porsche has won Le Mans more than any other marque, but only one of those overall race winners was actually based on a 911. That was the 1979 Porsche 935 K3, chassis number 009 00015 that was entered by brothers Don and Bill Whittington. It went on to win at the Nürburgring and Watkins Glen, and scored podium finishes at Sebring and Brands Hatch as well. In short, it's a historically significant and hugely valuable piece of motorsport history. And it was just seized by the DEA. Sorta.
After the Whittington brothers ran afoul of a handful of lawsuits and were implicated in smuggling narcotics, the car changed hands a few times before ending up in the noted collection of one Bruce Meyers. He had it at Laguna Seca earlier this month when a black Suburban, Dodge Charger and transporter truck pulled up with government plates, asked to speak with Meyer, presented him with a court order, loaded the car onto the truck and drove off.
Though familiar with the legal disputes surrounding the ownership of the car and the misdeeds of its famous original owners, Meyer was left understandably distraught over the events that had just unfolded in front of him to separate him from his pride and joy. (Or one of them, anyway; Bruce has got an eminently desirable collection of classic cars.) But here's the kicker: those DEA agents weren't actual DEA agents. Fortunately they weren't thieves, either. The actual story could have been the plot right out of Ocean's 14 if they ever made one and it focused on classic cars. (Is anyone in Hollywood listening?)

Porsche planning back-to-basics 911 GT

Fri, Jun 5 2015

With the latest 911 GT3 and GT3 RS track toys, Porsche clearly put the emphasis on outright performance. After all, if they were all about a puristic driving experience, they'd probably have manual transmissions instead of DCTs, right? Well that's just one point where the Porsche GT division's next project is tipped to depart. According to Autocar, Zuffenhausen's skunkworks are preparing a new addition to the 911 range that will put all the emphasis on the raw driving experience, even at the expense of lap times. The yet-to-be-named model is expected to do away with the second clutch in favor of one you can operate yourself, but that's not all. We're told to expect skinnier tires to make it easier to hold at the limits of adhesion, the narrowed track from the base Carrera, and the absence of large wings and other aerodynamic features. The inspiration apparently comes less from the GT3 than from the new Cayman GT4. Look for the new back-to-basics Elfen to arrive sometime next year, after the rest of the 911 range gets updated with turbo engines. Chances look good, though, that this particular model will stick with the atmospheric boxer six. Related Video:
