North Ridgeville, Ohio, United States
Porsche 1969 Targa will require restoration. The pictures do not show the interior nor the targa top, but they are all included with the car. I will provide a comment on major components to help your decision. Exterior: Repainted in original color, includes filler, some bubbles but no dents are present. Interior: Original black vinyl. Seats and door panels are in decent condition with no rips, burns or tears. Door pockets will require repair or replacement. All carpets are included but likely not original nor worth using. Instruments: 5 gauges, combo gauge shows some rust but I have a replacement. Targa Top: Complete but front edge of vinyl is debonded. Assume restoration required. Wheels: Pictures show original magnesium. These will NOT be included in sale, there will be 4 shop wheels. Engine: Matching number not present. I bought without engine but can provide a case, carburetors, air filters, shroud, cam and -3 crank with bearings. Underside: Rusty. I have a set of frame members from behind the doors and past the torsion bars for replacement. (see pictures) Front underbody needs metal replacement. Floors require patching or replacement. Doors: Not too bad, but will need some repair. Sills and posts are shown in pictures. Hood and Engine Lid: No bends or distortion Transmission: 5 speed. My seller advised it was in good order, I cannot substantiate. All Else: I will not overstate condition or understate what is needed. If I have not covered it assume you need to fix it. Why you must buy an air-cooled Porsche 911 now
Fri, 14 Feb 2014"Because" might be a good response to our headline, but as a vintage (purists might call 'proper') Porsche 911 is hardly cheap, we suspect you'll need a better explanation than that. Enter Drive editor Mike Spinelli.
Spinelli sits down with Zac Moseley and Mick Prichinello from Classic Car Club Manhattan to first explain why the market for old, air-cooled 911s has gotten so hot over the past few years, and to discuss if it's a bubble that's about to burst. Following that, this video is really is just three guys sitting around talking about old Porsches for 35 minutes. Which, you know, we're pretty onboard with.
Scroll down and have a look at the latest episode of After/Drive, from Drive.
Petrolicious explores long-term living with Porsche's 914/6
Thu, 15 May 2014After its last video starred none other than the spectacular Ferrari 250 GTO, where was there for the video team at Petrolicious to go? Certainly, in the realm of classics, there are only a few other vehicles that can match the badge and pedigree of the ultra-rare Ferrari. Maybe a Jaguar D-Type or an Aston Martin DBR1? No, this latest video doesn't star either of those British icons. It stars an oft-misunderstood, occasionally derided entry from Germany's most sporting manufacturer - Porsche.
Yes, we've gone from a Ferrari 250 GTO to a Porsche 914/6. As is often the case with Petrolicious, though, the story told about the car by its owner are often more important than the make or model of car being highlighted. That's exactly the case here, as Jack Griffin talks about the 38 years he's spent with this particular Porsche.
Having been born into the Volkswagen fold and introduced to Porsche in the best way possible - behind the wheel of a 356 - Griffin has some interesting stories (including his attempt at running the 12 Hours of Sebring), and he knows a fair bit about some of the 914's attributes.
Are you the Porsche Pajun?
Mon, 17 Nov 2014The prospect of Porsche building a smaller version of the Panamera has been an on-again, off-again proposition as the German automaker seems to go back and forth on the project. Last we heard, Porsche had pushed back the so-called Pajun (shorthand for Panamera Junior) until 2019 at the earliest, but we could be looking at it right here.
The automaker's everything-but-automotive division Porsche Design is working on a luxury condo complex called (simply enough) Porsche Design Tower. It's been three years in the making and will take at least another year or two to complete, but the gist of it is that the 57-floor building will include 132 apartments, each with its own en-suite garage in which the residents' cars will be parked thanks to giant elevators.
Porsche Design released a series of renderings showing what the property will look like once complete. Most of the renderings feature Porsches, of course - production models you can find in any of the brand's showrooms, like the one just 23 miles away in Coral Gables. But one of the renderings of the giant glass elevators shows something rather unusual.
