This near new Turbo S Cabriolet was traded by its car enthusiast owner from his fleet of exotic cars that are all driven very little.  This special ordered Porsche comes with the Certificate of Authenticity that the Porsche factory supplies only on vehicle that are special ordered.  The owner must have had a hard time deciding what to order, hence the $188,040 MSRP!  This car looks new and drives & handles new.  Naturally, it has a Certified Clean Carfax with no accident history.  The GT Silver Metallic special order paint is flawless with not a ding, dent, or scratch anywhere.  The Black Full Leather Interior with special order red stitching and seat belts is equally as nice and still smells new as no one has ever smoked in the Porsche.  The optional Black painted Turbo wheels are the RS Spyder Center Locking Wheels that are flawless and are mounted on the factory 19" tires.  When you are driving down the street people just look over and smile when they see this mean looking machine going down the road.  Have 2 sets of master keys, all books and papers from new.  By the way, this car was purchased October 11, 2011 and is covered under the factory warranty until October 2015 or 50,000 miles.  The original owner left  the new owner 47,655 miles of warranty!  Would be glad to arrange to have the Turbo delivered to your front door or would pick you up at the Kansas City airport so you can drive this great car home that the window sticker claims 24 MPG, not bad for a Twin Turbo 530 HP engine.  This vehicle may be purchased prior to the end of the Ebay listing, call RON 913-707-8111 for information.

Mark Webber gets early clearance for Porsche departure

Thu, 28 Nov 2013

If there's no rest for the wicked, there's surely even less rest for the wickedly fast. And make no mistake about it, Mark Webber is wickedly fast. He may not have proven able (or given the opportunity, depending on who you ask) to emerge from Sebastian Vettel's shadow after six seasons partnered with the multiple world champion at Red Bull Racing, but he's still won nine Formula One grands prix, to say nothing of the sports car races he won with Mercedes in the late 90s. But now he's leaving F1 to anchor Porsche's new LMP1 program, and according to the latest reports, he's departing Red Bull for Porsche sooner than expected.
Typically an F1 driver is obliged to stay with his team until the end of the calendar year - not just the end of the racing season - helping out with things like promotional events and fine-tuning next year's car. But news.com.au reports that Red Bull has given him early leave, so once the racing action in Brazil is done on Sunday, he's departing straight for Porsche's racing headquarters in Wiessach, Germany.
It won't be Webber's first visit to the facility, having already swung by to have his new seat fitted. But his early arrival will undoubtedly help him and Porsche get up and running ahead of schedule. The move may have been facilitated by a new sponsorship deal that could see Webber carry Red Bull with him to Le Mans, so don't be too surprised to see the energy drink company's logo on the side of the new Porsche once the new racing season gets under way next year, whether in concert with or instead of the anticipated revival of the Martini Racing livery.

24 Hours of Le Mans an on-and-off love affair

Mon, 24 Jun 2013

There was little usual about this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans - intermittent rain in the weeks before the race meant cars didn't get on track as much as they wanted, and intermittent rain during the race meant cars went off track a lot more than they wanted. The race started with a wet track, and one of the records broken because of the random downpours was the number of times the safety car led the field - 11 times this year - although the record of two hours and 53 minutes of lapping behind the safety car, set in 2011, was not eclipsed.
None of that served to dampen the action. With little more than an hour left in the race there were cars still only a few seconds apart fighting for position, leads still changing because of pit stops and everyone drafting anyone they could.
Things didn't go the usual way up front, either - well, not exactly...

Next-generation Panamera will spawn variants, Sport Turismo in the running

Mon, Dec 1 2014

A few years ago it took actual willpower not to consider what kinds of cool derivatives Porsche could make with the Panamera. Our fancies were helped by patent drawings of a Panamera convertible, rumors of a two-door 928 GT and internal Porsche sketches of such a car, and report after report after report that the current, second-generation Panamera would begin to expand the family. That hasn't happened, but according to a new report in Auto Express, the next Panamera will be the one to begin the bifurcation. Wolfgang Hatz, the brand's head of research and development, told the mag that, "We have prepared it for a lot of derivatives, personally I like very much the Sport Turismo." The Panamera Sport Turismo, remember, was the hybrid, concept wagon that rolled into the 2012 Paris Motor Show and made everyone ask, "Why didn't you build this design from the beginning?" It could have been Hatz's English, but after professing his ardor for the Sport Turismo, the executive said, "But there is a good chance for more derivatives." We're not sure if that means the Sport Turismo is all but approved, or if he was speaking of the third generation Panamera's new MSB platform in general. Even though Hatz mentioned a coupe and convertible, it sounds like that latter variant won't be happening, Hatz saying that the brand already has the Boxster and 911 Cabriolet. We're willing to forgive that omission – who's really looking for a four-door convertible, anyway? – and welcome the Sport Turismo first if Hatz will please please please get us a new 928.
