1968 Porsche 912 2 Door Coupe 1.6l on 2040-cars
Zionsville, Indiana, United States
1968 Porsche 912 Original California car. Only in mid-west for 2 years-garaged. Originally purchased new in CaIifornia (always garaged). I have done the following repairs: Installed new headliner, replaced driver seat, installed new interior carpet, new front, quarter and rear glass seals, installed modern Pioneer radio with remote and had what I consider to be minor engine repairs. It has been driven as a daily driver to work in spring & summer. The car's biggest feature is the condition of the chassis, it truly has NO rust. There have been no oil leaks, engine runs strong. Newer tires, original Fuchs rims. Comes with all the original purchase documentation from original owner as well as original tool kit, owners manual and fully documented repair history. All gauges & instruments work except for the clock. There is a repaired crack in dashboard at the crease (typical for these cars). I would consider the paint to be in above average condition. Sand beige is the numbers matching original color. I believe it may have had one re-spray earlier in its history. I took two pictures of small scratches: one on the top of the car and one on the edge of the door by the handle. I have proudly shown car in area Porsche events. It truly has been a fun car to drive. It is being sold to make room for a new project car. International buyers welcome! ** I strongly encourage you to contact Bob Farmer, an expert Porsche mechanic. He performed all the tune up work / minor engine repairs. Bob will personally vouch for the condition of the car as described. Bob has 38+ years of experience, he is very straight-forward & honest in his assessments. Bob's telephone number is 317-894-8185. |

Chris Harris gets filthy in a WRC-ready Porsche 911 RGT
Thu, Jan 15 2015Last time we rode with Chris Harris we were shotgun in the tan leather seat of his used-yet-immaculate Ferrari FF. This time we're strapped into a black racing bucket of a filthy Porsche 911 rally car, one that led Harris to effuse, "I don't think I've driven a more exciting car this year, hypercars included." The thrills come courtesy of a 997-series Cup Car that's been reworked by Tuthill Porsche to run in the RGT-class rally series that will piggyback on five World Rally Championship and European Rally Championship races this year. It's not quite the Rothmans Dakar monster, but the RGT series gives privateers an affordable way into rallying with cars that look different and are different from one another. This one kept its 3.8-liter, 444-horsepower 997 Cup engine, but the 39-milllimeter restrictor drops that to about 350 hp. Beyond that are a new rollcage, gear ratios, suspension, fuel tank, underfloor protection and just about everything else. Said the man who built it, it cost "a lot, and it's still costing." But Harris says even though you "have to have your wits about you," it's a hoot to drive. And this is one of the few times you'll hear the phrase "What a tool!" used as a compliment. Check it out in the video above. News Source: Chris Harris on Cars via YouTube Motorsports Porsche Coupe Off-Road Vehicles Racing Vehicles Performance Videos fia rally WRC chris harris porsche 997
Porsche tells 2014 911 GT3 owners to park their cars pending inspection
Thu, 20 Feb 2014Porsche may have have a serious problem on its hands. After a rumored five 2014 911 GT3 coupes caught fire in recent weeks, Porsche launched an investigation and stopped delivering its road-ready racecar until it could diagnose the problem. Now, it has issued a press release asking all 2014 911 GT3 owners to immediately stop driving their cars until they can be inspected. Porsche is offering to pick up the cars from owners' homes and take them to the nearest dealer.
Porsche confirms that the at least two 911 GT3 coupes them have caught fire in Europe, and it has elected to inspect all 785 2014 GT3s worldwide. However, it claims no drivers have been injured in the fires. Unfortunately, Porsche says, "Internal studies to determine the cause of the engine damage have not been completed yet," so owners might have a bit of a wait before they are able to drive Porsche's ultimate 911 again. Scroll down to read the entire press release.
Porsche 911 with VW turbodiesel prepares for LeMons assault
Fri, 21 Mar 2014LeMons racing is a wonderful example that setting limits can actually breed creativity. The series mandates that all entries must cost $500, not counting safety equipment, and that cap forces teams to be ingenious in how they build a racecar. Take for example this diesel-powered Porsche 911, which its creators have dubbed Ferkel the Nein-11, that will be racing in the Sears Pointless race this weekend in Sonoma, California.
This Frankenstein combines a 911 chassis that was originally bought just for its European powertrain and a Volkswagen TDI diesel engine mounted in the rear. After deciding the shell could still be of some use, the team decided to go racing. "We began brainstorming what replacement drivetrain to use for maximum offense and there was really only one answer: a diesel," said Philipp von Weitershausen, one of the team captains, to Jalopnik. They bought a 1998 Jetta TDI on the cheap and started figuring out a way to hack the engine into the bay. To pay respect to the donor, the VW's trunk was highly modified (and drilled) and grafted onto the back of Ferkel.
This team isn't a newcomer to LeMons. Its last car was a classic VW Beetle with a Subaru engine and dual controls, named Ferdinand the Bug, which could be driven from the left or right side. It's quite a sight.
