The 40th Anniversary 911 is the jubilee model as the 13thversion of the Porsche 911 marking the climax of the outstanding career of what is known as the "996" internally at Porsche. All models are available exclusively in GTsilver metallic - a color that was only available until now for the 612-hpCarrera GT. Porsche celebrated 911's 40year history in 2003 (40 Fast Years) with the 996 Turbo model's front-end, Variocam Plus, special dynamic sealed panels, never used again rims, and special logo "40 jahre 911" on the back. There was only 1,963 units available, in order to remind the first year of the 911. Distinguishing styling features are the front cooling air openings adopted from the Porsche 911 Turbo. The side air intake grilles at the front are painted in same color than body, other cool and expressive styling details are the left and right sill trims, the shot-blasted, polished 18-inch Carrera wheels (used only for this model) and the high-gloss polished exhaust tailpipes. A sliding sunroof and the bi-xenon headlights with washing system complete the exterior features. There is an aluminum"911" logo on the engine cover at the rear. The3.6 liter boxer engine has a power output of 254 kW equaling full 345horsepower. Output is 25 bhp more than the regular 911 Coup'e which is perfect for drivers with a sporty driving habit. The direct accelerator pedal linkage guarantees a spontaneous rpm response. Cars top speed increases by 5 km/h to 290 km/h and makes it the second fastest naturally aspirated Porsche model in the 911 product line, following the fantastic sport vehicle, GT3. The car's interior is looking very exclusive and stylish thanks to the details like the aluminum finish instrument dial rings and the numbered "911 40th Anniversary" aluminum plate on the center console.
Exceptional example of the 40th AE 911. No dents, scratches, well maintained, newer tires, Michelin Pilot ZX (6K miles), interior excellent, non smoker, Car is stock with no body, mechanical or electrical modifications. All features work, CD changer is temperamental as the cartridge does not always latch on the first time.
Also included are custom fitted black sheepskin seat covers, winter car cover, invisible bra in front deck and rear view mirrors, winter charger and all manuals.

DP Motorsport tries to turn a vintage Porsche 911 into a sleeper
Tue, 20 Aug 2013Once you get past the fact that it's hard to call a car a sleeper when it has race-product stickers on its quarter panel, and the script across the back panel reads "Porsche 911 3.2 Sleeper," it's fun to imagine what this car can do. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Porsche 911, Germany's DP Motorsport took a model from 1986, stripped it of everything - including the paint and undercoating - then replaced everything with lightweight and race-ready parts.
In went race cams and ported cylinder heads, a lightweight flywheel, an RSR titanium racing exhaust, 935-style lollipop seats and RSR carpeting, a lightweight battery, perforated and galvanized hinges and brackets, hardened perspex windows. The 3.2-liter engine puts out 270 horsepower - 70 hp above the stock 911 on sale here in 1986 - and 226 pound-feet of torque through a limited slip differential to staggered wheels. The exterior color is metallic rock-green lacquer.
If you want one, $120,00 is where the part starts, but DP Motorsport says it offers the parts individually if you don't need your vintage Porsche to sleep this hard. On a side note, for a chucklesome journey back in time, check out this review of the 1986 911 that gets things going with this line: "First off, the Porsche 911 is very expensive - how does about 40 thou grab you?" Back on topic, there's a press release below that tells the rest of the story of the 3.2 Sleeper.

Take a POV hot lap in the Porsche 918 Spyder
Mon, 14 Apr 2014That title about says it all. This is a hot lap of the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, TX, with Porsche Works Driver Patrick Long at the wheel of a Porsche 918 Spyder. The camera is basically showing us everything that Long sees, making this not just one of the coolest 918 videos we've seen, but also one of the neatest laps of CoTA.
As Long peers through the bends, so will you. You'll see him fight the wheel, and find out just how difficult it is to hustle this hybrid hypercar around a world-class track at speed. It's pretty darn entertaining. There are also a few scattered shots of the 918's exterior just to break up the interior awesomeness, although we aren't exactly complaining about those. Take a look below for the short video from Porsche.
