1976 Porsche 912e In Excellent Cond!! 1 Of 2092 Made; 1 Of 10 In Talbot Yellow on 2040-cars
Charlottesville, Virginia, United States
FOR SALE: 1976 Porsche 912E in Talbot Yellow on Brown/Orange Interior in EXCELLENT condition For sale is this wonderful 1976 Porsche 912E. It is a lovely car in Talbot Yellow (1 of only 10 Talbot Yellow 912's ever registered http://www.912registry.org/restore/rare912colors.htm ) over a brown/ orange interior. This car is very "period" and has only one option that I can see: air conditioning. No sunroof. No tinted windows. No Fuchs. No passnger side mirrior. Just a simple yellow 911 with a 4 cylinder motor... It's called a 912E, has a unique place in Porsche history and offers a very pure driving experience. Many of you know the history of the 912E. It was made in the model year 1976 only and was an interim offering to bridge between the outgoing 914 and the 924 which was not finished and ready for production. Only 2092 examples of the 912E were made and this is number 2033 (so late in the run). Porsche needed an "entry level" and fuel efficient model in addition to the 911 and so the 912E was born. http://www.porsche912e.com/docs/about.html Unlike the 912 of the late 1960's which used the 356 motor and had a different rear subframe to the 911 of that time, the 912E has a 1976 911 chasis and rear subframe which is modified to house the 914 4-cylinder motor. As such, dropping a 6-cylinder in the 912E is not too challenging. However, the extra power of a flat six may take away from the charm and unique nature of the 912E. Here is an example of how intoxicating they are: http://www.aircooledtechnology.com/index.php/porsche-912e And they hold their own on the track with a 4-cylinder!! It is a full Porsche 911 chasis after all https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCY3hv_qbGo This car has been fully inspected, sorted, restored and repaired. It is fully functioning in all major areas and is a joy to drive. All of the things this car offers, has and does not have will be outlined here so you will have a complete picture of the car. I bought this 912E from the son of the owner for the last 20+ years who was no longer able to drive the car. It was used to commute around Washington DC for the last two decades and was garage kept - and well loved! I did a full cosmetic and mechanical overhaul to flush out and address hidden probelms and bring the car back to its' full glory. Mechanicals: 4 cylinder motor in excellent mechanical condition. Starts impeccably with no smoke and revs freely. Responsive and smooth. 5 speed manual gear box. Enagages properly with smooth action. Clutch has excellent grab and no slippage at all. Tires in excellent condition with 85+% tread Rotors and pads 75+% life remaining. Excellent braking! Upgraded Bosch H4 headlamps - very good light at night! Factory air conditioning option installed. The compressor is not installed but is present (as are all lines) and air flow systems work very well. In fact, the factory a/c fan system installed along the lower aspect of the dash blows air VERY well through out the cabin and is awesome!!! Heater fan works well and head unit was just renovated. All wiring under dash renovated or replaced. I uncovered a significant safety issue and had it sorted out PROPERLY. All electronics function. All windows roll up and down correctly. All door handles and latches operate properly. Cosmetics: This is a TOTALLY RUST FREE CAR. All of the critical areas are completely free of any rust. The car has been garage kept and it shows. Talbot Yellow exterior. Previously repainted to a high quality using factory paint and in excellent condition. Very few stone chips. GREAT appearance. Brown/ orange interior. Previously refurbished interior to a high quality. My only complaint is that the material around the dashboard above the gauges is not fully adhesed any longer and has some saggy creases. Repairing this requires removal of the dashboard and windshield - too risky for such a small return. Bummer really but the creases are not too noticeable. Steel wheels powder coated black with original hub caps with authentic Porsche sheilds. GREAT condition. Authentic (and period) "Coco Mats" in excellent condition. Sweet Porsche shift knob. All seals and rubber in excellent condition! Binder of papers from the last 10-20 years. Tool kit, jack, etc. This car has wonderful road presence and gets thumbs up and comments every where it goes! Here is the photobucket with far too many pcitures: http://s1294.photobucket.com/user/993-for-life/library/1976%20Porsche%20912E#/user/993-for-life/library/1976%20Porsche%20912E?sort=3&page=1&_suid=140384145321805628721095565511 Also, here is a video I made of the car so you can see how it moves on the road: http://youtu.be/a00mHA1WxnU If you have any questions please let me know via email or call me at 434-825-8899. I have started the bidding at $0.01 and set a reserve price. If you are interested in this car and want to discuss a "buy-it-now" price please call me to discuss. Thank- you and happy bidding! Jim

Porsche Cayman GT4 speeds back into view
Tue, 18 Nov 2014We're all familiar with the succession of numbers that follow the letters GT on a hard-core Porsche 911: the GT1 that was Stuttgart's Le Mans contender in the late 90s, the GT2 that packs turbochargers but without the Turbo's all-wheel drive and excess weight, and the naturally aspirated GT3 that's the enthusiast's choice. But a GT4? That's something new, and exactly what Porsche has in store.
