With a sure-footed, four-wheel drive powertrain, the enhanced look that comes with their "wide-body" styling, and with tops that open or close at the touch of a button, the 2007 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 and 2007 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolets truly are sports cars that can be enjoyed year around and regardless of the season.

For the 2007 model year, these fabled Cabriolets also offer new standard and optional equipment, including standard tire-pressure monitoring systems. Also available is a new color - Meteor Grey Metallic - as well as a North American navigation system that includes maps of Mexico and Puerto Rico. Yet other new options include the new 19-inch wheel in Turbo design.

Both Cabriolets feature flared wheel arches designed to accommodate a widened track, larger wheels and tires, and all-wheel-drive powertrains that give the venerable Porsche 911 additional dimensions of dynamic stability, especially in inclement weather conditions.

The 2007 911 Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S Cabriolets were designed and developed in parallel with the fixed-roof versions of these Porsche sports cars. Instead of merely taking a Coupe, cutting off its top and then reinforcing its structure with weighty panels, Porsche engineers were able to provide the pleasures of open-top motoring by designing a vehicle that offers the stiffness and strength needed without adding unwanted weight. The result is outstanding dynamic performance with exceptional safety protection.

  • Still the quintessential sports car after four decades, the 2007 Porsche 911 has a unique blend of style, performance and sound that's unmatched by anything on the road.

Consumer Reports declares most and least loved cars [w/video]

Wed, Dec 3 2014

Consumer Reports is crunching the numbers from its annual owner-satisfaction survey, and part of that process is finding out how attached drivers are to their cars. CR simply asks readers of models up to three years old if they would buy the same vehicle again in light of their entire ownership experience, and tallies the results. After looking at the responses for about 350,000 vehicles, it turns out that people really love a certain California-built, electrically powered luxury sedan. That's right, this year's the overall winner was the Tesla Model S with a whopping 98 percent of owners saying they would purchase another one (the Model S also won this award last year, with 99 percent satisfaction). The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray came in a close second with 95 percent of drivers hoping to park another one in their garage. A few models weren't quite so favored, though. The Nissan Versa Sedan was the least loved model among its owners; a mere 42 percent said that they would purchase another. The aging Jeep Compass didn't do much better, with just 43 percent of drivers willing to buy the softroader again. On average, about 70 percent of owners say they would buy their car again, and only four cars ranked below 50 percent in CR's findings. Check out the video above to see some of the winners and losers in a few of CR's categories. If you're a subscriber, you can check out the full list on its website. Mercedes-AMG GT S pit against Porsche 911 Turbo in Evo Deadly Rivals test

Fri, May 1 2015

When Mercedes-Benz announced that its all-new AMG GT would start at $129,900 deeply undercutting the $200,000-plus of its predecessor, the SLS AMG, immediate questions focused on how it'd stack up against the latest crop of high performers that occupy the mid-$100,000 range. Evo, over in the UK, didn't have to wait all that long. The latest installment in the outlet's "Deadly Rivals" series compares the AMG GT with the latest Porsche 911 Turbo. On paper, the test is sure to be interesting. The Mercedes uses a 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 with 503 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, while a seven-speed AMG Speedshift dual-clutch shuffles power to the back axle. The 911 Turbo's formula is more of a known quantity – 520 hp from a twin-turbo, 3.8-liter flat six with the company's own PDK working in unison with all-wheel drive, torque vectoring and rear-axle steering. Of course, we're not going to spoil the results for you. Take a look at the video up top, and let us know what you think of Evo's latest track battle.

Porsche goes karting in its Cayman GTS

Sun, 03 Aug 2014

Think Mini is the king of Go-Kart Handling[TM]? Well, you might be mistaken, as Porsche proves here it's fully capable of delivering a driving experience that'd fit in quite nicely on a go-kart track.
Using a new and very red Cayman GTS, the Stuttgart-based manufacturer invades a kart track in northern Italy and sets the mid-engined sports car loose to slip, slide and zip its way around the circuit. As far as videos for Sunday evening go, this one ticks all the boxes.
Take a look.
