2001 Porsche 911 Carrera Convertible. Rear wheel drive. 6 speed manual transmission, alloy wheels.
116k miles. Clean title. Runs and drives great. Has seatcovers over the original grey leather seats which have some wear. I have found a set locally for $600 locally, but not included in the price. Great fun to drive this car. Drivers airbag has a little of the coating peeling. Airbag functions just fine with no dashboard lights on . I have priced a replacement airbag and it is about $300, and could be slightly less. If you add another $1,000 to your price, I can replace both of these items for you. The car is being sold in its present condition. You can drive it anywhere. Just had a fresh synthetic oil change and belts. Title is from Hawaii with current registration until August 2014. Tires, brakes, and clutch are all in good condition. Power convertible top works fine. |

UK Porsche GT3 owners are irked that other countries are getting better deals
Sun, 27 Apr 2014Porsche 911 GT3 owners in the United Kingdom are up in arms, but it's not for the reason you might think. Okay, well it sort of is. See, it's been fairly well documented that 911 GT3 owners have had their cars grounded over concerns that the engines could catch fire. Porsche is rushing to build and install replacement engines in all 800 or so cars, scattered around the globe.
This isn't really the issue. The problem for these British owners is compensation. While the car's have been grounded, car notes still need to be paid. To deal with this, American GT3 owners are being paid $2,000 per month. German owners get 175 euros ($242 at today's rates) per day while a GT3 owner in Dubai is allegedly receiving $12,000 (it's unclear if this is a lump sum or a monthly payment). Basically, if you aren't able to drive your six-figure super car, you shouldn't have to pay for it. Seems reasonable regardless of the make.
British owners, though, aren't being compensated, and for 30 to 35 owners, that's not acceptable. They've banded together and are led by Sunil Mehra.

Porsche 944 Turbo jumps in the MotorWeek wayback machine
Sat, Apr 25 2015While there's no shortage of five- or ten-minute time wasters on the Internet, we humbly submit MotorWeek's awesome series of retro reviews as the best way to take up a short break. This time around, we have a classic Porsche from the 1980s, with John Davis reviewing the 944 Turbo. With a whopping 247 horsepower, the 944 Turbo still represents something of a performer even today, with Davis and Company recording a solid 5.7-second sprint to 60. While it might hold its own against today's hot hatchbacks, it's clear that today's vehicles have come a very long way in terms of interior equipment. Among the things MotorWeek highlights that seem weirdly out of place today include the passenger front airbag and, among the variety of old fashioned controls scattered throughout he cabin, the hilarious equalizer controls for the 10-speaker Blaupunkt stereo.
