FEATURES/OPTIONS: Equipped with optional heated Adaptive Sport Seats and Chrono Sport Package which increases the cars torque at the touch of a button, as well as push-button control of the Porsche Active Suspension Management and Porsche Stability Management. All of which makes for a much more aggressive driving experience, on-demand. The car came equipped with the optional Porsche Communication Management Nav system and 6 disk CD changer, with optional Bose surround speakers. We upgraded to a Porsche-specific Alpine DVD Nav system with Bluetooth and rear back-up camera. The original Porsche system will be included with the sale for those purists who prefer it to be all stock. Other ad-ons include an integrated radar detection system with blue LED indicator lights behind the steering wheel. The front plate bracket is attached to the underside of the front bumper, leaving no holes if removed. Magnus Walker and Alex Ross stop by Leno's garage with their 997 GT2
Mon, Feb 9 2015The market is littered with Porsche 911 tuners, with names like 9ff, Gemballa and TechArt leading the field. Seldom do any two ever collaborate on a joint project, but that's just the kind of match that was made at Jay Leno's Garage. That's where Alex Ross of SharkWerks and restomodder Magnus Walker first met, sparking a collaboration that yielded the car you see here. And fittingly, they've brought it back to the garage to show off what resulted. Though Walker usually deals with older Elfens, this time he applied his eye for style on a more contemporary 2008 997 GT2, decking it out with grey stripes, orange bumpers, gold wheels and decals and a tartan-upholstered interior. He left the mechanical bits to Ross and company, who dropped the suspension and increased output to 650 horsepower at the wheels (775 at the crank), surpassing the stock GT2 and even the later GT2 RS. The result is pretty hard-core and old-school, but you'll want to watch the video above to see for yourself.
Motor Trend holds World's Greatest Drag Race for the third time
Fri, 23 Aug 2013As part of Motor Trend's Best Driver's Car competition, the buff book has held its third iteration of the World's Greatest Drag Race. With an airfield and a dozen of the world's finest performance cars at its disposal (oh, and a helicopter), the MT team did what any good group of enthusiasts would do, and tried to figure what car could cover a quarter mile the quickest. World's greatest drag race, indeed.
The contestants, as MT points out, cover a huge variety of engine types, drivelines, aspiration types and body styles, making for a genuinely varied and interesting field of competitors. Here's the full list of cars taking part.

Sat, 08 Feb 2014European auto writers, especially the British, have a bit of a reputation for favoring their own domestic cars over foreign rivals in comparison tests. Just think about how many times you've heard Jeremy Clarkson deify the latest product of UK loins while denigrating an American rival as a hopeless "Yank Tank." However, we have to tip our hats to the folks at Autocar because in its latest video comparing the 2014 Corvette Stingray to the Porsche 911, Jaguar F-Type V8 S and Audi R8, it's actually given the Vette a fair shake.
Autocar has put the Stingray through a battery of tests against what it considers to be the three best sports cars on sale in Europe today. And while the tests that it has chosen are somewhat random and subjective, it has concluded that the C7 can stand up against its rivals, even irrespective of its price. It's one thing to hear about how great the Stingray is from American writers, but it's great to know that not all Brits think we've gone crazy for calling the new Chevrolet "exquisite."
