All the crazy stuff we saw at McCall's Motorworks Revival

Every year, Gordon McCall puts on a lavish event packed with rare cars and planes (and the type of people that can afford rare cars and planes). And every year, more ridiculous stuff shows up. It's the good kind of machine overload. It's likely the only place in the world where you'll see a line of BMW 3.0s next to some Paganis next to a Porsche 911 by Singer Design next to a Ferrari salt racer next to a custom Olds Riviera next to the latest from Koenigsegg next to he coolest stuff Shelby ever made next to a hangar filled with McLarens, including a few P1 GTRs. And then all of that is surrounded by private jets, fighters, and planes that could have flown in directly from WWII. In a word, it's insane. Porsche recalls new 911 models over exhaust pipe issues

Porsche, though the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, announced a voluntary recall on about 2,200 911 Carrera and Carrera 4 models built during the 2012 and 2013 model years. On cars equipped with the standard exhaust system it was found that the tailpipes could separate from the mufflers and become dangerous road debris; models that added the optional sport exhaust system are not included in this recall.
Affected vehicles were built between March and November of last year, but there have been no reports of the problem on any customer-owned vehicles. Porsche first noticed a cracked tailpipe weld on a test vehicle back in May, and since then has found similar problems on other internally owned vehicles, all with more than 25,000 miles on the clock. To fix the problem, dealers will be replacing the mufflers. Scroll down to read the official notice.

Porsche 918 Spyder goes ice drifting in Finland

Along with the Ferrari Laferrari and McLaren P1, the Porsche 918 Spyder is one of the trio of hybrid supercars potentially defining the path for these rarified vehicles going forward. When thinking about high-performance machines like this, the mind usually goes to precise driving around a circuit or maybe along a beautifully undulating road... not so much in the snow. Still, this group has more than enough power to make it through a little bit of powder, and the 918 proves that at the Porsche Driving Experience winter camp in Finland. Although, the set of studded snow tires certainly helps. Even with the trick all-wheel drive system in the Porsche combining a mid-mounted V8 and electric motors, this 918 has absolutely no problem lighting up the rear end in the snow and ice. Even at relatively low speeds, just a blip of the throttle is all it takes for the back tires to step out. However, the handling still looks quite controllable. It's hard to grin as this rare supercar does the Scandinavian Flick to set up a perfect drift between the snow banks.
