1997 Porsche 993 Turbo Look Cabriolet- Conversion on 1981 Targa Chassis
Up for sale is my beloved project car. Job situation is changing and I need to sell. It has always been my dream to own the car Porsche never officially made, the 993 Turbo Cabriolet. A true turbo entry fee is $50,000++ so to fulfill my fantasy, I bought the next best thing, a conversion. According to the appraiser who looked at this car, it may have been done by Precision in CA., but he never could confirm it.
Here are the details: All Steel fenders and flares 993 Interior 993 turbo-look spoiler 2002 Turbo Wheels with Hankook V12's- see pics 1987 3.2 Carrera engine with 915 5-speed trans Approx. 117K miles Chassis mileage unknown- Odometer reads 70k New Convertible top New Battery New front wheel bearings Sale includes Convertible Boot (blue) and convertible cables that came with the car when I bought it Aftermarket exhaust- car sounds great
The car is conversion on an '81 chassis and was 95% complete when I bought it. I have restored a few things and its a good driver. The car still needs a few things done to be a daily driver. I want to note here that if you are wanting to buy a "perfect" Porsche 993 that you can park in the garage, wax on the weekends, and are afraid to drive because a bug might scratch it, this is not your car. Go back to the bank, because you will need to pay 3 times my reserve and should keep looking. With that said, if you want a car that gets tons of attention, looks good, and will require some time and a little money to be really solid, then read on.
If I was keeping the car, here is my "short list" of what it needs: Rear Wheel bearings need replaced- over time, spacers cause them to wear out and they get noisy Syncro in 2nd gear is worn Odometer does not work Headliner needs installed- existing headliner comes with sale Convertible top cables need replaced- a pair comes with this sale, but I cannot verify the working condition of them Bumper seals need replaced Windshield needs replaced- small crack across drivers side Cracked dash Stereo needs hooked up Needs A/C compressor and heat boxes Climate control has small crack on it Alarm and power door locks needs hooked up- If I was keeping the car, eventually I would have it repainted. The paint is shiny, but there are chips, cracks and nicks. Door cards need attention
I have not had a compression test on the car. I have attempted to put as much info on here about the car as I can, but may have missed something, so if you have any questions please ask BEFORE bidding!!
Low reserve, so someone is going to get a good deal on a great car!!
Thanks and Happy Bidding!!!

Le Mans-winning Porsche 935 K3 'seized' by DEA agents
Thu, 16 Jan 2014Porsche has won Le Mans more than any other marque, but only one of those overall race winners was actually based on a 911. That was the 1979 Porsche 935 K3, chassis number 009 00015 that was entered by brothers Don and Bill Whittington. It went on to win at the Nürburgring and Watkins Glen, and scored podium finishes at Sebring and Brands Hatch as well. In short, it's a historically significant and hugely valuable piece of motorsport history. And it was just seized by the DEA. Sorta.
After the Whittington brothers ran afoul of a handful of lawsuits and were implicated in smuggling narcotics, the car changed hands a few times before ending up in the noted collection of one Bruce Meyers. He had it at Laguna Seca earlier this month when a black Suburban, Dodge Charger and transporter truck pulled up with government plates, asked to speak with Meyer, presented him with a court order, loaded the car onto the truck and drove off.
Though familiar with the legal disputes surrounding the ownership of the car and the misdeeds of its famous original owners, Meyer was left understandably distraught over the events that had just unfolded in front of him to separate him from his pride and joy. (Or one of them, anyway; Bruce has got an eminently desirable collection of classic cars.) But here's the kicker: those DEA agents weren't actual DEA agents. Fortunately they weren't thieves, either. The actual story could have been the plot right out of Ocean's 14 if they ever made one and it focused on classic cars. (Is anyone in Hollywood listening?)
The 11 best scenes from the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed
Tue, Jun 30 2015Over the last three days, the Goodwood Estate has played home to the eponymous Festival of Speed. Thrown by the biggest gearhead in the British aristocracy – Charles Gordon-Lennox, the Earl of March and Kinrara – the Festival of Speed is essentially a tremendous, gasoline-fuelled party, complete with a very large lawn sculpture, that features the world's hottest, weirdest, fastest, and loudest race, production, and historic models. While there are quite literally dozens and dozens of videos from the event – not to mention the full-day replays (of which only day one is available, at present) – we've sifted through them to pluck away the very best. There's stuff from the official Goodwood YouTube channel, as well as several videos from automakers and other third-party channels, and it's all available below. 2015 Ford Mustang GT350R Looks Barely Controllable If you thought the highest-performance Ford Mustang would somehow get more tractable or civilized once it moved to an independent rear suspension, this video shows you have nothing to worry about. Watch as an unnamed driver wrestles the new Shelby GT350R and its flat-plane, 5.2-liter V8 up the hillclimb circuit. Even with the new suspension and sticky tires, this Mustang wants to go any direction but straight, especially following its launch. 2016 Ford Focus RS, Is Very Loud, Blue Ken Block makes his first appearance on our list. Before he steps into his Hoonicorn Mustang, though, the Gymkhana expert tackled the hill in the all-new Focus RS. The vicious bellow of the 2.3-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder is the star of this commentary-free video, although the gorgeous Nitrous Blue paint job is a nice accompaniment, as well. 1965 Ford Mustang Hoonicorn Runs Hill, Nearly Kills Lord March Mr. Block's two runs behind the wheel of the Hoonicorn were, unsurprisingly, very eventful. While one attempt goes off without a hitch, seeing the American rally driver slip and slide his way to the top of the hill while taking a short break for a donut, the other is slightly more dramatic. Block, along with Lord March in the passenger seat, carries a bit too aggressive an angle into a turn and nearly puts the NASCAR-powered Mustang into the hay bales. Check out the first video above, and the second one below. Kimi Raikkonen Makes Us Miss F1's V8 Era The latest Formula One cars have been maligned for the lackluster noise produced by the new 1.6-liter, turbocharged V6.
Porsche Cayenne, Panamera production halted by flooding
Thu, 06 Jun 2013If you recently ordered a Porsche Cayenne or a Panamera, delivery may take a little longer than originally expected. Automotive News reports that production of both models has been temporarily halted at the Porsche assembly plant in Leipzig, Germany as the result of supply shortages caused by flooding in the nearby Czech Republic. The reason for the stoppage is that the body of the Cayenne - currently Porsche's best-selling model - is produced at a Volkswagen plant in the Czech city of Bratislava and shipped by train to Leipzig.
The report does not indicate why Panamera production has been stopped - that the five-door's body is made at a separate location in Hanover, Germany. However pre-assembly will continue on these models. At full capacity, the Leipzig plant can produce about 450 vehicles per day, and it isn't clear how long this weather-related stoppage will last.
