1975 Porsche 914 Base Coupe 2-door 2.0l on 2040-cars
Middletown, California, United States

This is an original California car with no rust issues that I am aware of. I have tried to include pictures of all areas of the vehicle and especially those that usually are rust prone in 914s.
Engine has been modified with a 912 case, stock heat exchangers(not stainless steel) with a tubular header with muffler attached. This is the exhaust system and the cabin itself is not heated. The original heat exchangers were removed for weight and power savings as vehicle was modified for speed. Lines are straight and additions include a mild performance cam, counterbalanced crank shaft, aluminum rods, performance pistons, solid lifters, and dual 40 Weber carbs. Interior is in good condition -classic sports steering wheel has great feel , carpets are new, windshield is new and all glass is tinted. Electronic ignition is new. Dash has one or two minor cracks and a CD player has been added. All electronics seem to be functioning fine. Battery tray has been removed and battery relocated to rear trunk for better weight distribution and room in the engine bay. Engine bay, rear and front trunk storage areas and undercarriage have been coated with a protective spray (similar to truck bed liner material).Custom carpet panels and carpeted battery box. Front brakes are upgraded BMW 320i and rear brakes have been rebuilt(new standard rotors and pads all around) Transmission is smooth and all linkage bushings have been replaced. Car came with two vintage 911 seats which we have replaced with new Corbeau bucket sport seats for a better fit. The two 911 seats are included in this sale. One seat has a slight tear in seat area. Paint near the doors had several bubbles which we sanded and tried to repaint but the paint company sent us wrong color so those small areas are a lighter than the rest of the car. I have tried to show it in the photos but it's not very noticeable. |

Porsche expects to hit 200k sales target 3 years early
Fri, Jan 9 2015When Porsche launched the Cayenne, enthusiasts and purists – in between fits of rage – rationalized the SUVs existence by imagining that the money it brought in would guarantee the company's continued ability to produce the many beloved versions of its 911. The same was said when the Panamera arrived, and again when the Macan was unveiled. What probably wasn't imagined when these three more mainstream vehicles joined the Porsche catalog, was how dramatic an impact they'd have on the company's sales figures. The company expects 2015 to be a banner year, as it aims to hit a 200,000-unit sales goal three years ahead of schedule. Porsche sold nearly 190,000 units in 2014, a gain of 17 percent over 2013, while its year-over-year sales for December were up 39 percent. Considering Porsche made these gains before the full impact of the new Macan could be felt, it's no wonder the company is so keen on 2015. Porsche has already moved 45,000 Macans, which would be impressive on its own, were it not for the way the CUV is elevating the brand. According to a report from Reuters, two-thirds of the company's Macan deliveries have been to first-time Porsche customers. Considering these two facts, it will be extremely interesting to see the impact Porsche's newest model has on its sales over a full calendar year.
Porsche reveals new 911 GT3 R at the Nurburgring
Fri, May 15 2015On any given weekend, you're bound to find gaggles of Porsche 911s zipping around most any race track. Now Porsche has revealed its latest competition model at no less fitting a location than the Nurburgring. The new 911 GT3 R replaces the existing version, slotting in below the 911 RSR. It's based closely on the road-going 911 GT3 RS, and retains the same 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six with direct injection and variable valve timing, but tuned to deliver over 500 horsepower, transmitted to the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential paddle-shift gearbox and mechanical limited slip differential. The wheelbase has been stretched over three inches for better weight balance compared to the outgoing GT3 R, further optimized by more lightweight components and a central radiator to lower the center of gravity. The lightweight bodywork is made of aluminum, steel, and carbon fiber, and for the first time all of the glass (including the windscreen) has been replaced by plexi. Stopping power is provided by six-piston aluminum monoblock calipers gripping 380-millimeter steel discs up front, with four-piston calipers and 372-mm discs at the back. The safety fuel cell can now hold 120 liters of fuel with a cut-off safety valve, the doors and windows can be removed, and the escape hatch is bigger, too. All of this adds up to the promise of a more competitive GT3 R ready to take on the competition, available to privateer racing teams from December for 429,000 euros before tax – working out to about $487k at current exchange rates. World premiere at the Nurburgring Lighter, more economical, faster: the new 911 GT3 R Stuttgart. Based on the 911 GT3 RS production sports car, Porsche has designed a customer sport race car for GT3 series around the world: The 911 GT3 R. In developing the more than 368 kW (500 hp) racing nine-eleven, special attention was paid to lightweight design, better aerodynamic efficiency, reducing consumption, improved handling, further optimised safety as well as lowering service and spare parts costs. Adopted from its production sibling, the 911 GT3 R features the distinctive double-bubble roof, and the wheelbase which had been lengthened by 8.3 centimetres compared to the previous generation. This ensures a more balanced weight distribution and more predictable handling particularly in fast corners corners in comparison to the previous GT3 R.
Porsche goes karting in its Cayman GTS
Sun, 03 Aug 2014Think Mini is the king of Go-Kart Handling[TM]? Well, you might be mistaken, as Porsche proves here it's fully capable of delivering a driving experience that'd fit in quite nicely on a go-kart track.
Using a new and very red Cayman GTS, the Stuttgart-based manufacturer invades a kart track in northern Italy and sets the mid-engined sports car loose to slip, slide and zip its way around the circuit. As far as videos for Sunday evening go, this one ticks all the boxes.
Take a look.
