C4s Cabriolet, Full Leather, Carbon Fiber, Diamond Black Wheels, Yellow Belts on 2040-cars
Lake Ozark, Missouri, United States
I'm the second proud owner of this PERFECT C4S Cabriolet. The car was owned by my banker, and is the second 'hand-me-down' car I've purchased from him. My banker and I are both absolute clean FREAKS. During the time that each of us owned the car, it was rarely driven on anything but a fair weather day--and only saw rain if the clouds came out before we could get it back to the garage. The car has only 19,750 miles, driven carefully, by ADULTS who appreciate the value and craftsmanship of the car. When I purchased it from David, we ran it through Aristocrat Motors certification program so that I could extend the warranty. That was totally unnecessary, as the car has never had a single mechanical issue and runs today like the day it was born. Oil changes with high-end lube have been accomplished on schedule (of course). The car has ZERO dents or flaws of any kind. When I gas it up, people inevitably asked if it is brand new. Importantly, when you step into the car it still smells BRAND NEW--the leather is absolutely delightful. I hate to sell it, but my kids are getting old enough to drive and I need to get the cash out of it to purchase cars for my kids. The joys of being a parent, right?

1949 Gm?nd Porsche shows the birth of an icon
Fri, 21 Mar 2014The Austrian village of Gmünd is more than just difficult to pronounce; it's also the birthplace of the Porsche brand. Before the company ever started building sports cars at its current home base near Stuttgart, the fledgling business completed several vehicles in the tiny town in Southern Austria. In this video, former Pikes Peak International Hill Climb champion Jeff Zwart takes a look at a 1949 Gmünd coupe to see how the company has evolved since its earliest days.
The thing to note about the Gmünd-built Porsches is their absolute design simplicity. The phrase "form follows function" gets bandied around a lot, but it really means something when you look at these early cars. However, the minimalism was partially out of necessity. The vehicles were meant to be sporty but certainly weren't rockets. Power came courtesy of a modified Volkswagen Beetle engine, and anything extraneous would have slowed the models down. Scroll down to watch Zwart go back in time to Porsche's beginnings.

Porsche-Piech buy 10% stake in VW's holding company
Tue, 18 Jun 2013In August, 2009, as the scuttled merger of Porsche and Volkswagen had gone bad and Porsche was backed up against the ropes, Porsche Automobil Holding SE (PAHSE) relinquished a ten-percent stake in itself to Qatar Holdings as well as options it held on 17 percent of VW shares. The sale meant that, for the first time since the founding of the company 61 years before, an entity outside the Porsche and Piech families had a say in the running of PAHSE.
Buying that ten-percent stake back returns full ownership to the two families, the holding company's sole possession being ownership of 50.7 percent of VW's common shares. The price paid wasn't disclosed, but at market rates the purchase would be worth close to $1.25 billion. Qatar intends to hold onto the 17-percent stake it has in Volkswagen.
