On Jan-07-14 at 14:21:17 PST, seller added the following information: Sadly the time has come to sell some of my cars. Reason for sale is a 2 year old and simply not enough time, and in the case of this car not enough room for a baby seat. I have owned this car for nearly 5 years and held on last year to join the 50th Birthday celebrations. As with every purchase, I bought the best I could. This car was purchased from a Toronto collector. At that time he supplied a vehicle appraisal from April 2005 (Hogtown Old Cars, Toronto) with value at $15,700. That appraisal is available scanned via e-mail and will come with the car as part of it's history. During my ownership it has only been used on dry Summer days and stored in a heated environment during the Winter. I have been fortunate enough to race against big brother 911's so appreciate the timeless lines, most often whilst passing me. Being a '67 the lines are not spoiled by mandated side reflectors. The exterior of the car is of sound quality. The paint has some crazing/cracks but these have not advanced during my ownership. They are on the bonnet and pictured on left rear fender. There is no evidence of rust and underneath the car is solid with no welding/repairs. Under arches are clean. The chromework is bright. On a negative side there is an abcence of 912 badging (maybe a 911 wannabe) and the front chrome intakes have been machined to take spot lamps. The car starts with ease, pulls well in all gears, stops as it should with discs on all corners, period alloys wearing matching Dunlop rubber (approx 6mm tread left). There is a slight oil weep, I beleive from the lower sump (? retorque/new gasket) but never enough to worry me or my mechanic. The interior is in good condition with a small dime sized wear patch on the driver's bolster. Gauges are of the 'green' variety and working. The headlining is good with one small stain. Negatives to the interior are period speakers. I have exposed the wiring to show how easily these would remove. There is an Alpine CD player, again not in character with the car. Bonnet, boot (hood, trunk) and filler caps open easily. Please request any further car pictures. I would also welcome any inspection. You are bidding on a fast appreciating classic in the region of $20's-30's k. Please prompt payment of deposit and balance. I am aware that car haulage companies wait for orders to fill before giving a date so will give one months grace. Therafter $50 per week for indoor heated storage. This is a penny auction, no reserve, not to be ended early. |

Porsche offering new tire option for Carrera GT
Mon, 19 Aug 2013Let's face it: finding new tires for older cars can be challenging if tire manufacturers have stopped carrying the right sizes (this writer went through Hell to find a set of 205/60-13s). But what about tires for low-volume supercars, which use sizes that often won't fit on high-volume production vehicles? The Porsche Carrera GT isn't that old and tires are still available in the correct sizes, but the German automaker has shown its support of keeping them on the road by working with Michelin to give owners yet another tire option. Enter the Carrera GT-specific Pilot Super Sport.
It's common knowledge that tires are one of the most important pieces of the performance puzzle, and Porsche claims that the PSS tires, sized 265/35ZR-19 front and 335/30ZR-20 with Porsche's "N0" rating, will improve the Carrera GT's handling and stability all the way up to its claimed top speed of 205 miles per hour. That's important for a car with razor-sharp handling characteristics. They'll also net drivers a 10-percent increase in fuel economy on regular roads and up to 20 percent on racetracks, Porsche says.
The PSSs use cutting-edge tire technology to harness the Carrera GT's 610-horsepower. They have a dual-compound tread that's different from the inside of the tire to the outside, which, Porsche says, helps steering precision and increases maximum grip. Aramid fibers, which are lightweight but just as strong as steel, are used in the tire's belt to reduce unsprung weight.

Porsche 5 Series fighter may be electric
Wed, May 6 2015We know that Porsche is developing a seventh model range for its lineup thanks to the March announcement from company boss Matthias Muller. The actual identity of this future vehicle remains a mystery, though. Autocar is coming down firmly on the side of the smaller Panamera, codenamed the Pajun, and speculates the new entry might be available in battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell versions based on recent patent filings. Porsche is famous for sticking with the rear-engine layout on the 911 for decades, even as the company moves the powertrain forward in other models. According to Autocar, the EV version of the Pajun might mark a return to these roots. The German brand is reportedly preparing a modified version of Volkswagen Group's MSB platform for the new vehicle. Called eMSB, the setup puts the batteries and electric motors at the back, and each rear wheel would receive power separately to allow for torque vectoring. The system is estimated to generate 420 horsepower, which is on par with the all-wheel-drive Tesla Model S 85D. The fuel cell Pajun would join the lineup later. The Pajun is rumored to take on the likes of the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, but any luxury EV of that size must count the Tesla Model S as a competitor, too. According to Autocar, the styling takes cues from the Panamera Sport Turismo concept (pictured above) and could launch around 2018. Rumors of Porsche's Tesla-fighter were swirling for months before Muller's announcement, and talk of the Pajun has gone on even longer. Previous reports have suggested the possibility of a 300-mile range and an all-wheel-drive layout with 600 hp. While the actual design has remained ambiguous beyond the potential link to the Panamera, the model was possibly spied last year at the Porsche Design Tower in Florida.
