Porsche 911carrera Convertible 996 2002 81k Miles Great Condition Grey/red Rare! on 2040-cars
Weehawken, New Jersey, United States
Up for sale is my 996 2002 red interior grey exterior. Very rare combination that looks best in my opinion. Took me a while to find one. - Convertible top works perfectly. All fluids topped up. - 6 speed manual, you only want the 911 manual. Transmission is smooth. - Oil changes done at reputable NJ shops every 5k. Filters torn down every time to check for metal. - Daily driver, but always garaged. Therefore not subject to neglect issues - ims, rms etc. also, late 996 model with less issues - All lenses recently professionally cleaned, headlight bulbs changed. - All books and records from me and the last owner. I had the car inspected pre-purchase. Both keys - Paint is in good condition. Original. Minor road chipping in the front. Have to look close to see. 2 scratches caused by idiotic parking skills. All polished but haven't touched up. I tried to capture this in pictures. Original covers for bumpers are included. Have a couple of scratches. I never used them as I have a hitch plate. This is very rare and will be included with buy it now price. The plate itself is $400 if you can find one. It allows to use a class 1 hitch devices, I use a bike rack all the time. - Interior is in great shape for its age. Some scratches on the center console, dashboard has full leather option. Have the aux cable that will be included. Leather has been cleaned, the steering wheel has been replaced with an OEM one 10k ago. - Rear tires are new, fronts didn't need replacing. Wheels are in great condition - Original tools, spare tire, jack. - The car is available to show in weehawken NJ or Williamsburg NY. - Only selling as I'm moving and don't have a garage for the 911 anymore. Would love to keep it, the ultimate car. Anything from a twisty road on Sunday to hauling Home Depot supplies. Cheaper to insure than boxsters that I had before. 21 mpg combined, 25 highway. Mostly NJ highway. I have owned a number of Porsches over the years, this one is a great example. - Ask me questions. No dealers please, this car deserves a great new home. There is a lien on the title with my credit union, which is extremely easy to work with. The loan is in good standing and will be closed on purchase. |

Porsche 911 GT3 RS facing delay over GT3 fire problems?
Mon, 24 Mar 2014Porsche has never been afraid to introduce variants of its cars. However, its even higher spec, next-generation 911 GT3 RS may be delayed from its planned launch this summer while the engines in the standard GT3s (pictured above) are replaced.
A delay isn't certain, but executives want to make sure the high-strung mill is no longer a problem before they press forward with another model using it. Germany's Auto Motor und Sport asked Porsche CEO Matthias Müller about pushing back the launch, and he responded that it was too early to say. The company's current focus is making sure the engines get fixed and working on internal measures to prevent this kind of flaw in the future.
When fires claimed two 911 GT3s in Europe, Porsche initially stopped the model's sales and asked owners to stop driving them. It finally diagnosed the blazes as being caused by a loose screw on a connecting rod, which then resulted in crankcase damage and an oil leak. The company is replacing the engines on all 785 affected cars. A source told Autoblog that under 200 customers were actually affected, and the other cars were either at port or dealer lots. Hopefully, the recall doesn't postpone the road-going GT3 RS too far because we want to see what Porsche has up its sleeve.
All the crazy stuff we saw at McCall's Motorworks Revival
Thu, Aug 18 2016Every year, Gordon McCall puts on a lavish event packed with rare cars and planes (and the type of people that can afford rare cars and planes). And every year, more ridiculous stuff shows up. It's the good kind of machine overload. It's likely the only place in the world where you'll see a line of BMW 3.0s next to some Paganis next to a Porsche 911 by Singer Design next to a Ferrari salt racer next to a custom Olds Riviera next to the latest from Koenigsegg next to he coolest stuff Shelby ever made next to a hangar filled with McLarens, including a few P1 GTRs. And then all of that is surrounded by private jets, fighters, and planes that could have flown in directly from WWII. In a word, it's insane. Walk through the gallery above to get a taste for what was there this year for the event's 25th anniversary. Porsche 918 Spyder gets tiny recall for rear control arms
Tue, 09 Sep 2014As the recent US recall of a single Koenigsegg Agera shows, even low-production supercars aren't immune from safety campaigns. Now, there's another example that even the fastest cars can have their faults. The Porsche 918 Spyder is a pretty fantastic vehicle for its ability to mix hybrid fuel economy and incredible amounts of power, but Porsche has a problem on a few units of its halo model.
According to the recall document from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Porsche needs to inspect and possibly repair five 918s in the US because the rear axle control arms may break, which could cause a loss of control while driving. In the full defect notice, Porsche says that it first noticed the problem on June 26 when the parts failed during "heavy duty durability testing (extreme race conditions)" at the Nardo test track in Italy. It transported the components back to the company's lab for inspection, and on July 18 it issued a stop-sale to inspect the suspension parts on the supercar. The automaker also contacted owners by phone to warn them not to use the car on track, until repaired.
The affected 918s will be inspected, and if the cars have the bad parts, the control arms are will be replaced. Obviously, this will be done at no cost to owners. According to a Porsche spokesperson speaking to Autoblog, in addition to the five US cars potentially affected, there were 45 worldwide. All of the cars have now been checked.
