I bought this car as a incredibly clean and well cared for 914. As you know these cars were not well loved in most cases, and discarded as not collectables in the past. But in recent times these cars are highly sought after, if in collector condition. With the rise of value of the early long hood 911's fastly approaching over $100k, collector 914's are a real bargain. This car was owned by a longtime 914 follower, and was part of a group of 914's he had, I was able to convince him to sell me the car to restore to its current condition, because, I too LOVE these little Porsches. This car was in excellent running condition and had recently had all the drivetrain and suspension gone through, so really all it needed to be restored was the cosmetics and paint. Right away I had the cars exterior and interior dissasembled to be prepped for paint. It was an easy car to get painted because it had very little bumps and bruises on the exterior, just the original optional Silver Metallic L96D paint was faded and had to polish left to it. While it was out for paint I ordered almost every seal for the body and Targa top. The interior was in great condition except for a couple spots where the seat bottoms had some stress cracks. So I had a new seat material replaced, and ordered RS America door cards from Appbiz to give the interior a great look. The original interior door parts come with the car as well, plus all the hardware that was replaced. The Targa Top was completly redone with all new seal and door window seals and wipers. I spent several thousand and parts suppliers like Sierra Madre and Pelican Parts. Also brand new door handles for both sides were installed. All the trunk and bonnet seals were replaced as well. After the car came back from paint, it was wet sanded and polished to perfection. The hell hole battery tray area is in great condition, only repair spot I found on the car was in the rear trunk area where a section of metal was replaced. It is a solid repair that will not give the new owner any issues. Other upgrades on this car are the very popular Rivera wheels that have been restored and look great with this 914 stance. The tires have lots of life left and drive down the road with no vibrations or wandering. The prior owner had done the back date to this car with the more popular chrome bumpers and impact strips. That is what makes this car so cool, to get the latest and best 914 motor and the early 914 look. To finish of the car Porsche script was added to the side profile and a offset vinyl stripe to hood and deck lid, that could be removed easily if the buyer wanted, but I love it! I am sure I am missing other things we did to the car, what I do the winner of this No Reserve Auction will be very happy. Good Samaritan pulls key from hit-and-run driver
Mon, Feb 15 2016A man in England stopped a hit-and-run driver from fleeing the scene by grabbing her keys from the ignition. On February 13, Michael Scott witnessed a crash on a busy road in Birmingham, England according to the Telegraph. He watched as a Vauxhall Astra crashed into a Porsche right in front of his vehicle. At first, it seemed like the offending driver was going to stop, but she just kept going. Luckily, Scott had his dashboard camera rolling at the time. "I was shocked when the Astra driver didn't stop, and just carried on accelerating up the road," Scott told the Telegraph. "I thought the driver was trying to do a runner, so when the car in front of me moved off I managed to speed up and block the Astra in. Scott rushed ahead of traffic to cut off the Vauxhall in a turn lane a few hundred feet from where the crash originally occurred. The running driver then maneuvered around Scott, but was blocked by another car from making a clean getaway. Scott then nabbed the driver's keys to keep her from fleeing again. "I was in a rush so I couldn't stop, but I gave her keys to the Porsche driver and left," Scott told the Telegraph. "I contacted the police to let them know I had footage of the incident too." When police arrived they found both drivers were unhurt, though the Porsche will probably need some expensive repairs. The fleeing driver was charged with drinking and driving and is currently out on bail.

VW could fight Uber Black with Porsche and Audi vehicles
Fri, Jun 3 2016Last week, the Volkswagen group dumped $300 million into Gett, a taxi hailing-cum-ride sharing app that's big outside of the US. Now, the company has revealed that it's pondering a rival to Uber Black by offering private drivers access to its higher-end vehicles. Details are scarce since it's a single line reference in a very long press release, but VW says that it's looking at a "special chauffeur service" that features "premium brands, such as Audi and Porsche." What that looks like in reality is anyone's guess, although the idea of getting ferried around in an Audi RS 7 does have some appeal. The deal with Gett will concentrate on getting Volkswagen cars into the hands of Gett's drivers with the promise of juicy discounts. For instance, the firm will offer a special package that'll bundle car insurance and servicing with the purchase price, which can be paid by a would-be operator in installments. It's a similar deal to the one that Uber offers would-be drivers, letting them buy cars from manufacturers like Volkswagen, Ford and Toyota at a discount. Uber, however, also lets prospective cabbies rent their vehicle on a monthly basis, thanks to a deal with Enterprise. Both of which will likely become more muscular now that Uber has a further $3.5 billion in its back pocket. The troubling fact for the auto industry is that people will still need cars, but it's likely that they won't need as many as they do right now. On-demand services and self-driving vehicles are, after all, intended to shuttle around cities like an ersatz taxi-cum-metro system rather than sitting in parking lots. The concepts of ownership that we currently hold dear (and the profits that car companies get from them) are likely to fade away in the next, say, fifty years time. As such, conglomerates like VW will have to reinvent themselves as both manufacturer and transport company in one. But these changes are never easy, especially when the biggest car firms have tons of baggage that slows down their progress. Many are still devoting time and resources to producing thousands of new cars with combustion engines that will be on the roads for years to come. Looming in the shadow, however, is the emissions scandal, with the financial and reputational penalties likely to be felt for years to come. Younger, more nimble rivals without legacy businesses, like Tesla, are working on mass-producing electric cars for mass-market prices.
