'Latest production version' of Porsche 918 shown off on Twitter

Porsche posted a picture of what it is calling "the latest production version" of the 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder on Twitter. It looks like the gasoline-hybrid supercar is being driven sportively on some California back roads during Monterey Speed Week.
Whatever updates were made to this version aren't visual (except for the paint), as the one Chris Harris drove last spring and another seen hot-weather testing in Nevada both had production bodies. We presume the changes are relatively minor and more than skin deep - perhaps brake calibration, suspension tuning or tweaks to the powertrain - but Porsche didn't release any more information.
The 918 Spyder is Porsche's latest supercar, which will compete with the LaFerrari and the McLaren P1 hybrid supercars. The Porsche may be the underdog of the group when considering horsepower, acceleration, top speed and price, but the 887-horsepower brute has the most advanced hybrid drivetrain of the three.

Porsche 912 is no longer the brand's black sheep

If you haven't looked recently, prices for many vintage Porsche 911s are now well out of the realm for mortal men to purchase. However, the growing values have their advantages because they mean that the 912 is being better accepted as a member of the Porsche family. In a new video, Petrolicious talks to one owner about his mildly modified example while the coupe zips through the backroads and city streets of France. Launched around the time of the 911, the 912 shared its body but retained the four-cylinder engine from the 356, rather than the new six. The older mill helped make the 912 cheaper to buy, but it also tarnished the coupe in the eyes of Porsche fans for years. Much like the four-cylinder 914 and 924, the 912 just seemed like a black sheep in the shadow of its more powerful brother. Following two massive changes to his life, Julien Borne bought a 1967 912 as a project to get back on the road. After hours of welding, wrenching and beating out panels by hand in his grandparents' neglected country house, he crafted this gorgeous example. Porsche calls in The Committee for Boxster and Cayman GTS

Porsche is set to offer up the very first GTS variants of its more affordable Boxster convertibles and Cayman coupes. This is very good news for enthusiasts. Aside from our original post announcing the hotted up models, though, Porsche hasn't given us much to go on.
And you know what? This video isn't much of help either. It's called The Committee, and we're guessing it's meant to highlight the lengths that Porsche went to in designing what are essentially sportier trim levels for its two most affordable entries. Still, it's a stylized and entertaining video with a few entertaining driving scenes scattered throughout, and it gives just a small glimpse of Porsche's view of the vaunted GTS badge.
