1973porsche914 2.l Rebuilt Enginefreshpaintmegasquirt W Improved Fuel System on 2040-cars
Sun Valley, California, United States
Additional photos and details may be added over the next couple days.
Mileage unknown, reads 58,000. Good running condition with freshly rebuilt 2 liter engine(new pistons/cylinders, main and rod bearings, cam, lifters, gaskets, valve guides, etc) Fuel system upgraded to Megasquirt with modern 43psi side feed injectors, Bosch 911 fuel pump and filter setup, moved to front under the gas tank, with steel high pressure line installed, but using the stock plastic low pressure return line, all tuned with Innovate's datalogging/tuning software. 15x8 rims look pretty good, but have blemishes from age. Entire body cleaned/repaired/painted. Re-lubed CV joints. New clutch, speedo, and throttle cables. No work was done on any of the running gear with the exception of the cv joints. Has minimal interior. Windshield has crack behind mirror, but is on the inside of the glass, and has not grown for the past 8 years. There are many shops that can repair the crack if you so desire. Most of the undercarriage has been cleaned up and recoated. Paint is new Eurocote urethane, but is race car grade. It was probably decided some time in the relatively distant past to change the car from it's original color of black, to white, due to the added fiberglass body kit. The doors have baby turbo mirrors. Car was sitting in driveways for the past 20 or so years, with a chevy V6 and a Kennedy adapter kit sitting in parts in the front boot, but never installed. Previous owner/s eventually tossed the whole engine lot in a scrap pile somewhere. I purchased a 914 engine and rebuilt it for this car. The brakes are bone stock. I spent approx. 1000 hours fixing this car up. Repaired rust areas at battery pit, and under seats. Should be good to go for another 10 to 15 years. I can provide and install at additional cost at end of auction, the below engines: Subaru ej25 $2200 installed with megasquirt2 on stock 914 transmission, Horsepower improvement of about 90hp and similar weight. Subaru eg33 $2800 installed with megasquirt2, but necessitates the use of a boxster transmission and clutch, axels, and shift cable mechanisms, so additional cost for that. This can add up to about 160hp above the stock type 4 engine. Can also install boxster engine and trans set if you like, must negotiate price with salvage yard. Also available: Original 72 911S engine installed for $18,000, bolts direct to original 914 trans. The above engine offerings do not include the engine that is in the car now. iow, I keep it. These cars were designed for boxer engines. Don't ask if I will install your "V" type engine. The only exceptions I will make for other engine installs, are the Mazda Wankel engines, up to the 3 rotors, or a Lycoming type aircraft 4 cylinder boxer engine. I, the seller, am perfectly capable of preforming any upgrade you might want to this, or just about any engine or car. There are regularly some really nice tube frame race cars shown here on ebay. The work done on any of those other cars is well within my skill range. |

2015 Porsche Cayenne S
Tue, 23 Sep 2014Oh, Porsche.
Just as the dust settles over the 911 GT3's no manual gearbox kerfuffle, the Germans have gone and yanked the yummy naturally aspirated 4.8-liter V8 from the Cayenne S and replaced it with a twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6. Is nothing sacred in Porscheland?
Perhaps not... but that's not necessarily a bad thing. After all, Porsche famously once said they'd never build a diesel, but when they did, it was actually rather stellar.
All Porsche 911s to get turbos in 2015?
Sun, 19 Oct 2014Currently, Porsche builds two turbocharged 911s - the Turbo and the Turbo S (and their cabriolet counterparts). The rest of the 911 range, meanwhile, is motivated by either 3.4- or 3.8-liter flat-sixes of varying outputs. This clear separation could be set to change in the very near future, though, as rumors continue to swirl that Porsche's rear-engined range could switch exclusively to turbocharged power.
This time, it's Car projecting that the 911 range will go turbocharged as part of a mid-cycle refresh, with the base Carrera's 3.4-liter dropping to 2.9 liters and adding an iron lung, bumping the entry level 911 up to 400 horsepower. Yes, a 400-horsepower, entry level 911. The Carrera S, meanwhile, will retain its 3.8-liter engine, but will also benefit from turbocharging, increasing output to 530 horsepower and 520 pound-feet of torque. So basically, it sounds like the current, 520-hp 911 Turbo will become the next Carrera S.
What does that mean for Porsche's traditional high-performance models? Well, it's a safe bet that the Turbo, Turbo S and eventual GT2 will be producing seriously huge power figures. Based on pure speculation, we wouldn't be shocked to see a 600-hp Turbo, with the S and GT2 increasing output markedly from there.
Are you the Porsche Pajun?
Mon, 17 Nov 2014The prospect of Porsche building a smaller version of the Panamera has been an on-again, off-again proposition as the German automaker seems to go back and forth on the project. Last we heard, Porsche had pushed back the so-called Pajun (shorthand for Panamera Junior) until 2019 at the earliest, but we could be looking at it right here.
The automaker's everything-but-automotive division Porsche Design is working on a luxury condo complex called (simply enough) Porsche Design Tower. It's been three years in the making and will take at least another year or two to complete, but the gist of it is that the 57-floor building will include 132 apartments, each with its own en-suite garage in which the residents' cars will be parked thanks to giant elevators.
Porsche Design released a series of renderings showing what the property will look like once complete. Most of the renderings feature Porsches, of course - production models you can find in any of the brand's showrooms, like the one just 23 miles away in Coral Gables. But one of the renderings of the giant glass elevators shows something rather unusual.
