Up for auction in my 1976 PORSCHE 912e. This car was a part of my 52 car collection of vintage air cooled Porsche's and vintage Volkswagens, this is the very last air cooled German car left in the collection to be sold.I am a long time member in good standing with the Porsche Club of America (PCA) and I have a great reputation in the industry. The car was found and purchased for me by a Southern California auto broker in 2009 and was delivered to me at my home in Durango Colorado on 11/4/2009. The auto broker that purchased the car for me has located and purchased many cars for me over the years and he knows my high standards for purchases. The cars I buy have to be rust free, wreck free and as original as possible and this Porsche 912e met all those guidelines. When I purchased the car it had a very low 133,559 original miles on the odometer and the car now has only 133,855 original miles on the odometer. This is the last car to be sold because I purchased this car for my wife. She dearly loves the car but she never drives it and we are at a point in ours lives where we have two kids in college and our third child is going to need a first car soon so we are selling this car to purchase a new truck for our Son. The Porsche 912e is a very rare car with only 2099 of these cars ever being built and only for the North American market . Out of that 2099 only 500 had sunroofs and only 500 had air conditioning. This car originally had an air conditioner (making this car one of the really rare examples) and the air conditioner pump is still on the car but the controls and vents that were mounted under the dash of the car have been removed by the previous owner. My broker has tried to get this piece from the previous owner several times over the years but has had no luck (this piece is a very common part and is readily available). The 912e is a 911 in every aspect with the exception of 14' Fuchs wheels instead if the 15' that the 911. The 912e gets smaller brakes and the Boxer style four cylinder motor that was derived from the Porsche 356. The 912e was the last four cylinder rear engine car that Porsche ever built. The 912e is much lighter than the 911 and is considered by many top collectors to be the best drivers car Porsche ever produced. The Boxer style motor has been proven over and over through time to be the most reliable and "bullet-proof" motor ever produced by Porsche. Although Volkswagen was heavily involved with Porsche in 1976 the motor in the 912e is all Porsche. The 912e has great fuel economy and the motor in very powerful, it is coupled with a smooth shifting 5 speed transmission. The 912e has a fuel range of 600 miles per tank of gas and it is very inexpensive to run and maintain. Porsche has alway overbuilt their cars and the 912e is no exception. I STRONGLY recommend that you look at Porsche912e.com for a better history and details on this fine automobile. Being very picky as a buyer I purchased this car for my wife knowing that the car is a solid investment quality automobile. This Porsche 912e is a factory yellow car with black vinyl interior, the paint is mostly original but the doors have been painted probably sometime in the '80's and the paint is in really good condition. The interior is completely stock (with the exception of a aftermarket radio that does not work). The only flaws on the interior is a split seam on the passenger seat which is easily repairable and there is one crack on the original dash on the passenger side. The VIN # on this car is 9126001261 making this car the #1261 car to roll off the production line. This car is a very original, complete, well sorted and well maintained numbers matching automobile and it is an original California Blue Plate Car (Blue Plate comes with the car) that has been garaged/ warehoused it's entire life in Southern California and more recently Central Texas. This 912e has to be one of the best original/survivor 912e's in the world, it starts, runs, shifts, drives and stops very well and I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere at any distance. The car sounds, feels, smells and like only a Porsche can and it still has that "PING" sound when you shut the doors (Porsche owners will know what I mean). All the gaps are great and it retains all of it's factory glass. 912e's are coming into the realm of being highly sought after collector cars that are gaining tremendously (and quickly) in value, prices on #1 and #2 condition 912e's have doubled since 2010 and that fact makes it a good time for me to sell the car. This is an opportunity for someone to buy this car at a good price and sit back and watch the car appreciate in value with very little maintenance cost. DON'T PASS THIS CAR UP BECAUSE YOU WILL REGRET IT. This car will drive anywhere and this is a car that you can fly in and drive it home however there are no warranties or guarantees expressed or implied. Outside inspections are welcomed by appointment only and the deposit is non-refundable. Please take a look at my feedback when considering the purchase of this automobile. Bid with confidence and bid to win this beautiful 1976 porsche 912e. Thank you for taking the time to look at my auction and as always HAPPY MOTORING.

