Clean Rust Free 1977 Porsche 911 Project W/993 Turbo S All New Factory Parts on 2040-cars
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States
This is a rust free, no accidents1977 911 Porsche that was modified with 1998 Porsche 993 turbo S wide body parts (all metal factory Porsche 993 body parts).
For the most part this 911 is about 95% complete. It has been in the garage for the last 14 years.
The motor is a 2.7 in perfect condition and was rebuilt about 25k ago. The motor will start but will not run long, there is an air box issue. No modifications have been done to the motor, so it is shock and original (all numbers match) so whatever motor came in the car that is what it is. Transmission is in perfect condition also with a new clutch put in at the rebuild of the motor.
The back lid for the motor compartment is fiberglass with the all parts and hardware. This is not a kit build. All parts are OME.
I have the all the lights, except for the rear light under the rear deck lid. Heater boxes are stainless and were also replaced at the time of the motor rebuild. The body is the “Turbo S” body. I have all the interior parts (door panels, front seats etc). I do not have the front windshield and the rear windshield.
Unfortunately, I cannot complete this car and will have to sell it. The body parts and wheels and tires when I purchased them were all new and cost around $15k. The car is rust free and also has aftermarket performance sway bars. Doors are fitted with the new 993 door handles and new mirrors. Front tires are 225/45 ZR17 and rear tires are 275/40 ZR17.
This is the look I was going for when I started working on the car. The car is located in Philadelphia Pa 19119 minutes from I-95. Pick-up and shipping is the buyers responsibility. Please contact Mike @ 215 432 3659 for all questions and/or additional information. |

The exotic '80s: Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lotus and the Porsche 959
Thu, Apr 9 2015There's no secret that we are big fans of the MotorWeek Retro Review series around here. In an automotive world that often focuses on the latest tech and what's coming in the future, it's refreshing to take a look into the past to get a new perspective. That said, the show is really outdoing itself this time by posting a full episode from the '80s to YouTube, complete with the original, jazzy opening. The video is an absolute standout, too, with drives of some of the best supercars that Europe could offer at the time. Among the now classic sportscars that MotorWeek got to drive are the Ferrari 328, Lotus Esprit Turbo, Lamborghini Jalpa and Autokraft AC Mark IV. There's even a preview that sings the praises of the tech in the Porsche 959. The episode is basically a showcase of most of the exotics from young enthusiasts' walls and school folders during the '80s and is not to be missed. The Volkswagen Group switches official language to English
Wed, Dec 14 2016The Volkswagen Group can't be fairly thought of as entirely German anymore, so the news that the company is switching its official language to English to help attract managers and executives is a rational, if surprising, decision. While many VW Group companies are still staidly German in character and culture, consider the other companies that it controls: Bentley (British), Bugatti (French), Ducati and Lamborghini (Italian), Skoda (Czech), Scania trucks (Swedish), and SEAT (Spanish). Not to mention the large Volkswagen Group of America operation, which constructs cars in Chattanooga, TN. Volkswagen's explicit motivation is to improve management recruitment – making sure the company isn't losing out on candidates for important positions because they can't speak German – and that's inherently sensible in a globalized economy. Particularly considering, like it or lump it, that English is the lingua franca of said global economy. It also should make it inherently easier to communicate between its world-wide subsidiaries and coordinate operations. It's hard to say for sure if this will have any impact on the consumer, although it's easy to see the benefits if, say, VW Group hires some American product planners or engineers and they push for features and designs that more closely suit American needs. After all, the US is a hugely important market for any manufacturer, and so the switch to English almost certainly has something to do with the outsized influence of the US in the global economy. And there doesn't seem to be a downside from a purely rational perspective, although it could mean that the Group's corporate culture becomes less German. Whether that's a good or a bad thing depends on your perspective. Chris Harris brings together the 918 Spyder, LaFerrari, and P1
Sat, Nov 21 2015The Porsche 918 Spyder, Ferrari LaFerrari, and McLaren P1 show that a hybrid powertrain can make for blistering performance despite its electric assist. This trio doesn't arrive on track together very often, but Chris Harris assembled these three stars at the Portimao circuit for a nearly hour-long demonstration of their amazing capabilities. So, which one is quickest around the track? Harris provides an answer with in-car video of all three contenders. His team also goes out of its way to even the playing field by sourcing tires independently from Pirelli for the P1 and LaFerrari. With the technical part out of the way, Harris can start having fun by doing his usual slides during the driving comparison. Tiff Needell and Marino Franchitti also eventually show up to provide the perfect recipe for a track battle in these hypercars. If you don't have the time, skip about 14:25 into the clip just to see the lap times. However, those numbers only tell a tiny part of the story. The whole video is definitely worth a watch.
