Hello out there in eBay land and welcome to my auction.  For those of you that follow my auctions you know that I have more than a few fantastic 914 in the last few years.  This one is no exception and my personal favorite.  This is a 1972 1.7 liter car with low actual miles and a perfectly documented history.  An Oregon 3 owner car including myself, I found this car as a total survivor.  Zero rust and all original.  Hell hole and battery tray intact.   Wearing all of its original paint too.  The underside of this Porsche is as dry as a bone.  The lines of undercoating you see on the bottom side is factory.  It has never been touched since.  It does indeed come with the hard Targa top and it is also in excellent shape.

Unfortunately, the paint was pretty tired and as hard as I tried to save it and keep it original I finally decided that the car was nice enough to deserve a real complete paint job.  This is no easy task if you want the job to turn out right.  The car has to be stripped of all of its chrome and bumpers and parts so that the paint can be applied without tape lines and overspray.  It is really an undertaking.  This is before you get into the actual prepping and painting of the car.  We used the exact proper color mix from the Porsche code. (Light Ivory L80E)  We also used 2 coats of base color plus a clear coat.  It is a fantastic paint job.  The car was incredibly straight to begin with so very little filler was needed.  I have included before, during and after pictures as well in my listing.  Please call if you have questions about the paint, painter, or the process.

The secret to a good restoration, or in this case a mini restoration, is to start with a solid car.  Not only was this car solid to begin with it was, is, and has always been a great running and driving car.  It is tuned and tight.  It starts instantly every time without issue.  The gearbox is as good as any I have driven.  The clutch is strong.  Suspension, brakes, steering, all great.  I have a folder on the car FILLED with thousands of dollars’ worth of receipts from years of care.

The interior is all original and still very nice.  Almost perfect!  No holes cut in the door panels factory original radio too.  Yes a standard crack in the dash pad.

The tires are new.  The wheels are Mahle and very nice.  All the gages and lights work properly.  Wipers, gas gage, blinkers, radio, heat..  Everything.

There is a custom performance exhaust on the car and it is really nice, but I am including the original for the purists as well.  I hope the picture demonstrate how nice this car is.  It is as nice as these come and was a lot of work to complete.  The winner of this auction will be happy with this car.  Bid with confidence.

This Scout II has a ton of vintage appeal and will surely be one to hold on to for future appreciation.  It is over 40 years old so if you are not used to a vehicle this old please call me and let me help you make an informed decision about a purchase and what ownership will be like.

I am selling the 914 with a VERY LOW RESERVE and I know it will sell the first go around as long as we all play by these rules.

#1.  Only bid if you have intentions to buy.

#2. Ask any and all questions before bidding.

#3. Please contact me BEFORE BIDDING if you have zero or negative feedback.

#4. This is an AS-IS sale.  I have done my best to describe it exactly as I see it but it has no warranties or guarantees.

#5. I will not accept Pay-Pal for the balance payment of the Porsche.  Pay-Pal is for the deposits only, the balance must be paid by certified check or wire.  Legitimate and legal buyers only please.

Just be real and genuine and I will make sure that the winning bidder is happy with his or her purchase.  I have 100% positive feedback and I plan on keeping that.  Also, I will end the sale for the right offer so don’t wait till the last second and worry about missing out.  Just call me and we will work out a fair price..

I’m Justin my Phone number is 503-969-5127

Porsche close to fix for 911 GT3 engine fires

Sun, 16 Mar 2014

It looks like 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 drivers might actually get to drive their cars again soon. Reports of fires affecting the track-ready Germans first began about a month ago. Then, a few days later, the automaker confirmed two of the five alleged blazes and said owners shouldn't drive their cars until further notice. Porsche then went so far as to offer to pick up the GT3s and transport them to the nearest dealer until the problem was identified and a fix was found. Finally, there appears to be a repair.
"We know the reason and the problem-solving measures. We're testing them," said Porsche CEO Matthias Müller to Bloomberg. The technical fix will be released to owners shortly.
The recall affects all 785 GT3s that have been sold so far, but there have been no reported injuries caused by the fires. When it first announced the safety campaign, Porsche said: "Internal studies to determine the cause of the engine damage have not been completed yet."

Porsche 911 going all-turbo this year save for GT3 and GT3 RS

Fri, Jan 23 2015

The coming Porsche 911 GT3 RS will represent another high-water mark for the brand, and another milestone. Its 500-or-so horsepower and extreme aero are predicted to lop more than five seconds off the 7:20 Nurburgring lap time of the current GT3, making it "comfortably less" than 7:20. Beyond that, its naturally-aspirated 3.8-liter will form the basis of the turbocharged engines going into the standard range of 911s later this year as 2016 models. That's right – if you're looking for a sub-GT3 911 that gulps its air without compressed assistance, then you've only got a few months to get a new one into your garage. Emissions regulations are the reason, of course, with Porsche's R&D chief Wolfgang Hatz saying that, "Every new model will have lower CO2 than before," and "if you look at euro per g/km, then it's turbo." We don't know what the engine lineup will look like, however; a few months ago Car reported that the base 911 would get a smaller-displacement version of the engine, while the S would stick with 3.8-liter displacement and jump to 520 horsepower, which is the same as the current Turbo. After that, Hatz said, "at the end of the decade electrification has to be the next huge step." That means a hybrid 911 is being cooked up somewhere. Yet even as the brand leaps into the new, there's a chance it could dip a toe back into the old: the 911 GT3 RS will launch with a PDK, but Hatz's team is considering adding the option of a seven-speed manual. Elsewhere in the range, the Cayman GT4 is being engineered by Porsche Motorsport as an entry-level racer, with more power than the current Cayman GTS to go with some serious weight loss. They are also developing a track-only model for privateers. The standard Boxster and Cayman will get turbocharged flat-four engines, but there'll be a sporty Boxster that also loses weight and gets more power than the 325-hp Boxster GTS. And that mid-level supercar that's been floating in the ether for years and supposedly sent to purgatory again just last November? It's on the way by 2020 "at the latest," and will use a version of the new V8 that will eventually go into the Cayenne and Panamera. 1950s car ads are timeless

Sat, Aug 8 2015

Usually around the Super Bowl a few great car commercials show up, but for the most part auto ads today pale in comparison to the '1950s and '60s. In an era with a truly viable magazine industry, automakers would take out gorgeous full-page spreads to get the word out about their wares. It was also a time when imports were just hitting the US, and there was a boom in sports cars. Car and Driver has gone for a dig into its advertising archives from when the book was known as Sports Cars Illustrated for a truly great viewing experience. You can imagine a young Don Draper mulling over the copy for these ads, but some of it is laughably quaint today. For example, there's a great image of a driver whipping an Austin-Healey 100 around a track. The italicized red text proudly proclaims, "From 0 to 60 MPH in 10.5 seconds." One of the beautiful parts about these advertisements is that you seldom see photos of the cars. Instead, there are often detailed drawings that slightly distort the vehicles' lines. With this approach, the Porsche 356 ends up looking far more curvaceous than in real life. Plus, the front end of the Chrysler 300 looks large enough to land a helicopter on. The whole thing is worth scrolling through. There are some fascinating glimpses into auto history like an ad for Abarth exhausts before the brand was just known for tuning Fiats.
