I bought this 912 in 2007 outside of Baltimore. It was in storage for 27 years. I have tried to keep the car as original as possible. It was originally Polo Red but the owner painted it Gray trying to match Steve McQueens 911s in LeMans. The paint presents itself very well and is very shiny. There is only a few areas that you can tell it was painted. The only mars on the paint is a 1.5 " x 1/4" paint chip by the from passenger fender, which shows in one of the pictures. At one time there was a dealer installed AC system that can only be detected by a hole in the smugglers box.

The body is rust free -  even has the original horsehair insulating matts through out the floors! You don't see that very often on an early long hood . No rust in the pan or rockers. The interior is excellant original condition with no tears or abuse just normal wear for a 60k mile vehicle.

This what I have done in the ~ 3000 miles I have owned this 912

4 New Kuhmo tires on Fuch 6 x 15 Deep 6's. also, a spare deep Fuch 6.
Hella H 4's
4 new Boge shocks- as original
RSR0012 Distributor rotor
Petronics ignition

Top end engine overhaul done by Andy Bittenbinder (Dr. A)
Machine work done at Ollie's including machine of the flywheel.
New Clutch, pressure plate, Throwout bearing.  Non original engine block.
Most recently, new refurbished Solex carbs from 356 Rescue. They still needed to get dialed in.

I have 3 other Porsches and this one just sits.

No warrantee implied.
As is where is. I will help with shipping.

$500.00 Paypal or wire transfer in 48 hours of end of auction.

This is my first ebay ad and I have tried to represent the car as best as possible.

Aston Martin renames Vantage GT3 after Porsche throws hissy fit

Mon, Mar 23 2015

Porsche has a long history of using the name "GT3" for its hardcore, naturally aspirated 911 models, and that means it's certainly not going to share it with the likes of Aston Martin. See, it seems the arrival of the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show didn't sit well with Stuttgart, which opted to lawyer up. According to Goodwood Road and Racing, attorneys from both sides of the Channel have been in discussion for months over the issue, with Porsche arguing it's been using the GT3 name since 1999, and that makes it theirs. Aston, though, argues that the FIA GT3 racing series makes the name fair game for road cars. Moreover, the Brits point out that the alphanumeric was in use well before Porsche got its mitts on it – GRR rightly points out the Lotus Esprit GT3 hit the streets three years before the 996 GT3. And while we're on the subject, Bentley has its own GT3, but we're guessing its status as one of Porsche's siblings means its immune to this kind of squabbling. Rather than getting into a knock-down, drag-out courtroom brawl with one of the Volkswagen Group's prized brands, though, Aston has taken the high road. The company will rechristen both the road-going Vantage GT3 and Vantage racer as the GT12. While Porsche is no stranger to aggressively protecting what it views as its closely held vehicle names, we have to admit, it seems like Aston actually has something of a case. Do you think the Brits were right to settle and change the Vantage's name, or should they have taken the fight to Porsche? Have your say in Comments.

Consumer Reports says infotainment systems 'growing first-year reliability plague'

Mon, 27 Oct 2014

The Consumer Reports Annual Auto Reliability Survey (right) is out, and the top two spots look much the same as last year's list with Lexus and Toyota in first and second place, respectively. However, there are some major shakeups for 2014, with Acura plunging eight spots from third in 2013 to 11th this year, and Mazda replaces it on the lowest step of the podium. Honda and Audi round out the top five. This year's list includes six Japanese brands in the top 10, two Europeans, one America and one Korean.
Acura isn't the only one taking a tumble, though. Infiniti is the biggest loser this year by dropping 14 spots to 20th place. Other big losses come from Mercedes-Benz with an 11-place fall to 24th, and GMC, which declines 10 positions to 19th.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, it's not traditional mechanical bugs hauling down these automaker's reliability scores. Instead, pesky problems with infotainment systems are taking a series toll on the rankings. According to Consumer Reports, complaints about "in-car electronics" were the most grumbled about element in new cars. Problem areas included things like unresponsive touchscreens, issues pairing phones and multi-use controllers that refused to work right.

See what the Chevy C7 ZR1 may be benchmarked against

Tue, 07 May 2013

One of the greatest things every Corvette has had going for it, and also one of the most re-used arguments against it, is its price-to-performance equation - long before the Nissan GT-R became the de facto Porsche 911 comparator the Corvette spent decades as Exhibit A. Depending on which side of the argument you stressed, supporters crowed about how much performance you got for how (comparatively) little, detractors carped on how little you got everywhere else in the bargain.
It appears Chevrolet is working as hard as ever to render the argument meaningless. Spy shooters at KGP captured a convocation of European birds of prey leaving the General Motors test center, and aimed at benchmarking the C7 Corvette ZR1. The road train comprised of two C7 Corvette Stingrays, a 2013 Corvette ZR1, McLaren MP4-12C, Ferrari 458 Italia, Audi R8 V10 Spyder and Porsche 911 Carrera S and it was last seen heading down the same kinked-up back roads used to hone the Corvette Stingray.
The C7-series ZR1 and its possible 700 horsepower are still a ways off. If it really is being positioned to compete with the celestial exotica in the testing group, could it be the first Corvette to regularly be the first answer to the question "Cost no object, which would would you rather have?"
