RELISTING - DEAL FELL THROUGH. THEIR LOSS - YOUR GAIN!
This is a 1974 Porsche 914 2.0L with less than 140,000 miles on the odometer (but only 17,000 since completion of an extensive and fully documented, three year restoration). The car is painted Porsche Lapis Blue Metallic with a black vinyl interior and is in perfect condition.
This is one heck of a car that has been completely refurbished, significantly upgraded, and meticulously maintained across the board; the photographs document the restoration. Look at the extent of the work done and the care that was taken when re-assembling this beautiful 914; nothing was overlooked or left to chance.
This vintage Porsche has undergone a multi-year restoration. The car was completely disassembled and placed on a rotisserie. The body was stripped to bare metal via media blasting with baking soda. The bare shell and all components were then sprayed with a zinc enriched etching primer. All metal work was old-school metal shaping - there is no bondo or filler in this body. Finish paint is a modern Porsche Lapis Blue Metallic, three color coats and three clear coats, wet sanded and buffed out. All rubber bits, grommets, seals, etc. are NOS OEM; exterior passenger side mirror added; fog lights upgraded to Pilot driving lights which are switched independently from headlights; new front and rear bumper pads. All suspension parts were also completely disassembed, sand blasted and then powder coated. All new suspension components - front and rear OEM Porsche anti-sway bars, Koni adjustable sport shocks, Eibach 100 lb. springs, turbo tie rods, Elephant Racing Control Arm Mounts, Elephant Racing Poly Bronze Bearings; all new OEM rubber seals, gaskets and grommets; all brake calipers rebuilt; 911 19mm master brake cylinder; pedal box rebuilt by Eric Shea; all wiring harnesses rebuilt and repaired by Jeff Bowlsby of San Jose, CA; new dash pad (OEM) and new German carpet set from Autos International; engine completely rebuilt and upgraded - block was hot tanked and all new galley plugs installed, crank was ground and brushed; rods rebuilt, new 96 mm high compression pistons and cylinders, Jake Raby cam; heads received Super Stock service from Al Hoffman in Atlanta, GA (new guides, seats, valves, HD springs, chromoly retainers, HD rocker studs, HD exhaust studs, ground keepers, etc.) Petronix igniter, new throttle position switch, re-calibrated Manifold Pressure Sensor by Geoff Bartelmes; new alternator, new voltage regulator, Chris Foley jet coated Evo headers into Quiet Can, Chris Foley metal fuel lines from tank to engine. New fuel pump within the last year.
I purchased this vehicle for approximately $20,000 and have since purchased a 911 Turbo and a 911 4s and do not have garage space for all three vehicles (my loss - your gain). The original owner had several parts manuals, and invoices pertaining to restoration work which are all available with the car.

2014 Porsche Panamera arrives with new E-Hybrid, long-wheelbase models
Wed, 03 Apr 2013Porsche will officially unveil the refreshed 2014 Panamera at the Shanghai Motor Show later this month, and there's a whole lot in store for the updated model, far beyond the minimal styling tweaks you see here. Sure, there's a new fascia with more prominent LED lighting (including full LED headlamps) and the rump has been tweaked ever so slightly, but the big news for 2014 concerns what's underneath that rakish skin.
First up, Porsche will now offer a Panamera S E-Hybrid model - a plug-in hybrid that builds on the technology first introduced in the Panamera S Hybrid that we tested in 2011. For this new application, a more powerful electric motor and higher-performance battery have been fitted (official specs have not been released just yet), and Porsche says the battery can be recharged in just two and a half hours when the car is plugged in to a 240-volt outlet, and the charging (as well as other vehicle data) can be monitored via a new Porsche Car Connect app available for Android and iOS devices.
The E-Hybrid will have an all-electric driving range of "greater than 20 miles" and will be able to travel at speeds up to 84 miles per hour solely on electric power.
Porsche 918 Spyder gets tiny recall for rear control arms
Tue, 09 Sep 2014As the recent US recall of a single Koenigsegg Agera shows, even low-production supercars aren't immune from safety campaigns. Now, there's another example that even the fastest cars can have their faults. The Porsche 918 Spyder is a pretty fantastic vehicle for its ability to mix hybrid fuel economy and incredible amounts of power, but Porsche has a problem on a few units of its halo model.
According to the recall document from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Porsche needs to inspect and possibly repair five 918s in the US because the rear axle control arms may break, which could cause a loss of control while driving. In the full defect notice, Porsche says that it first noticed the problem on June 26 when the parts failed during "heavy duty durability testing (extreme race conditions)" at the Nardo test track in Italy. It transported the components back to the company's lab for inspection, and on July 18 it issued a stop-sale to inspect the suspension parts on the supercar. The automaker also contacted owners by phone to warn them not to use the car on track, until repaired.
The affected 918s will be inspected, and if the cars have the bad parts, the control arms are will be replaced. Obviously, this will be done at no cost to owners. According to a Porsche spokesperson speaking to Autoblog, in addition to the five US cars potentially affected, there were 45 worldwide. All of the cars have now been checked. Noted Porsche collector Magnus Walker learns what a TED Talk is firsthand
Wed, 23 Jul 2014Porsche collector Magnus Walker has the name and looks of a Viking, but once he starts talking about his life story and what drives him, he's an absolutely fascinating guy. Walker recently gave a Ted Talk at a Tedx conference at UCLA and claimed he didn't really understand the idea behind the speeches. You would never know it, though. Walker is as gifted a speaker as he is a talented restorer of some seriously cool Porsches.
Walker's talk is titled "Go with Your Gut Feeling," and it amounts to his autobiography. He recounts his birth in England, dropping out of school at 15 and moving to the US at 19. Once in Los Angeles, he started selling second-hand clothes and grew it into a fashion business.
Of course, what makes him interesting to us is his passion for Porsches. He fell in love with them when he saw a white 911 as a child at the Earl's Court Motor Show in England, but Walker waited until the '90s to buy his first one. From there he started racing and eventually restoring them. Since the documentary Urban Outlaw about him was released, Magnus has become famous for the love of the brand.
