Black with Black full leather interior in a fantastic looking, one owner 997 turbo. Normally, car dealers take some poetic license in describing car condition but with only 580 miles it is quite safe to say the condition of this car is flawless. 997 turbos are noted for their beautiful design, inside and out, and the massive amounts of power they generate (480 hp with 502 Ft-lb in overboost). This car takes off from there and then adds in a well thought out option list to improve on both appearance and performance. Needless to say, with only 580 miles under its belt neither were ever experienced much. Heck, it's only been exposed to 19 hours of sunlight in its life. A partial listing of options includes factory Aerokit, ceramic brakes, adaptive/painted sport seats, sports chrono (including the overboost), locking diff, center console in leather, PCM package in black (beautiful!), interior trim in black, sport shifter, crest in headrests and door entries in carbon. It's a longer list but that's the general flavor and it all added up to an MSRP of $158k. Now let's get back to the performance, what any Porsche is really all about. If you haven't driven a modern Porsche turbo you need to experience it. Massive amounts of power and torque but in a completely controlled delivery. It is simply a blast to turn it loose. Put away the martinis, this is all the intoxication you'll ever want. With only 580 miles and a clean Carfax this is a special car.

This car has received an inspection to assess the general condition of the vehicle (note that this inspection is not a complete PPI). Inspection results and Carfax available upon request.

Magnus Walker drives 911 Turbos old and new

Wed, Mar 25 2015

It's been forty years now since Porsche released the original 911 Turbo. And as many things that have remained a constant, a lot has changed, too: the engine has gone from air-cooled to liquid, moved up to nearly a midships layout, and drives almost exactly double the original's output to all four wheels instead of just the back set through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission instead of a five-speed manual. It'll also reach highway speeds about twice as fast as the original. That's progress for you, and who better to compare Porsche Turbos old and new than Magnus Walker. The outlaw of the 911 scene may not look the part, but to those in the know, he's got the last word when it comes to Porsches. After searching for some time, Walker recently got his hands on a cherry of an original 930 Turbo from 1975 – the first year it was made – and had it shipped from Australia to California to add to his collection. eGarage caught up with Walker and brought along a new 991 Turbo for juxtaposition. Fortunately it also brought along a video camera or two to document the experience, so check it out in the latest video above.

Porsche 911 GT2 RS vs. Mercedes SLS AMG Black in battle of who can shred more rubber

Fri, 04 Apr 2014

We might be looking at the end of an era in European performance models. Mercedes-Benz is doing away with the SLS in favor of a rumored smaller and cheaper SLC, and Porsche has said that a new 911 GT2 isn't necessarily a sure thing, which means another 911 GT2 RS is even farther away. In its latest video, Evo's Jethro Bovingdon pits the ultimate versions of these German sports coupes against each other and finds two of the fastest cars the magazine has ever lapped around its track.
In one corner, there is the Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series that sits as the pinnacle of the company's halo model. It relies on the classic setup of a V8 mounted in front powering the rear wheels. On the other side, there is the 911 GT2 RS with a turbocharged flat-six mounted at the back, spinning the rear wheels. It was conceived to be Porsche's ultimate expression of a turbocharged 911, and while it's a few years old, Bovingdon shows that it's up to the task of racing a more modern rival.
Both of these rear-wheel-drive monsters are more than capable of some fantastically smoky power-slides, but they also show how great the last generation of sports cars was. Scroll down to check out the video.

Porsche considering turbo for new GT3 RS [w/poll]

Tue, 03 Jun 2014

Some automakers make one hardcore version of a sports car and are done with it. Or at least they make one at a time. Think Ferrari 458 Speciale, Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera (or Super Trofeo Stradale or Squadra Corse) or Maserati GranTurismo MC. But not Porsche. It transforms the 911 into the hard-core GT3, the even harder-core GT3 RS, the you've-got-to-be-psychotic GT2 and the do-you-have-a-death-wish GT2 RS. The RS models take things to a further extreme, but what separates GT3 from GT2 models has traditionally been the use of foced induction: GT3s are naturally aspirated, while GT2s go turbo. But that could all be about to change.
According to the rumors making their round of the webosphere, Porsche is considering using a turbocharged engine for the next GT3 RS. The reason is that, as we all know, Porsche has already pushed the 3.8-liter flat-six in the existing GT3 about as far as it can go, and then some. And buyers expect not only a more bare-bones package with the GT3 RS, but also a bit of extra power.
Given that everything seems to be going turbo these days, the move might make some measure of sense, especially if Porsche wants to avoid with the GT3 RS the spontaneous combustion issues it faced with the GT3. But we can't help but wonder why, at that point, it wouldn't just skip the GT3 RS and go straight for the GT2.
