1970 Porsche 914/6 Original 6 Cyl Model One Of 3333 Made! 9140430933 on 2040-cars
Little Falls, New Jersey, United States
Original six, VIN 9140430933 with certificate of authenticity. Number 933 out of 3333 6 cylinder models made. Prefix on the title is 3. I know the 2 prior owners and have a pretty good idea what's been done to the car before i got the car. Car was repainted black in early nineties. At that time the rear fenders were cut, metal added and rewelded for a nice soft flare look while retaining the original lip. Original color was # 15, Irish (Forest) green. At the same time the engine was swapped to a 2.4 (as per # on engine case). Engine runs strong! Started right up this morning!
The good: Car runs like a raped ape! When I first got the car in 2005, i dropped the engine and transaxle to replace clutch and flywheel, adjust valves and redo carbs. I have pictures of the engine/transaxle removal. In addition, I have a receipt for over $10,000 of work from 2007. The minor rust issues were taken care of professionally by Powertech, a reputable Porsche Repair shop in North Jersey. Rust repairs included the driver side wheel well, right side rear frame area in engine compartment (under original battery pan area), and partial floor pan replaced. Link to chassis pictures below. It looks as good or better underneath then on top! At the same time I had the engine resealed, new style (bronze?) cam tensioner bushings installed, and leakdown tested (test results will be provided with car, results are; one cylinder had 3% leakage and the rest were 1 or 2 % leakage.) New carpet and driver side seat cover was installed at that time. Carrera front end with new Porterfield pads and new rotors in the summer of 2008. New stainless brake lines, new hard lines as well. Car has fresh as of 2008 Koni yellows in the rear with 165 progressive springs. Also a Rennshift shifter, original transaxle converted to sideshift, bronze bushing in shifter console and shifts pretty decent for 1970 technology. I have original shifter and knob with the throttle linkage that goes with the package. Comes with 2 sets of fake fuchs, 15x7 and 15x8, one set has low mileage kumho asx tires while the other set has Hoosier A6's from 2008 with 0 runs on them. Battery mounted in front trunk, front mount oil cooler with stainless lines from engine, tilton brake bias valve, Electromotive crankfire ignition, K&N airfilters, battery cutoff, bolt in roll cage with camera mount (Note some pieces of roll bar are not mounted now, namely the two door bars and the top front bar), OMP seats mounted on original sliders (pass side too), 4 pt. harnesses, Sony Cd/mp3 player with powered subwoofer mounted behind passenger seat, weltmeister front bar, weltmeister rear bar (not installed), extra street pads, new hp plus front pads, uninstalled aluminum upper rear shock mounts (Brad's), front tow bar mount and tow bar are included. Wipers work, headlights work, brake lights work, reverse lights work, interior lights work. Included are the original shifter including the hand throttle plus extra head light motors, accelerator cable mount, rear caliper parts, steering parts, clutch cable, and so on. Please see the pictures. Also included with the sale is a folder and note book of pertinent info such as engine #, Strut #. air gap for ignition, copy of prior title, etc. etc. The bad, Non original tach, combo gauge, and gas gauge. No heat due to headers. Defroster does not work (note, light comes on but no fan). Shifting too fast from first to second will cause a slight grinding noise. Could be a linkage adjustment. Under normal shifting, no grinding when shifting any gears. Small superficial rust spots can be seen on the bottom side of trunk pan. See the chassis picture link below. Paint is not that great. Shines nice when waxed but still see some scratches and small indentations. There is some hazing in the paint on both doors from when I left the magnetic numbers on after being in 95 degree heat at an autocross, then getting caught in a rainstorm afterward and leaving the numbers on the car for a week. Hood and trunk (Mostly trunk) have some indentations agout the size of a dime. There are a few little spots just below drivers side sail panel where the paint is bubbling that may be rust. On the front passenger fender, there is a small spot where the paint peeled off. The rest of the car has some minor scratches as well, but overall, the car shows pretty good when detailed . Not too bad looking for a 24 year old paint job on a 44 year old car. Also, the headliner (yes it's still there!) has an indentation from the roll bar going from left to right, the targa top has two small dings on the rear (see picture), the front left parking light is cracked and there are light scratches on the front left fender and the rear right side of the trunk lid. The scratches buff out with a machine and a filler type wax. i looked over this car to the best of my ability however, there may be other really light scratches and imperfections on the car that i did not notice. Please remember this is not a minty cream puff but a good looking, extremely solid example of a rare classic from 1970. I will make myself available for the buyers choice of a car pick up service after the payment is cleared with my bank. Here is a link to many pictures on flickr. If the link does not work, please message me and I will email you the link. Please ask questions before you make your offer as you are entering a binding contract when you offer. I may just take your offer as long as it's not ridiculously low! Please have the funds ready before you make your offer!! If you have any comments about my pricing other than an offer, please use one of the 914 forums to discuss that. Here is not the place for that. Upon offer acceptance, I require a deposit of $500.00 via paypal with balance due within seven (7) days by bank check, wire transfer, or cash. Car will be released AFTER, and only after the funds clear in my bank. Thank you for looking. In case you missed the link for more pictures in the third paragraph, here it is again: 914 Chassis Pics |

What's the deal with comedians and their cars?
