It is an original silver car with only one repaint. Always a garaged California car. The odometer works and shows 27,000. The body is rust free and no sign of accidents or damage although there is a small depression ding on rear right quarter near the turn signal see photos. It is very complete and everything works electrically, lights, turn signals, emergency warning, lighter ect.. Mechanically excellent, the original engine maintains its fuel injection and starts up on the first turn of the crank. It has a super nice tone thru a Monza style sport exhaust system. It has a really nice rumble to it... It has fairly new tires all around on original 2.0 Fuchs alloy (5)wheels in excellent condition. The 5 speed transmission shifts very smoothly in all gears at any speed with no grinding. The GA code engine runs excellent with plenty of power, and is clean and tidy. Appears to be a low miler. The battery was relocated to the front trunk to avoid any potential "hell hole" damage to develop. All lights, fog lights, gauges and clock, function as they should. The oem lenses look awesome. The Targa top is in excellent condition and still fits nicely in the rear trunk over the spare Fuchs. Body is strait smooth original panels with beautiful tight gaps with minimal chips. paint is 9/10. The bumpers are strait and rubber tops are like new, no warping or chips. Doors close tight and windows roll up quickly. All locks and keys function. Original rubber seals in great condition, front widshield has a small spider crack on lower left side. . The interior is original except for the very comfortable Scheel type sport seat, perfectly holds you in tight turns. The dash has some cracks but is still solid, it has a dash mat covering. There was no records only the owners manual, a maintenance book and a tool kit.(included with the sale) Title is free and clear. Collector blue plate NOT included. The car is very quick and tight, the suspension feels very nice and handles wonderfully on mountain drives where this car really demonstrates its handling superiority. A real enjoyable experience and the best 914 I have ever driven, bar none. Never mind that the 73-74 2.0's are rising fast in value, just buy it to drive it fast instead. if serious email me with an offer or for a phone number for additional information additional photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/22815950@N07/sets/72157639778995556/ Please don’t hesitate to come and look at the car in person before the auction ends. Porsche undecided on new 911 GT2 [w/poll]
Thu, 23 Jan 2014Fans of hardcore 911s had it pretty good with the last 997 generation. There was the GT3, GT3 RS, GT3 RS 4.0, GT2 and GT2 RS (pictured above). Each one was faster, more powerful and more expensive than the one below it, but what they all shared was what Porsche purists love most: rear engine, rear drive, a manual transmission and little else.
So far with the new 991, Porsche has only released a GT3 version. Sure, there have been other models, but they're all decidedly more luxurious and less performance-focused. And as impressive a machine as the new GT3 is, it has run the risk of alienating some of its most ardent fanatics with technological interference in the form of a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and four-wheel steering. So what those purists have really been looking forward to is a more hardcore GT3 RS or new GT2. But those may not be coming so quickly.
Speaking with 911 project chief August Achleitner, Car and Driver reports that a new GT2 is anything but a foregone conclusion. The reasons may be partially political, but could be technical in nature as well: with 560 horsepower driving all four wheels, the new 911 Turbo S runs the 0-60 in less than three seconds. Give it more power but less traction, as Porsche has done with past GT2s, and you may not end up seeing an actual improvement in performance. A GT2 that's slower than the Turbo S would be difficult to explain.
2014 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S debut [w/video]
Fri, 03 May 2013
The Turbo S will dispatch the Nürburgring in "well under seven and a half minutes."
Porsche is celebrating the 40th anniversary of its 911 Turbo in the best possible way: by announcing the next-generation of the rear-engined beast. The 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S are here, and man oh man, do they seem like the business.
Porsche celebrates 50 years of 911 with some excellent pics
Tue, 12 Feb 2013The Porsche 911 is one of the most iconic sports cars of all time, and to celebrate the car's first 50 years, Porsche has released a stunning set of photos showing how far the 911 has come from the original back in 1963 to its current 991 generation. Unlike the recent 60-year photo spread that Chevrolet put together for the Corvette, though, Porsche's gallery only shows the original 911 and the current car.
Each time the 911 is redesigned, the car's front fenders, roofline and the shape of the side windows are key focal points. Even some of the interior cues have remained the same over the years, including the positioning of the ignition key on the left of the steering column and the five-gauge instrument cluster layout.
Scroll down for Porsche's press release breaking down the seven generations of the 911, and be sure to check out our gallery with plenty of high-res pics for you to download as a desktop wallpaper. In fact, we're providing these at 1920-pixels-wide instead of our usual 1280 wide. Enjoy!
