1969 Porsche 912 Targa

Very rare 1969 912 Targa, only 800 produced.  Rising in value over time.  Sure to begin to explode in value since the 50th birthday of the 911.  See this Hagerty link for best information (including average values for the 912s):  http://www.hagerty.com/valuationtools/HVT/VehicleSearch/Report?vc=1329223

Meticulously maintained since new.  All documentation since new, including owner’s manual, maintenance manual, dealer brochure, and a 2-inch stack of service/parts receipts. Documented Arizona and California car.  Same owner for approximately 35 years (a Boeing aircraft engineer).

Excellent paint (tangerine/”blood orange”…only the best color ever offered on a 912!).  Interior in excellent condition, much of it new (existing seats are Porsche circa early 70’s, original Recaros included in sale, see below).  Very solid undercarriage (rust proofed, sealed in California just before I purchased it).  Engine compartment detailed and clean.  Starts, runs, and shifts (5-speed) wonderfully.  Handles like a Porsche.  Targa top in excellent condition (a $4000 expense to buy a reconditioned top!).  All new rubber (seals) and near-new tires.  Excellent body/panel gaps, doors close with the trademark Porsche ping.  No rust.  Glass in very good condition (exception to note is some fine scratching in passenger window which I can’t get to show in pictures).  Recently serviced by local/regional Porsche expert (who had been servicing, racing, showing classic Porsches for decades).

Extra parts include: Original 1969 911/912 Recaro seats with new seat foam (you’d need to purchase new covers).  Rear window parcel shelf with built-in speaker housing.  Various 912 books and magazines including a 912 handbook and service manual.  Other misc. parts (door arm rest, horn covers, etc.).

See pictures for details.  Truly a rare 912 that turns heads and provokes waves and thumb-ups wherever you go (from Porsche and non-Porsche owners alike)!  There are too many details to list so please ask any/all questions and I will do my best to respond in a timely manner.  Likewise, if you need more/different pictures, I’d be glad to provide those too (I have many more than the 12 eBay allows).

Serious buyers only please.  A $1000 deposit by PayPal required within 24 hours of auction end.  I apologize for having to do this but if you’re a serious buyer, this won’t be a problem for you.  Remaining balance due within 5 days of auction end by bank wire/transfer.  In-person inspections welcomed by you or hired third-party.  I can assist you in arranging transportation/shipping.  I have bought and sold several cars and motorcycles over the years and am very familiar with the process.

No warranty express or implied.

My reserve is reasonable for this beautiful 912 but please don’t ask me what it is.  If you are serious about the 912s (and/or 911s), you probably know where the market is.  And while I don’t have a buy-it-now price, feel free to shoot me an offer.  Anything reasonable will be seriously considered!  For all you folks in the Midwest or east coast, here’s your opportunity to own your dream car without having to pay to have it shipped all the way from California (where 99% of these seem to reside).

The 912 is listed locally as well as, on other sites so I reserve the right to cancel the auction early.

Thanks for looking and good luck!

Porsche 911 GT3 RS looks wicked, this way comes

Thu, Dec 11 2014

Those who didn't think Porsche went extreme enough with the latest 911 GT3 likely won't be disappointed when the more focused GT3 RS arrives. And as you can see from these latest spy shots, it looks like it's speeding right around the corner. Tipped to debut at the Geneva Motor Show this coming March, the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS is shaping up to be an enthusiast's dream - and with the prospect of a GT2 in doubt, could be the most hardcore Elfen in the range. Instead of the 3.8-liter flat-six in the current GT3, the new RS will pick up where the previous limited-edition GT3 RS 4.0 left off, with four naturally aspirated liters of unadulterated boxer power channeling a good 520 horses to the rear wheels. That will be a significant increase over the existing 475-hp GT3 and will match the 911 Turbo for output (if not the 560-hp Turbo S) and without any turbo lag to slow down the action, either. Whether it will keep the GT3's dual-clutch gearbox and four-wheel steering system, or ditch one or both for a more analog approach, remains to be seen, but we're holding out hope. Either way, the modifications to the bodywork ought to make the GT3 RS stand out even further and stay glued to the race track it will call home. Notice the deep front splitter scooping up snowflakes like a shovel, a massive rear wing (which may or may not be the final production version), the Turbo-spec rear end with air intakes ahead of the rear wheels, and a set of awesome-looking gills over the front wheels – all of which you can scope out in the gallery full of spy shots above.

Porsche Cayman GT4 storms Switzerland with 385 hp [w/video]

Tue, Mar 3 2015

Much as we love the Porsche 911 in all its variants, there's definitely a case to be made for the smaller Cayman as the best-driving sports car in the company's lineup. We adore it in all forms, and most recently fell madly in love with the new Cayman GTS. But here at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, Porsche has unveiled a truly special, range-topping variant of its mid-engine coupe: the GT4. And after seeing it in person, we're pretty much head-over-heels in love. That's because the GT4 is the most hardcore variant of the Cayman yet, using a 385-horsepower version of Porsche's 3.8-liter flat-six, derived from the 911 Carrera S. It sends power to the rear wheels solely via a six-speed manual transmission with dynamic gearbox mounts, and we're told the hot new coupe will sprint to 60 miles per hour in just 4.2 seconds – a full half-second quicker than the 340-hp Cayman GTS. Building upon that, the GT4 uses a host of chassis components from the potent 911 GT3, and offers further upgrades like ceramic brakes and carbon fiber bucket seats. This should make for one seriously track-worthy machine, and Porsche already says that the GT4 will run the Nurburgring in a scant 7:20 – the same time as the 2011 911 GT3. It's all very awesome, this GT4. To say we're stoked would be a gross understatement. Look for it to hit Porsche dealers in July, starting at $84,600. This content is hosted by a third party. A New Member of Porsche's GT Family The benchmark in its class: the Porsche Cayman GT4 Atlanta, Feb. 3, 2015 - Porsche's GT family is proud to announce the addition of an exciting new member: the Cayman GT4. This is the first Porsche GT sports car based on the Cayman and features components of the 911 GT3. Clocking a lap time of 7 minutes and 40 seconds on the North Loop of the Nurburgring, the Cayman GT4 earns the same lap time as the 2011 911 GT3 and positions itself as the new benchmark atop its market segment. The Cayman GT4 clearly demonstrates Porsche's dedication and passion to continue to promote truly industry-leading two-door sports cars in the future – sports cars that are developed at the Motorsport department in Weissach. The engine, chassis, brakes, and aerodynamic design of the Cayman GT4 are configured for maximum driving dynamics while retaining the versatility and everyday utility that are typical of the two-seater Porsche coupe.

Porsche celebrates 5M Facebook fans with crowdsourced one-off 911

Mon, 05 Aug 2013

Porsche's Facebook fan base appears to be accelerating as quickly as the cars it builds. The German automaker has just unveiled a special 911 Carrera 4S designed with crowdsourced input as a way to thank its five million Facebook fans.
The 911 features special Aquablaumetallic paint from Porsche Exclusive, contrasting 20-inch white Carrera S wheels and pinstriping, along with an aero package including a fixed rear wing. Inside, there are unique backlit sill plates and the obligatory dashboard engraving that says "Personally Built by 5 Million Porsche Fans."
As a way to turn at least one virtual thumbs up into its more meaningful physical-world equivalent, Porsche is holding a contest to win the chance to drive the car at Britain's Silverstone racetrack - and bring a friend - and nine lucky runners-up will win 1:43-scale models of the 911. If you want to enter the contest, click here.
