THE BLACK IS WELL DONE WITH A FEW MINOR IMPERFECTIONS. RUNS VERY GOOD, NO PROBLEMS, SHIFTS SMOOTHLY, DRIVEN VERY LITTLE IN THE LAST 10 YEARS."

THIS IS A 1971 PROSCHE 914. IF YOU'RE LOOKING AT ALL THE ADDS ON EBAY, THEY ALL HAVE THE HISTORICAL DATA ON THESE CARS SO I'LL JUST DESCRIBE THIS ONE HERE. THIS 914 HAS BEEN PAINTED BLACK AND DETAILS VERY WELL. IT HASN'T BEEN DOCTORED MUCH SINCE THERE ARE 3 SMALL IMPERFECTIONS ON THE BODY TO SPEAK OF. THEY ARE ALL RUST SPOTS, SMALL BUT THERE JUST UNDERNEATH THE PAINT. THE LARGEST IS IN THE PICTURE OF THE TRUNK, JUST RIGHT OFF CENTER, THE OTHER OF NOTE IS JUST BESIDE THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLAMP, YOU CAN SEE IT JUST TO THE RIGHT OF THE LAMP IN THE FRONT VIEW. THEY DO NOT PUSH IN SO I HAVEN'T TRIED TO CHANGE THEM, THEY ARE JUST BUBBLING UNDER THE PAINT. THERE IS VERY LITTLE SURFACE RUST ANYWHERE ELSE INSIDE THE CAR, EVERYTHING IS SOLD. THE CARPETS APPEAR TO BE ORIGINAL AND THE INTERIOR IS INTACT. THE DASH HAS BEEN WELL CARED FOR, ALL GUAGES AND LIGHTS WORK. THE RADIO IS NOT ORIGINAL AND WORKS AS WELL. ALL THE GLASS AND LENSES ARE HERE, A FEW MINOR CRACKS IN A COUPLE LENSES, VERY INSIGNIFICANT. THE CAR OVERALL IS VERY SOLID, AND PURRS LIKE A KITTEN. I DROVE IT RECENTLY, PROBABLY THE LONGEST IT'S SEEN IN YEARS TO GET DETAILED AND WAS SOLID. THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS SMOOTHLY AND I HAVE HAD NO ISSUES WHATSOEVER. I BELIEVE THE ORIGINAL JACK IS HERE IN THE PICTURE, AND THE SPARE AS WELL. A VERY WELL KEPT CAR. THE ODOMETER WORKS AND IS RIGHT AT 89,000 MILES. THE CAR HAS A 2.0 LABEL, AND I HAVEN'T CONFIRMED BUT I WAS TOLD IT IS A 2.0 MOTOR. THERE ARE PICTURES AND IT FITS THE COMPARTMENT WELL AND RUNS VERY SMOOTH, SO I REALLY DIDN'T CHECK IF IT WAS CHANGED.

Porsche 911 Targa leaks out ahead of Detroit debut

Mon, 13 Jan 2014

With the doors of Cobo Center opening for the 2014 Detroit Auto Show this morning, Porsche is set to reveal its new 911 Targa in a matter of hours. But before it gets the chance, the first batch of images have already leaked out, courtesy of Chinese car site autohome.com.cn.
As expected, the new Targa appears to ditch the complex sliding glass roof panels that adorned recent versions of the semi-convertible 911 in favor of a more back-to-basics approach. An entirely removable roof panel opens up the sky, backed by a metallic B-pillar hoop in front of a large curved-glass rear window.
We'll have to wait just a little longer for the full scope of images and all the official details, but we're expecting the new Targa to carry most of the same technical specifications as the 991 on which it's based. Watch this space for more.

Gary Cooper's 1935 Duesenberg SSJ fetches record price at Pebble Beach

Mon, Aug 27 2018

The 1935 Duesenberg SSJ formerly owned by Gary Cooper sold for a jaw-dropping $22 million over the weekend at the Gooding & Co. Pebble Beach auction, setting a record for the most valuable pre-war car ever sold at auction. It also appears to have become the most expensive American collector car ever sold at auction, eclipsing the very first Shelby Cobra ever made, which sold for $13.75 million in 2016. The Duesenberg was also the lone American-made entrant in the list of top 10 sellers, which was crowded with the names Ferrari and Porsche. You have to go all the way down the list to No. 21 to find the next American car: a 1930 Packard 734 Speedster Phaeton, which sold for a mere $1.127 million. All told, Gooding & Co. said it realized more than $116.5 million in auction sales over the weekend, with a whopping 25 cars sold for north of $1 million, an 84 percent sales rate and an average transaction price of $947,174. Clearly this is how the other half 1 percent lives. Gooding & Co. said there were five world-record sales at the auction. Joining the Duesenberg were a 1955 Ferrari 500 Mondial Series II, which sold for $5.005 million; a 1958 Ferrari 250 GT Tour de France Berlinetta, $6.6 million; a 1967 Ferrari 330 GTC Speciale, $3.41 million; and a one-of-two 1966 Ferrari Dino Berlinetta GT, $3.08 million. Oh, and that 1969 Ford Bronco test vehicle we told you about? The one that was rebadged by Holman & Moody as a Bronco Hunter? It sold for $121,000, which was well below the expected range of $180,000 to $220,000. Perhaps it was the presence of all those gorgeous Porsche Spyders and Ferraris that meant collectors weren't interested in boxy, utilitarian off-roaders. View 24 Photos Gooding and Co. had expected the convertible Duesenberg coupe to go for more than $10 million. It was one of only two of its kind built by Duesenberg — the other having gone to Clark Gable — with a specially shortened, 125-inch wheelbase and a supercharged straight-eight with double overhead cams, able to produce around 400 horsepower and a top speed of 140 miles per hour. It features a lightweight open-roadster bobtail body produced by LaGrande out of Connersville, Ind. The car was also owned at one point by race driver Briggs Cunningham.

Porsche Fire and Ice is chilling art born of flames

Wed, 01 Jan 2014

Porsche held a contest inviting ten filmmakers to riff on the tagline for the Panamera, "Thrilling Contradictions," in a 60-second film. The winner was an entry called Fire and Ice by director Ross Cohen, a concept that uses just those two elements in a premise as simple as it is rewarding. For his efforts, Cohen will receive a trip to the Chicago International Film Festival, and you might see the short in the pre-movie advertisements in a theater served by Spotlight Cinema Networks.
Porsche did this kind of thing just two years ago, when it asked filmmakers to illustrate the idea of "Everyday Magic". The winner of that contest, Michael Korbel's It's a Magical Life, followed the journey of a young man to husband and father from the perspective of the trunk of a 911. You'll find that video as well as Fire and Ice below.
