For Sale: 1974 Porsche 914 2.0L

This car was restored and garage kept for years. I purchased it in December of 2009 and completed the assembly. The car has many period correct upgrades. It has professionally installed welded steel fender flares. The receipts for the paint alone equal near $4,000.00 in 1980s money. It has Koni adjustable shocks and lowering springs. The wheels are period correct BBS with new Kumho Ecsta tires. Many new parts, (too much to list) such as, new clutch cable and throttle cable, weatherstrip, shift bushings, brakes and clutch. It has a strong 2.0 litre engine with dual 44mm Weber carburetors. Many small improvements such as brass rollers on the rear trunk lid hinges and 911 mirrors. Has a really nice top in the rear trunk and a spare “everyday” top on the car. Interior is in really nice condition with short shift kit, dead pedal, Formuling steering wheel and good carpets and door panels. Header panel on the roll bar has only minor cracks and dash has none. Comes with spare transmission, interior parts and some body parts as well. I have over $17,000 in receipts with the car in a folder. There is a Beechcraft airplane fuel filler door installed in the front trunk for fast fill ups and a race car look. The car is set up for autocrossing but is totally streetable. All electrical works except for the fog lights, horn (it did and I suspect horn button), and the oil temp gauge. Bad points are the aforementioned electrical issues and the car was bent slightly in the front. No frame damage, just cosmetic. The bumper and trunk lid were replaced and the paint on the lid is not terrible but not the caliber of the rest of the car. The wheels could use a re-balancing as there is a shake at certain speeds. There is no rust or any dents to be found on the body. I have driven this car with no issues from Lafayette, LA to Braselton, GA and back to camp out in the infield at Road Atlanta (1100 mile round trip). It got nearly 30 mpg average on this trip! Overall, this is a super fun, amazing handling vehicle that is a real head turner. Thanks for looking and feel free to ask any questions. Vehicle is for sale locally so auction may end at my discretion.

1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS takes center stage with Petrolicious

Wed, 04 Jun 2014

Today, one of the most exciting track toys available is the Porsche 911 GT3. Its forbearer, though, was an altogether different beast that was every bit as exciting. Yes, we're talking about the old 911 Carrera RS that blessed the early 1970s. With a mere 1,580 cars built, meant specifically to satisfy the FIA's homologation requirements, the RS is one rare pre-Malaise era cars.
Complete with a 2.7-liter flat-six engine, this RS of Mark Haddawy is one of the earlier examples of the breed (later cars received a larger, 3.0-liter engine). Still, it can scamper to 60 miles per hour in a very respectable 5.6 seconds and will happily hit 150 mph in a straight line. Sporting Porsche's iconic duckbill rear spoiler, the equally iconic Fuchs wheels, as well as slew of options, as Haddawy points out, each of the nearly 1,600 RS models is its own unique iteration on the Porsche performance formula.
Take a look below for the latest video from the crew at Petrolicious.

Porsche Museum highlights history of the 911 RSR

Sat, 12 Jan 2013

Porsche has amassed quite an impressive trophy case in just about every racing series it has ever entered, and one of its most dominant machines has to be the 911 RSR from the 1970s. Taking part in various GT-class competitions, the 911 RSR managed to take home three international and seven German victories in 1973, its very first year of competition.
Not one to downplay its racing successes, Porsche has released an informative video detailing the 911 RSR's impressive heritage. The 1973 RSR model owned by the Porsche Museum is detailed beautifully on video, and we have to say it looks absolutely stunning in its vintage Martini Racing livery.
Have a look at the video below for some historic racing action, along with static shots of one of our favorite Porsche models ever created.

Lexus leads J.D. Power's Vehicle Dependability Study for 2021

Thu, Feb 18 2021

J.D. Power's latest Vehicle Dependability Study is out, and, not surprisingly, Lexus sits at the top for the ninth time in the last 10 years. Right behind Lexus is Porsche, followed by Kia, which is the highest-ranked mass-market brand in the study. Genesis, last year's top-ranked brand (in its first year included in the results), fell from first to eighth, though the G80 sedan did earn an award in its midsize luxury segment. The Porsche 911 was called out as the Most Dependable Model by J.D. Power for the second time in the last three years. The vehicles being studied are from the 2018 model year, which means owners have had three years to get to know their cars and trucks. It's notable that this year's study shows a marked improvement in overall vehicle dependability as tracked by J.D. Power. The overall level of problems, scored by the number of problems per 100 vehicles (PP100), declined by 10% compared to last year.  "The study results validate what we have known for some time," said Dave Sargent, vice president of global automotive at J.D. Power. "Automakers are making increasingly dependable vehicles — but there are still some problem areas that need to be addressed and some warning signs on the horizon." Tesla makes its inaugural appearance on the Dependability Study, though its score of 176 PP100 isn't official. Tesla is the only automaker that has chosen not to grant J.D. Power permission to survey its owners in all 50 states. As we've pointed out in the past, the Vehicle Dependability Study includes eight major vehicle categories grouped by J.D. Power as follows: audio/communication/entertainment/navigation (ACEN); engine/transmission; exterior; interior; features/controls/displays (FCD); driving experience; heating, ventilation and air conditioning; and seats. All issues reported by owners are all tracked equally, which means a problematic phone pairing procedure dings an automaker's rating the same as a blown engine or transmission. And in fact, the ACEN category has more reported problems than any other, which means the majority of problems reported don't lead to a vehicle that leaves its owner stranded.
