1965 Porsche 912 Very Rare and Desirable 3 Gauge Painted Dash 912!

This 912 was undergoing restoration when the previous owner passed away. It needs very little sorting/finishing to be a strong driver. I have personally driven this 912 for a couple hundred miles since late January. I first showed the 912 at the Rolex 24 Hour in Daytona Beach. Even though I didn't have a Porsche Club reserved parking pass, the PCA Club waived me into their reserved parking area and made room for the 912 among other notable classics. I was absolutely flattered by the attention the 912 received and the amount of questions I had about the 912. This is definitely a 912 that gets a lot of attention and respect!

This car is the bridge between the 356 and 911 with the 356 engine and painted dash styling and 911 Chassis. Values continue to rise across the 912 spectrum; however, very few painted dash cars were built (likely less than 1,500 total) and remain today.

Resprayed in the Desirable Original Ruby Red Color. The windows and rubbers were removed during the respray. I would rate the paint quality as sufficient for a driver or local show. It polishes up very nicely but is not concours level.

The 912 was recently serviced by Kennedy Porsche in Daytona. The Original Solex Carbs (included in sale) need rebuilding so they were replaced with new Webers. At the same time, a new distributor was installed. The 912 runs very strong at this point. Engine starts right up, Transmission Shifts Smoothly, Drives Straight and Brakes firmly and straight! Please watch the video. I apologize for the quality. My GoPro is having issues so I had to use my iPhone. (you will note in the video I added the exhaust tail pipe since the pics were taken.)

This California 912 appears to have its Original Floor Pan! The Pan is solid and free of any significant rust issues.  The only issues I noticed was there may be some filler in the rocker panels and there's a small patch on the front pan. However, all things considered, this is about as solid a driver level 912 as you could hope to find.

All Original Dated Coded Rims, plus Spare Tire and Jack are Present!

Headlight and Taillights work!

The Original Radio is Present although Disconnected.

Glass is all in great condition and the chrome and stainless trim present well!

The Interior is in nice condition and needs very little finishing. The dash mat was replaced but needs securing. The rear seats are serviceable and appear original. The front seats appear to have been recovered and are in nice condition. The seat back adjustment mechanisms will need attention as they don't always lock the seat back in place. Also, there are no seat belts included.

All things considered this is an excellent driver level 912 that not only is very original but can be enjoyed from day 1 and improved as time permits. With the increasing value of 912s, this is a great investment and the best of the 912s as it is a very early 3 Gauge, Painted Dash car!

**I reserve the right to end auction early. 912 is advertised elsewhere.**

Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer

An Iconic Sports Car, Restored to Seduce
I have been strapped behind the iconic Momo Prototipo steering wheel for a little more than an hour, all windows down as I carve my way up a rugged canyon during an unusually warm Southern California evening, and I am overwhelmed with emotion. My heart is pounding out of my chest, my breathing is heavy and my palms are sweaty because I am completely absorbed by this wondrous machine.
After waiting patiently for nearly four years, I am finally behind the wheel of a classic Porsche 911 restored, modified and tuned by Singer Vehicle Design. The vehicle that surrounds me never rolled off an automaker's assembly line in its current configuration, yet its physical appearance is timeless, build quality breathtaking and driving dynamics peerless.

Porsche again staring down another $1.8B in hedge fund lawsuits

Wed, 15 May 2013

The sequence of events from 2007 that began with Porsche's secret attempt to take over Volkswagen, and instead lead to Porsche being taken over by VW, continues to instigate lawsuits against the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer. A group of hedge funds that suffered over $1 billion in losses sued the car company in New York. Porsche had publicly stated it wasn't trying to buy VW, the hedge funds in question were shorting VW stock, and when Porsche's actual intentions were revealed, the stock shot up and the hedge funds took a beating.
The case was thrown out over the issue of jurisdiction, then appealed, only to see another suit filed on top of that. After that, most of the hedge funds withdrew their claims in New York and Porsche offered a 90-day window to refile in Germany where it is already fighting a number of other suits over the same issue. The hedge funds accepted the offer, refiling in Stuttgart for $1.8 billion in damages. According to Bloomberg, Porsche hasn't commented on the refiling, but as the same plaintiffs are involved, it's safe to assume that the carmaker still feels the case is "unsubstantiated and without merit." It has fared alright so far even in German courts, with two lesser cases against it thrown out last year.

Weekly Recap: Ferrari, Ford and Porsche power up for Geneva

Sat, Feb 7 2015

Monday was Groundhog Day. Tuesday, apparently, was Sports Car Day. The Ferrari 488 GTB, the Ford Focus RS and the Porsche Cayman GT4 all debuted within hours of each other ahead of their rollouts at the Geneva Motor Show. Three sporty machines, three vastly different approaches – and a lot of implications for enthusiasts. That's a day worth repeating. It also illustrates the opportunities automakers see in the performance market, which is expected to grow in the coming years. Ford estimates the segment has expanded 14 percent in Europe and surged 70 percent in North America since 2009. The Detroit Auto Show was evidence of this, and performance cars of every stripe debuted, including the Acura NSX, Ford GT, Alfa Romeo 4C Spider and several others. This isn't a fad. Performance cars aren't going away. The question is why? Stricter CAFE standards are looming in the United States, as are tighter emissions regulations in Europe. And no one expects gas prices to remain low in America. None of this matters for sports cars, and automakers are increasingly using them to elevate their images. That's why Dodge rolled out two 707-horsepower Hellcats last year. It's why Ford has decided to resurrect the GT for road and track. It's why in the depths of bankruptcy, General Motors continued work on the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, not to mention the Z06. "Great brands are made one car at a time," Ford of Europe president Jim Farley said at the reveal of the Focus RS. Still, companies make those cars for different reasons. View 5 Photos Mainstream brands like Ford and Dodge want to build cars that get people talking, excite their bases and drive more potential customers into the showroom. They probably don't buy a Focus RS or a Hellcat, but suddenly the regular Focus hatch looks a bit hotter, and that V6 Charger seems to be just a touch more muscular. The halo of performance is alive and well in the eyes of automakers and their customers. "It's one of the most effective catalysts for ingenuity and innovation," said Joe Bakaj, vice president of product development for Ford of Europe. That also leads to a trickle-down effect. Some of the technologies inevitably make their way to other products. It's hard to think the new all-wheel-drive system in the Focus RS that distributes torque front to rear and side to side won't be used in other vehicles. It's different for Ferrari and Porsche.
