1976 Porsche 914 Base Coupe 2-door 2.0l Targa on 2040-cars
Vero Beach, Florida, United States
This 38yr.old beauty has been a cherished part of our family for the past 38 years. I’m only the second owner of this Porsche, having purchased it in March of 1981. It has been garaged for my entire ownership. The car underwent a complete restoration 24 years ago, with a couple of minor ones in the past 12 years to ensure the quality of the car. It was a daily driver and a weekend SCCA slalom racer, then following the restoration a sunny Sunday car with historic plates and limited mileage. I decided to make it a driver’s car with upgrades that would enhance the driving experience, as opposed to a 100% OEM Original car as would have left the factory in 1976.
My age and car storage issues are the only reasons for the reluctant sale of this little gem.
All receipts are available for all the major servicing for the past 38 years, including the original Owner’s Manual and Original Window Sales Sticker! I have been a Porsche Club of America since purchasing the 914. This organization has been a terrific resource for maintaining and enjoying the very best the 914 has to offer. The car has only been driven 30,821 miles since the full restoration. Here is a partial list of all the many things done to the car over the years:
Complete bare metal body restoration and Guards Red repaint New carpet replacement, including both front and rear trunks Koenig Racing Bucket Seats Factory Center Console with Temp, Oil and Pressure gauges Alpine/Polk Stereo System with front trunk mounted subwoofer Weber carburetor conversion Rebuilt engine with slight overbore cylinder liners and larger pistons Lightened flywheel Stainless Steel Heat Exchangers Reinforced Battery Tray with Battery Cutoff Switch Monza Exhaust Epsilon 3-pc. Modular Wheels with Goodyear GT+4 tires Koni Shocks Automotion front and rear Sway Bars and suspension bushings Rebuilt Pedal box with Delrin Bushings New fuel pump New metal fuel line New gearshift kit Re-built Alternator Factory Front Spoiler Rear 916 Spoiler Electronic trunk release Comes with nose bra and car cover
The car recently had an engine tune-up and runs beautifully. I would heartily invite any inspection and scrutiny of the 914 and would encourage a serious buyer or their agent to come and see and drive the car. The Porsche is also advertised elsewhere, so I reserve the right to end this eBay listing if the car sells locally.
A $500.00 PayPal deposit is required within 48 hours of the winning bid. Following the receipt of deposit, buyer must contact me for the terms of the balance owed via a mutually agreed payment method. Car is located in Vero Beach, Florida. I could possibly assist with transportation arrangements, but buyer collection of the car is much preferred. Please email with any further questions or inquiries. 2015 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S gets faster, more powerful [w/video]
Tue, Jan 13 2015Porsche just isn't letting development of the Cayenne Turbo S cease. The 2014 edition was unveiled at last year's Detroit Auto Show boasting 550 horsepower from the brand's 4.8-liter twin-turbo V8, and it could hit 60 miles per hour in 4.3 seconds to a 175 mph top speed. Those seemed like very impressive specs for an SUV, but only a year later, the German brand has revealed an even more powerful take on its flagship trim in the model lineup. The 2015 Cayenne Turbo S now makes 562 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque from the same V8. The key to seeing such a significant boost in grunt so quickly is that the two turbos are now integral and are located directly in the exhaust manifolds. Porsche's eight-speed Tiptronic automatic gearbox still routes power to all four wheels. All of the tweaks let the SUV hit 60 miles per hour in 3.8 seconds and a 176 mph to speed. Stopping should come quite rapidly too thanks to 16.5-inch diameter ceramic brake discs up front with 10-piston calipers. Of course, the Cayenne needs to be able to put that added grunt to good use. Porsche claims that the model can lap the Nurburgring Nordschleife in 7:59.74. Comparatively, the 550-hp Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR previously touted its SUV 'Ring lap record with a circuit in 8:14 in 2014. The Turbo S doesn't try hard to show off its added prowess, though. Up front, the bumper and undersides of the door mirrors are done in high-gloss black paint. Meanwhile, the roof spoiler and wheel arches are body color. The 21-inch wheels with black edges provide a little flash, and LED headlights are standard. The interior should be comfy too with black and creme leather and carbon fiber accents. The whole package rings up for $157,300, plus $995 destination and delivery, and US deliveries start in late April. Check it out in Porsche's video below. This content is hosted by a third party. The new Cayenne Turbo S The top athlete among SUVs At the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Porsche is also introducing the new Cayenne Turbo S – the top model of the sporty SUV model series. Its re-engineered 4.8-liter V8 biturbo engine now develops 570 hp (419 kW) and 800 Nm (590 ft lb) of torque. A chassis that is tuned for maximum driving dynamics and packs a wide range of control systems also makes the Cayenne Turbo S a genuine top athlete.
Porsche gives GT3 owners extra year of warranty, new engines in production April 22
Sat, 12 Apr 2014While the auto industry reels from massive recall after massive recall, Porsche has quietly been working on a fix for an issue that's forced owners of the new 911 GT3 to park their track-ready rockets for fear of an engine fire. Thanks to a leaked letter from Porsche to a GT3 owner (which has been certified as real), we now have an idea of just where the German brand is at with the fix.
On April 22, Porsche will begin production of a new batch of GT3 engines for the 785 affected models across the globe. As you'll recall, the original issue rested with a screw joint that could loosen the connecting rod. The new engines have an "optimized piston rod screw connection," that should keep the connecting rod in place. Once technical validations are completed, production will kick off and new powerplants will be shipped around the globe for owners of the troubled cars.
Porsche will hand out a certificate to owners of affected cars once repairs have been completed, as a means of documenting the work. To make up for the trouble, Porsche will be giving owners an extra year on their new-vehicle warranty, while the 911 GT3 concierge will be reaching out to compensate them for having to park their car for so long.
Automakers paying Chinese dealers for lower-than-expected sales
Sat, Jan 10 2015The Chinese dealers vs. foreign manufacturers story won't quit. It began with a story on the struggles faced by FAW-Toyota joint venture dealers, with supposedly 95 percent of the showrooms losing money, and 10 percent of them doing so poorly that they'd have to exit the business. The problem is mandated sales targets, most set when the country's economy was racing. Now that things have slowed, China's dealers are swimming in unsold cars and the costs to keep them. In the case of FAW-Toyota, dealers asked Toyota to hand over 2.2 billion yuan ($355 million) to help address the situation. That was followed by a report noting the issues that Honda, BMW, and Nissan dealers are having with the same issue, revealing that the Chinese Automobile Dealers Association (CADA) had taken the highly unusual step of writing to the Chinese government to complain. Now Reuters reports that CADA is not only pressing its case even harder, it's being open about it: it announced that BMW agreed to pay dealers 5.1 billion yuan ($820 million) to alleviate poor profits last year. Unnamed sources said Audi has thrown 2 billion yuan into the kitty for subsidies, and Daimler has contributed "about 1 billion yuan" to its dealers. The battle isn't just about 2014, but how business will be run in 2015 as well: Chinese Porsche dealers have requested the automaker lower its 2015 target of 64,000 cars, which would be a 40-percent increase on its 2014 sales of 46,931 vehicles. One analyst called it "shocking" that the CADA has taken its fight public, while CADA comments continue to imply that dealers have been railroaded to the cliff's edge without recourse. "Due to the difference in status," it's deputy secretary said, "individual dealers are not willing to, or don't dare to, talk frankly with the carmakers...." Both parties need one another, so they'll figure out a way to make it work – but that could mean acknowledging the Chinese market is behaving more like a mature one, not an emerging one.
