Porsche 911 911 on 2040-cars
Grayling, Michigan, United States
Up for sale is a 1968 Porsche 911 USA Coupe. The car started off as a project and was going to be made into a race car but was in too good of shape to tear apart. Some restoration was started but still needs body and paint and some interior clean up. 11830157 Chassis Number Engine- 901/14 Engine Code *3280276*. The engine runs great and looks to be original, no knocks or ticks. There seems to be minimal oil leaks(only a couple drops on case). It has the updated tensioners installed. The power seems like it is all there. The carburetors are brand new out of the box(NOT rebuilt) PMO Webber carbs with pictures of box with specs. The exhaust has SS SSI Dansk Equal length heater box headers. All of the engine tins, air cleaner, plus extras were powder coated and looks great. Alternator fan was cleaned up and coated and belt adjusted. The carburetors were just installed and tuned, Oil was just changed, valve adjustment, along with dropping the sump plate at 88,765 Transmission- 236623 Code. The Trans looks to be original. The Transmission shifts fine once the engine is warmed up and back down to normal idle. The clutch feels nice and firm with no signs of slippage. The Gear Oil was just changed and wheel bearings adjusted at 88,765. Body- Overall the body is in pretty good shape. There are a few common spots that are rusting. The floor pans are solid. All suspension mounting points are solid. The paint is not original, nor does it look like it once did (clearcoat is flaking off on roof and hood). Most of the chrome is in good shape. The side mirrors are aftermarket and to be honest do not fit the cars look. All of the body panels seem to line up. Interior- The car has Era correct Recaro seats that were just re-finished by Classic 9 Leather in Dearborn. The rear seats are original but are in good shape. All the covers and plates inside the car were taken out, sandblasted and either powder coated or painted. The dash has a pad on top of it, ,meaning the dash needs to be replaced. The headliner is all there and intact however has discolored and should also be replaced. The carpet is clean but shows its age. Heat works great! (Currently 15* here) Overall the car is in pretty good shape and should really be in the hands of someone who will appreciate it more.

2015 Porsche Cayenne spotted with facelift
Wed, 03 Apr 2013Although it's only been a few years since the current Porsche Cayenne was introduced, Porsche seems to be working on a midcycle update for its big SUV possibly in time to welcome the smaller Macan. As seen in these recent spy shots, it looks like the Cayenne will be getting a minor face- and butt-lift, but it's hard to say what other changes are in store or when the updated model will hit showrooms.
Up front, expect the Cayenne's new face to resemble what was just revealed on the 2014 Panamera, and we could also see this SUV using some of the new engines introduced on the Panamera including the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 or maybe even the E-Hybrid model. We're guessing that the new Cayenne could debut sometime next year likely for the 2015 model year. In the meantime, check out the gallery of spy shots above.
Jaguar F-Type pitted against Porsche 911 Cabriolet by Tiff Needell
Wed, 24 Apr 2013You knew it wouldn't take long and it looks like EVO is first onto YouTube with a battle between the 2014 Jaguar F-Type and the 2013 Porsche 911. Tiff Needell spends a few laps warming up the tires (read: drifting like mad) in each droptop before getting in a timed run to see who's champion and who's second best.
Before the bell rings, its the Porsche that's got everything to lose, the 50-year-old era-defining sportscar getting on with a 3.4-liter flat-six, 350 horsepower, a seven-speed manual and a 3,197-pound curb weight. Other sportscars, like the F-Type, continue to eye the 911 like a flag atop Everest that they plan to first touch, and then rip from its socket. The mid-trim Jaguar rolls into the contest with a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 with 380 hp, an eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters and a curb weight of 3,521 pounds.
The video below shows you what happens when you let all those numbers fight it out on the same stretch of curvy track. Check it out.
Car companies may need to start curbing model proliferation
Mon, 17 Nov 2014Looking at the current automotive landscape, especially from German makers, you quickly get the impression that less definitely isn't more. BMW alone offers its 3 Series platform in practically every segment possible, including the regular sedan and 4 Series Gran Coupe, which would seem to be direct competitors. Porsche might be the winner, though, with 20 different variants of the 911 listed for sale on its US website. However, some of this model madness might be reaching an end as companies begin cutting back spending or shifting money to other priorities.
According to Yahoo Finance, the offerings from the German automakers are up 25 percent over the past three years to over 200 models in Europe. The peak is expected to come around 2018 at 230 separate vehicles, according to consulting company PwC.
Amazingly, BMW, which is among the poster children for this model explosion, might be changing its tune. "I'm sure there will be points in the future where we look at certain cars and say, 'Maybe we need to think differently now,'" said head of sales Ian Robertson in an interview, according to Yahoo Finance. The statement certainly sounds shocking coming from a company rumored to have 23 front-wheel-drive vehicles all using a single platform on the way.