Spied testing in Germany once again is the upcoming GT4 version of the Porsche Cayman, set to supersede the existing GTS and take the place of the previous Cayman R at the top of Porsche's junior sports car range. This latest batch of spy shots doesn't show us much more than the last crop, but gives us a much clearer view at what promises to be the most hardcore Cayman to date.
As you can see, the Cayman GT4 packs a much more aggressive aero kit and rolling stock than any version we've seen to date. It's got a lip spoiler, big air dam and GT3-style vent in front of the hood, deep air scoops along the flanks, a set of spindly alloys packing oversized brakes, a diffuser with twin central exhaust tips around back and a rear wing that's likely to be replaced with a sleeker unit before the GT4 reaches production.
Porsche again staring down another $1.8B in hedge fund lawsuits
Wed, 15 May 2013The sequence of events from 2007 that began with Porsche's secret attempt to take over Volkswagen, and instead lead to Porsche being taken over by VW, continues to instigate lawsuits against the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer. A group of hedge funds that suffered over $1 billion in losses sued the car company in New York. Porsche had publicly stated it wasn't trying to buy VW, the hedge funds in question were shorting VW stock, and when Porsche's actual intentions were revealed, the stock shot up and the hedge funds took a beating.
The case was thrown out over the issue of jurisdiction, then appealed, only to see another suit filed on top of that. After that, most of the hedge funds withdrew their claims in New York and Porsche offered a 90-day window to refile in Germany where it is already fighting a number of other suits over the same issue. The hedge funds accepted the offer, refiling in Stuttgart for $1.8 billion in damages. According to Bloomberg, Porsche hasn't commented on the refiling, but as the same plaintiffs are involved, it's safe to assume that the carmaker still feels the case is "unsubstantiated and without merit." It has fared alright so far even in German courts, with two lesser cases against it thrown out last year.
Editors' Picks March 2021 | Ford Mustang Mach-E, Polestar 2, Land Rover Defender and more
Thu, Apr 8 2021The month of March was unofficial minivan month here at Autoblog. We drove all of them but the Kia Carnival, but don’t worry, you wonÂ’t have to wait much longer to read that review. Among all the family-toting machines, we drove some more exciting vehicles including the Land Rover Defender and a pair of up-and-coming EVs. It was a month of excellent cars, meaning that this monthÂ’s litter of EditorsÂ’ Picks is stacked. In case you missed FebruaryÂ’s picks, hereÂ’s a quick refresher on whatÂ’s going on here. We rate all the new cars we drive with a 1-10 score. Cars that are exemplary or stand out in their respective segments get EditorsÂ’ Pick status. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. The list that youÂ’ll find below consists of every car we rated in March that earned the honor of being an EditorsÂ’ Pick. 2021 Ford Bronco Sport 2021 Ford Bronco Sport First Edition View 32 Photos Quick take: Ford's baby Bronco is an authentic foil to the big Bronco 2-Door and 4-Door. It brings rugged styling, better-than-average off-road capability and thoughtful utility features to a generic segment of cars. Score: 8 What it competes with: Jeep Compass, Jeep Cherokee, Mazda CX-30, Subaru Crosstrek, Kia Seltos, Chevrolet Trailblazer Pros: Stellar design, excellent off-road, clever interior details throughout Cons: Pricier than most, average transmission, underwhelming interior quality and ambiance in lowest trims From the editors: Road Test Editor Zac Palmer — “I genuinely enjoy driving this cute crossover. It feels like a mini truck on the road, and Ford admirably translated the design from its big Bronco over to this Escape-based crossover. News Editor Joel Stocksdale — "The Bronco Sport isn't perfect, the transmission could use some work, and it's a little bumpy, but it's a characterful little thing with loads of style, great visibility and space, and impressive capabilities on and off road in the powerful Badlands form." In-depth analysis: 2021 Ford Bronco Sport Review | Bronco for the masses  2021 Land Rover Defender 2021 Land Rover Defender 110 View 64 Photos Quick take: The Land Rover Defender provides everything you'd hope for in a modern Land Rover: superlative off-road capability, surprisingly plush on-road demeanor, abundant interior space and abundant character. The base four-cylinder is likely all you'll need and lower trim levels provide more than enough equipment.
