Porsche 1966 912 on 2040-cars
Long Beach, California, United States
This car was purchased as a full restoration project in mind, but priorities have changed and I must list it...
This 1966 Porsche 3 Gauge Short Wheel Base (VIN# 352725 Engine# 745748, 5-speed) was the 754th car delivered in the calendar year of '66 from the Porsche Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen factory as opposed to the Karmann factory in Osnabruck. Originally a Black license plate (WMDxxx) California car delivered with the uncommon color of Aga Blue(#6608,a dark blue). The original engine is fitted with Dellortos, turns over, but have not tried to start or drive without going through the fuel system. The Interior was done with non-original upholstery and carpets. The Front Bumper is included, but I never got the Rear Bumper. Horn Button(not pictured)is included. Solid Original Floors! Rear wheelwells have been flared, not added, and I'm told they could be reworked back to original. It has the typical rust in the battery area and will need replacement of a Front Suspension Repair Panel($150,Not Included). 2 small holes in each corner at the bottom of rear windshield. The Jack Spurs are Solid, able to lift the car with the Porsche Jack. The paint around them from the numerous, earlier paint applications is flakey, not Rusty. This is an honest, nothing hidden, solid '66 Early 3-Gauge Porsche car to restore ! I will assist Buyer in transporting to the Shipper if the sale is not local. If you are the successful bidder in this reserve auction, a $500.00 PayPal deposit will be required within 48 hours. Full payment is expected within a week and the car will be released when your payment instrument, other than cash, clears. |

2014 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet spotted testing in the nude
Tue, 16 Jul 2013The Porsche 911 wouldn't be the Porsche 911 unless there were twenty-something different models to choose from (note: we are not complaining), and the latest one was just spied by our trusty photographers out on Germany's Nürburgring. Feast your eyes on the 911 Turbo Cabriolet - the droptop version of the new Turbo wonder that debuted in May - looking all sorts of stealth in its black-on-black-on-black prototype scheme.
Mechanically, the 911 Turbo Cab should be identical to the fixed-roof version, meaning a twin-turbo 3.8-liter flat-six engine will live in the car's rump, putting out something like 520 horsepower. Of course, there's also the hotter Turbo S version of the coupe, and we expect that to get the droptop treatment, as well, with 560 horsepower on tap. The added weight of the folding top and additional structural supports will likely make for slightly slower 0-60 times for both cars, though considering the base Turbo will hit 60 miles per hour in 3.2 seconds, "slower" is a very relative term indeed. All that force will run to the ground via all-wheel drive, managed by Porsche's seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission.
The wide stance of the 911 Turbo Coupe carries over to the Cabriolet, no doubt fitted with the same (standard) 20-inch wheels. Inside, the usual luxury amenities will be on hand, along with nearly endless customization options.
All the crazy stuff we saw at McCall's Motorworks Revival
Thu, Aug 18 2016Every year, Gordon McCall puts on a lavish event packed with rare cars and planes (and the type of people that can afford rare cars and planes). And every year, more ridiculous stuff shows up. It's the good kind of machine overload. It's likely the only place in the world where you'll see a line of BMW 3.0s next to some Paganis next to a Porsche 911 by Singer Design next to a Ferrari salt racer next to a custom Olds Riviera next to the latest from Koenigsegg next to he coolest stuff Shelby ever made next to a hangar filled with McLarens, including a few P1 GTRs. And then all of that is surrounded by private jets, fighters, and planes that could have flown in directly from WWII. In a word, it's insane. Walk through the gallery above to get a taste for what was there this year for the event's 25th anniversary. On Broughams and Alfas | Autoblog Podcast #501
Fri, Jan 27 2017On this week's podcast, Mike Austin and David Gluckman discuss the odd history of the oft-recycled Brougham name. (Did you know some people pronounce it "broom" and they're not wrong?) There is of course discussion of what they've been driving lately, and things wrap up with Spend My (Your) Money buying advice to help you, our dear listeners. The rundown is below. Remember, if you have a car-related question you'd like us to answer or you want buying advice of your very own, send a message or a voice memo to podcast at autoblog dot com. (If you record audio of a question with your phone and get it to us, you could hear your very own voice on the podcast. Neat, right?) And if you have other questions or comments, please send those too. Autoblog Podcast #501 The video meant to be presented here is no longer available. Sorry for the inconvenience.