Someone needs to option the rights to the Ferdinand Piech story for an HBO series, because it perfectly mixes the corporate intrigue of Mad Men with the family drama of The Sopranos. Plus there are some cool cars. In the latest episode, Piech isn't happy with Volkswagen's appointment of two of his nieces – Julia Kuhn-Piech and Dr. Louise Kiesling – to replace he and his wife on the automaker's supervisory board. The recently ousted chairman could try to stop them. According to German publication Bild, Piech thinks his two relatives lack the necessary automotive experience to serve on the board. Therefore, he suggests one-time Ford Premier Automotive Group boss Wolfgang Reitzle and former Siemens manager Brigitte Ederer to take the seats. However, a VW spokesperson told Automotive News Europe that there were no objections to the women's appointment, except for this story from Germany. Piech's nieces are already officially appointed to the VW supervisory board, and it's approved by the Braunschweig Local Court in Germany. His only real option to challenge them would be to file a lawsuit, according to Automotive News Europe. While the new appointees don't have their uncle's decades of history in the auto industry, they do have business experience. Dr. Kiesling has a degree in vehicle design from the Royal College of Art in London and is the managing director of an Austrian textile maker. Kuhn-Piech works in real estate sits on the supervisory board of German truck maker Man.

We've all heard the horror stories. Your buddy knows a girl that was dating a guy whose best friend's brother once broke his brand-new, recently purchased performance car while making runs at a drag strip or laps at a track day, and the manufacturer wouldn't cover the repair under warranty. True story? Urban legend? Complete crap? Yes, no, maybe. One thing's for sure: Automotive warranties have always come with caveats. In 1908, an ad in the Trenton Evening Times clearly stated: "All Ford Cars Guaranteed for One Year." Although it changed over time, by 1925 the Ford New Car Guarantee only covered 90 days on material and 30 days on labor, and it clearly stated that that there was "No guarantee whatever on Fan Belts, Glass, Bulbs, Wiring, Transmission, Bands, Hose Connections, Commutator Shells, Rollers, Spark Plugs or Gaskets." Whether or not Ol' Henry would pay to fix your Model T if you broke it shaving a tenth off your lap time at the local board track seems to be lost to history. We're guessing no. But what about today? Do new-car warranties in 2017 cover cars when they are driven on race tracks? We researched the warranties of 14 auto brands to find out, and the answer is yes, no, maybe, depending on the brand, in some cases the model, and whether or not your car is modified from stock. Acura has been out of the high-performance car game for a number of years, but jumps back into the party in 2017 with its hybrid-powered $173,000 NSX supercar. And Acura's warranty, as well as Honda's, clearly states that it does not cover "the use of the vehicle in competition or racing events." View 33 Photos So we asked Sage Marie, Senior Manager of Public Relations for Honda and Acura. "If the car is stock, the warranty covers it on a track just as it does on the street. No question," he told us. "However, if the car is modified, say with slick tires or other components that would put higher stresses on the vehicle's parts and systems, then we would have to investigate the circumstances further." Marie went on to say the same would be true for any Acura model or Honda vehicle, including the new 2017 Honda Civic Si. This became a common theme. Chevrolet actually started this practice with the fifth-generation Camaro on the high-performance ZL1 and Z/28 models.

Porsche collector Magnus Walker has the name and looks of a Viking, but once he starts talking about his life story and what drives him, he's an absolutely fascinating guy. Walker recently gave a Ted Talk at a Tedx conference at UCLA and claimed he didn't really understand the idea behind the speeches. You would never know it, though. Walker is as gifted a speaker as he is a talented restorer of some seriously cool Porsches.
Walker's talk is titled "Go with Your Gut Feeling," and it amounts to his autobiography. He recounts his birth in England, dropping out of school at 15 and moving to the US at 19. Once in Los Angeles, he started selling second-hand clothes and grew it into a fashion business.
Of course, what makes him interesting to us is his passion for Porsches. He fell in love with them when he saw a white 911 as a child at the Earl's Court Motor Show in England, but Walker waited until the '90s to buy his first one. From there he started racing and eventually restoring them. Since the documentary Urban Outlaw about him was released, Magnus has become famous for the love of the brand.