Mon, May 22 2017'Round about the time in his life when it should happen for all of us, Jerry Seinfeld's ship came in with a force that almost split the dock. He'd been doing pretty well with his observational style ("There's a cereal now that's just cookies. Have you seen this? Cookies for breakfast. It's called Cookie Crisp. Cookies for breakfast! They oughta just call it 'To Hell With Everything!'"). But he showed no signs of setting the world on fire until he got cast in a show that was either about – depending on the level of comedy geek you ask – the average New Yorker, the very worst people in the world, or nothing. Suddenly Jerry Seinfeld was pretty much the center of the comedy universe. And while his comedy was at once both brilliantly innovative and rooted in the mundane, his next move was a predictable grab at something exotic – he went out and bought his dream car. A rather nice 911, actually. As almost everyone knows, it didn't stop there, and the man put together one of the most enviable collections of iconic Porsches we're likely to see. So what's the connection, if there is one, between cars and comedy? As far as Jerry Seinfeld (the man) is concerned, he's probably not the same guy as the Jerry on Seinfeld (the show) although it's hard to say for sure; his public persona is almost unnervingly well managed. But cars and comedy were the constants in his life then, and, well, just look at what the guy does now; Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee is a cultural constant, and we're certainly seeing Seinfeld the man in that one, and cars are obviously still central to his life. And it's been that way with a lot of very, very good comedy guys. Cars seem to round out their lives, to become the yin to their comedy yang. Ernie Kovacs might not have invented visual gags or surreal humor, but he got them both to kill on television in the 1950s, so he's a comedy hero. He died behind the wheel of his beloved Corvair wagon, so he's absolutely some kind of car-guy hero as well. Bill Cosby, the hottest name in comedy for a good long while, had Ferraris, one of two fire-breathing supercharged big-block Cobras (pictured below), and a BMW 2002tii – none of which either contributed to or in any way make up for the profoundly sociopathic creature he turned out to be, but it's still a data point. The Smothers Brothers, who defied the networks and the norms by getting blatantly political before that sort of thing was cool, went sports car racing.
Porsche kicks off Macan production at revamped Leipzig plant
Sun, 16 Feb 2014After over two years of construction and roughly 500 million euros ($684 million at current rates) invested, Porsche finally opened its Leipzig, Germany, factory expansion on February 11. The improvements to the plant are dedicated to building the Macan and include a new body shop, paint shop and assembly line that are advancing Porsche's goal to sell 50,000 Macan's per year. The company believes that the new model is going to push it to over 200,000 annual sales 3 years ahead of schedule, and the enlarged branch can support even more Macan production, if there is demand.
"We are totally convinced in the qualities of this location and that the Macan will be a marketing success," said Porsche Chairman Matthias Müller during the opening celebration. The company opened its Leipzig factory in 2002 to build the Cayenne and added Panamera production in 2009.
The Macan models are due to launch in the US this summer with prices starting at $49,900. Scroll down to learn all of the details about the Macan's Leipzig assembly plant.
Michael Jordan's cars showcased in 'The Last Dance' documentary
Sun, May 10 2020After the masses begged and pleaded for an early release, ESPN finally unlocked the doors to the biggest production in company history last month. Episodes 1 and 2 of The Last Dance, a 10-part documentary special about Michael Jordan, the Chicago Bulls, and the 1997-1998 season, was released at last on April 19, 2020. Each week since, two new episodes have aired on Sunday nights, and the next two, episodes 7 and 8 are scheduled to drop this weekend on May 10. With unprecedented video access to MJ, who became averse to the media during his playing days, a byproduct from The Last Dance is a look at some of Jordan's cars. The Goat's taste ranges across a number of brands, but they all had one thing in common: performance as a top priority. Below, we have listed the rides that have already appeared in the series, and each week, we will update with new car cameos. Chevrolet Corvette C4 The photo above somewhat epitomizes one of the themes of The Last Dance. Everybody, whether that was men, women, children, franchise owners, reporters, coaches, teammates, or opponents, wanted a piece of Jordan. If that meant stopping in the middle of the road to get an autograph, then so be it. Around town, MJ was fairly easy to spot due to his flashy cars that occasionally wore Bulls red. Jordan has driven numerous Corvettes throughout the years, but the C4 is unique in that it was Chevy's top ride when Jordan signed an endorsement deal with the American company during his rookie year in 1984. Two famous photos, one in front of the Chicago skyline, show him standing next to a C4 with the license plate "Jump 23." This exact car, however, came later, as indicated by the squared-off taillights. He went on to star in a number of Chevrolet commercials with vehicles such as the Blazer and S-10 pickup truck. Chevrolet Corvette C5 The most notable Corvette His Airness ever owned was likely the C4 40th Anniversary ZR-1, but he also drove a C5 coupe at one point. Roughly nine minutes into the first episode, Jordan is seen driving the chrome-wheeled targa top into the parking lot at the Berto Center, the Bulls old practice facility.  Ferrari 550 Maranello Roughly three minutes into episode four, viewers get a glimpse of Jordan's exotic taste in the form of a red Ferrari 550 Maranello.
