Up for sale is my restored California 1967 Porsche 912

This car is in excellent condition with original interior.  I have 3 classics from the 60’s and sadly have to sell one of them to help fund a real estate venture.

Details:

I purchased this car a year ago when it had a bit under 121, 200 miles – have put a bit over 2,600 miles on it since – it is a blast to drive.  The previous owner:

  • ·      rebuilt the engine at 120,499 miles and upgraded it to 1750CC (engine # 751120)

  • ·      rebuilt original Solex carbs

  • ·      New engine sound padding installed

  • ·      Rebuilt Brake calipers and brake system bled and gone through

  • ·      replaced the clutch

  • ·      rebuilt the 5-speed transmission with new synchros

  • ·      installed new Koni shock absorbers

Since purchasing the car, I have:

  • ·      resealed the engine and replaced the valve covers

  • ·      replaced the after market cooler with factory cooler

  • ·      replaced the oil pressure switch

  • ·      repaired the wiring at the headlamps

  • ·      installed a new original Porsche exhaust/muffler

  • ·      replaced the rear bushings

  • ·      powder-coated the original steel wheels

Those are the highlights.  I have all receipts for my work and the previous owner’s work.  I have been told that the engine and body are matching numbers.

Car was also re-painted Polo Red a few years ago – correctly with all glass pulled out - and shows very well with even shine.  Car has all new window and door seals.  The body has no rust and is straight.  Interior is the original and for it’s age in excellent shape – has signs of wear, but no tear or cracks anywhere – a nice patina.  Car was garage kept for over 30 years before I bought it and I continue to garage it.

In short, this is a fantastic example of a 1967 Porsche 912.  It drives firm, fires up from cold every time, and with the little extra CC, has a nice engine growl and extra pop in the pedal.  Have driven it mostly on the weekends, around town or up the coast and it works great as a city or vacation car.  I am sad to give it up, but of my three classics, this is the least rare.  I hope it finds a good home with an owner who will continue to care for and enjoy it.  I was even able to find an original ad from the original dealer here in SoCal – it’s framed and comes with the sale.

This car comes with a reasonable reserve for a car in its condition.   I’m located in Los Angeles if you want to come by and look at the car.  E-mail me at litzewen@gmail.com if you have any questions.  I will be advertising this car through other sources so I reserve the right to end the auction if someone makes me an acceptable offer.  Thank you and good luck!

Porsche offering short-term loans to Macan waitlisters

Wed, 02 Jul 2014

Walk into a Porsche dealer today, place an order for a Macan and you'll be looking at a waiting period of six months or more before you can expect delivery. That may be common enough for high-end European automakers, but the Macan is meant to lure new buyers to the brand, and the waitlist could be enough to deter them from sticking around.
The solution? Offer to lease them a Boxster or Cayman until their new Macan arrives. Shorter in term that the usual new-car lease, these six-month terms are designed to keep buyers from turning their backs, all the while experiencing the kind of vehicle Porsche does best.
Of course it doesn't hurt that the dealer then gets a used sports car to sell again once the short-term lease is up. And we wouldn't be surprised to see some buyers asking to hold on to their mid-engined sports car for a little longer, either.

Porsche 911: Big in Taiwan

Fri, 09 Aug 2013

Porsche is continuing celebrations for the fiftieth anniversary of its iconic 911. In its latest video, it's gone to Taiwan, to interview some of the folks that have grown passionate about the rear-engined sportscar over the years.
By and large, the views expressed in this video could have come from anywhere in the world. The 911 is a great car and that doesn't change from country to country. These enthusiasts have the same passion that fans in England, the United States or Germany have for the Carrera. Take a look below at the full video, to see what the 911 enthusiasts of Taiwan love about their 911s.

Porsche considering turbo for new GT3 RS [w/poll]

Tue, 03 Jun 2014

Some automakers make one hardcore version of a sports car and are done with it. Or at least they make one at a time. Think Ferrari 458 Speciale, Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera (or Super Trofeo Stradale or Squadra Corse) or Maserati GranTurismo MC. But not Porsche. It transforms the 911 into the hard-core GT3, the even harder-core GT3 RS, the you've-got-to-be-psychotic GT2 and the do-you-have-a-death-wish GT2 RS. The RS models take things to a further extreme, but what separates GT3 from GT2 models has traditionally been the use of foced induction: GT3s are naturally aspirated, while GT2s go turbo. But that could all be about to change.
According to the rumors making their round of the webosphere, Porsche is considering using a turbocharged engine for the next GT3 RS. The reason is that, as we all know, Porsche has already pushed the 3.8-liter flat-six in the existing GT3 about as far as it can go, and then some. And buyers expect not only a more bare-bones package with the GT3 RS, but also a bit of extra power.
Given that everything seems to be going turbo these days, the move might make some measure of sense, especially if Porsche wants to avoid with the GT3 RS the spontaneous combustion issues it faced with the GT3. But we can't help but wonder why, at that point, it wouldn't just skip the GT3 RS and go straight for the GT2.
