Carrera 2, 993 Model Last Of Air Cooled, Manual, Collectable, Clean, Original on 2040-cars
Amagansett, New York, United States
A clean example in original condition, exceptional
I am 3rd owner, first 2 each for ten years and clearly looked after car I have owned for a year and driven very lightly on weekends ... The car drives amazingly and is as tight as can be, there is simply nothing about the car that gives concern and it drives very well. I have owned 2 996 versions and a 997 .... These 993 versions are just so much better, analogue motoring where everything feels so much better I have added a Darren Fister Stage iii exhaust but that is only modification other than non original stereo Otherwise service is up to date and car drives exceptionally well Please call me or much better come and have a look ... Car at Amagansett in Hamptons, Anthony 646 467.2026 This car is clean, original, ver collectible but even better to drive There is one thing that doesn't work is one side of drivers electric seat is not working on the forward/back movement. Position suits me but does need to be fixed, motors are working and cable twists so I am not sure what is jammed. All other electric seat functions work. |

Porsche announces works team for United Sportscar Championship
Tue, 24 Sep 2013Porsche is undoubtedly the most successful manufacturer in sportscar racing, and it's only upping its game. The German marque is launching its new LMP1 racer for Le Mans in pursuit of overall victory once again, and now that sportscar racing in North America is coming together under one banner in the United Sportscar Championship, Porsche has announced it is entering the fray with a works team here as well.
The new Porsche North America racing team will field two cars in the entire inaugural season of the Tudor United Sportscar Championship that's been formed out of the former Grand-Am and American Le Mans Series. The team will be based out of the Porsche Motorsport North America facility in Santa Ana, California, and will partner with three-time ALMS LMPC winners Core Autosport in getting a pair of the latest 911 RSR racecars to the front of the GT Le Mans class.
Drivers have yet to be announced, but are projected to be drawn out of Porsche's factory driver program, which includes such talents as Patrick Long, Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas and Neel Jani. Keep reading below for the official announcement.
How Porsche got Patrick Dempsey into the driver's seat for Le Mans
Tue, 27 Aug 2013How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, practice, practice. Ask Patrick Dempsey and he'll likely tell you the same secret for landing a role on a hit TV show or, for that matter, driving a Porsche in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
That's because, like McQueen and Newman, Dempsey has earned his place in that rarified field of actors who also race. He's competed in Baja and Grand-Am, co-owns an IndyCar team, and this year returned to Le Mans where he and his teammates Joe Foster and Patrick Long finished fourth in the GTE-Am class behind the wheel of their Porsche 911 RSR.
It's a grueling race, and the fluid transition between drivers behind the wheel is a key element to success. Check out the satirical video below to see how Dempsey and company got ready.
eGarage video features Helmuth Bott's personal Porsche 959 prototype
Fri, 12 Apr 2013"We thought we were going to build a super-911," said Peter Schutz, former CEO of Porsche AG of the development of the Porsche 959. That was before it started getting expensive. At that point, Helmuth Bott, Porsche R&D director got frightened. Costs ballooned because of the all-wheel drive, sequential turbocharging and other technology Porsche had never even thought about when it set out to build a 911 to compete in Group B. Schutz continued, "The amount of resources we were committing got totally out of hand." Instead of pulling the plug, Bott doubled down and drew on the strength of his brilliant team to build a car whose impact is still echoing aross the industry.
"It's probably one of our most prized possessions" says Don Leatherwood, Director of the Brumos collection where Dr. Bott's personal prototype resides, and where Frazer Spowart went to see the car and create a video for eGarage. Check out the sights and sounds of the 959 before it was the 959, and get personal takes on the car from Hurley Haywood, Peter Schutz and Don Leatherwood. Keep reading to see the video.
