Porsche 914 2.0 Rare Ac Car, Custom Seats And Stereo. Great Daily Driver on 2040-cars
Bradenton, Florida, United States
1974 Porsche 914 with 2.0 engine This project car that my son
and I have been working on for over a year has to go because we are buying a
house and need the money for the down payment.
This car is going to be a great car when done and is about 80% complete. Check out the pictures on my website www.thewebdoc.com. We have cleaned, and restored the interior,
replaced the seats with custom designed seats.
These seats cost over $700 to have made and really dress up the car. The steering wheel has been painstakingly
restored and the instrument panel has been sanded down and painted red to add
contrast. Mechanically the car is
great and starts up and drives great.
The goal was to use this as a daily driver and park my Hummer
considering the price of gas is almost $4.00 a gallon. The car handles great and has new larger tires (less that 1000 miles on new tires). It also has the 911 style rims with New Porsche emblems on the center caps. The carburetor has been rebuilt and
adjusted. The manifold gaskets have been
also replaced. The car has a new
battery. We customized the center
console and installed 2 high output speakers as well as replaced the standard
speakers in the kicker panels with better speakers. We also updated the sound system with a brand
new Pioneer stereo. The interior was stripped
out and any rust was taken care of and has been painted and sealed. On 4/19/14 we installed new upgraded carpet
with added sound proofing where possible.
Our goal was to make this car a daily driver and have been replacing all
of the necessary parts to make this car solid.
We have replaced the rubber gaskets in the targa top and window
edges. The seals in the front trunk have
been replaced. One of the most important
things we did was replace the seatbelts with new ones from a 928 so they are
better quality. The tires have been replaced
with new wider high performance tires. The
brakes and brake fluids have been replaced, along with all of the other engine fluids. In addition the car comes with a new master cylinder
that I was planning on installing it to improve stopping power. This car also has air
conditioning and all the parts appear to be included but at this time it is not
installed. That was going to be our next
project. Both the front and back trunks
are carpeted and the front one has been painted and the bottom has been treated
with rubberized paint to add some sound proofing. The hood has been recently been repainted and the Porsche crest has been added, and you can see by the picture how nice the car is going to look when the rest of the car is restored. The body is solid but needs to be sanded and repaired prior to painting it; this will never be a show car but can be made to look great and will be a blast to drive. This car will be a great car with a little more TLC. If we were not buying a new house it would not be for sale. Audi's Project Artemis woes could delay range of VW Group EVs
Tue, Jul 19 2022Two years ago, Audi's then new CEO Markus Duesmann announced his first big initiative called Project Artemis. The plan's marquee component is "to implement a new lighthouse project for Audi in record time," being "a highly efficient electric car scheduled to be on the road as early as 2024" on a brand new platform that would be shared with Porsche and Bentley. An ex-VW and -Porsche man named Alex Hitzinger, who'd also spent time at Apple working on the tech company's electric car, was brought on board to lead Project Artemis and come up with new ideas. Parent Volkswagen Group said it wanted to become "as agile as in a racing team," removing the bureaucratic molasses and bottlenecks interfering with getting the best product on the road in the best time. However, in any grand venture, failure comes before success. Automobilwoche reports that Artemis is struggling through issues large enough to push the product plans back by years. The issue, as it was with the ID.3 lineup on the eve of that car's launch, is software. Well, that's the latest, largest problem; Artemis has already been through copious struggles before getting to the software bit. Two months after Hitzinger came on, in December 2020, VW raised its EV volume target from 50% to 70% by 2030. That necessitated a rethink of the VW Group's entire platform strategy considering the far greater production scale. Hitzinger only lasted six months in the job, ousted in May 2021, supposedly because Audi believed his ideas were "not suitable for profitable series production" among other reasons. By that time, the pace of software development was already said to be six months behind schedule, with the Car.Software division working on VW.OS 2.0 "not yet running at the speed hoped for." Internal frictions were noteworthy and costly as well. VW's commercial division plant in Hanover was meant to build Artemis vehicles for Audi, Porsche and Bentley, but Automobilwoche reported in January of this year that Porsche paid a ""small three-digit million amount" — like $100 million or so — to get out of the deal mandating its vehicles come from the Hanover facility.  So Audi effectively brought Artemis in-house to lead vehicle development, and Car.Software turned into Cariad to get VW.OS and VW.AC, which stands for Automotive Cloud, to market. The first Audi vehicle under Project Artemis was planned to arrive by the end of 2024, a production version of the Grandsphere concept.
Porsche wants you to 3D print your own Cayman
Tue, 10 Dec 2013Have you got access to a 3D printer? Well lucky you, because as we're rapidly learning, the possibilities are virtually endless. And if your tastes lean towards the automotive (as we'd assume they do if you're reading this page), we've got good news.
Porsche has just released 3D printing data for the Cayman S so you can three-dimensionally print out your own and customize to your heart's content. Now Porsche hasn't specified just to what scale the data will allow you to print your Cayman, but we have a feeling that'd mostly be limited by the size of the printer at your disposal. Check it out in the video below and follow the link to the Porsche site to download the file.
Top Gear teases Porsche 918 vs McLaren P1 vs LaFerrari showdown
Mon, Jan 5 2015It's the comparison test we've been waiting over a year to come together: the hybrid hypercar showdown of the century between the McLaren P1, Porsche 918 Spyder and Ferrari LaFerrari. They've each got hybrid powertrains pairing eight or more cylinders with an electric motor to drive around 900 horsepower through seven-speed dual-clutch transmissions. They come from exotic automakers with rich racing pedigrees, and each costs around a million bucks. Leave it to the guys from Top Gear, then, to finally put it together. The story adorns the cover of this month's issue of Top Gear magazine, which arranged the showdown – not the television program that started it all. Fortunately, they didn't miss the opportunity to capture the action on video, which will be available to iPad subscribers – but whether you've got access or not, you can catch a short clip of the seven-figure hybrid hypercars right here.
