You are viewing a mint 1998 Carrera Cabriolet with 84K miles on it. Superbly maintained and owned by a Porsche enthusiast. You will not find a cleaner 993 anywhere.
This car has been adult driven and always garaged. This is the ultra desirable and rare 993 with tiptronic---very few of these were made and they rarely come up for sale. This 1998 is the last year Porsche made an air-cooled motor.
Everything is in good working order and the AC blows ice cold and was just serviced. The top in the picture is black but, it is going into the shop next week to get a brand new fresh grey top. I want to make sure this car is like new the for new owner. I also just had a complete engine service (6K) done less than 100 miles ago. I have receipts and your welcome to speak with the shop (Black Forest) in San Diego. The service included:
* Transmission Service---new fluids
* AC Service
* All new belts (3)
* Fresh oil change
* New Fuel Filter
* New Plug Wires ---The wires were 371 plus labor and we had to drop the motor for this another 1700 dollars
* New Plugs
* New Cabin Filters
* 4 Wheel Alignment (317)
* New Distributor Caps and Rotors
* New Cabriolet Control Unit---with a 2 year warranty
* New trunk shocks
* New valve cover gaskets
I just spent 6K on the motor and I have the receipts to prove it. This motor is very fresh and tight and will be worry free for another 80K miles. This car has a fresh motor and will have a brand new top!!! I spent all that money on the 911 because I thought I would own this car forever but, last week my wife drove a Cayenne and wanted it---I told her she could not have 2 Porsche's and I am now selling her 911.
The car has a multi-disc unit in the trunk with the spare tire, compressor, toolkit and jack. The rims and tires pictured in the photo do NOT come with the car. I am including the original Turbo 911 rims. If you are interested in purchasing the rims and tires separately please give me a call.
Bidder is responsible for shipping. Upon end of auction successful bidder will submit a NON-refundable 1,000 dollar deposit. 500 to be paid immediately and the remainder of the deposit to be paid within 24 hours. The remaining balance of the winning bid to be paid within 3 days.
Please call me prior to hitting buy it now as I am selling this locally and reserve the right to end the auction early. I ask to call me because I unfortunately have 2 negative feedbacks because I had a kids backpack and motorcycle tank bag that was listed on Ebay and I sold them at a garage sale the same day people bid for them on Ebay. I explained to them I sold them and they threw a fit and gave me negative feedback. Please see my feedback.

1974 Porsche 914 EV conversion still looks good
Thu, Jan 23 2014Looking through the pages of the EV Album is a great way to learn about the breadth and depth of the electric vehicle community. Branching well beyond the three dozen or so electric vehicles that are currently sold by major automakers in the US, EV Album showcases lots of DIY conversions of all types. A 1995 Fiat Cinquecento? Check. A 1992 Kewet Eljet 2? No problem. The site's old-fashioned looks (it was started in 1997) show just how long people have been passionate about their EVs. Many of the cars are throwbacks to a previous time and we found a prime example of that, a converted 1974 Porsche 914 (EV Album page here) this week. Now powered by a Prestolite MTC4001 Series Wound DC motor and some flooded nickel-cadmium batteries, the 914 has a top speed of 80 miles per hour and a range of 35 miles. But only "if you are taking it easy," of course. The motor has a peak output of 60 horsepower and 25 hp continuous. Converted over 600 hours (!) to electric power at a cost of $10,000, it is now owned by Charlie Garlow of Maryland. The car is on display at the Washington Auto Show this week and serves as a great reminder of what most EV drivers used to have to do to drive emissions free. Evo pits BMW M3 against Porsche Macan in drag battle
Sun, 24 Aug 2014If you want to move five passengers in very rapid fashion and you've got a $75,000 budget, two newly introduced four-door models immediately come to mind - both are the highest performing vehicles in their respective segments. But which is faster off the line, to the 60-mile-per-hour benchmark or flat-out over an even longer run? Evo took both to paved aircraft runway to find out.
In lane one we've got the all-new Porsche Macan Turbo, which boasts a twin-turbocharged, 3.6-liter V6 rated at 400 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. The Porsche is fitted with a seven-speed, dual-clutch gearbox, and the 4,244-pound crossover has the traction advantage of standard all-wheel drive. In lane two is the all-new BMW M3, powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six rated at 425 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. It is also equipped with a seven-speed, dual-clutch gearbox, but only the rear wheels of the 3,595-pound sedan are driven. Both the BMW and Porsche arrive with launch control, which helps to remove driver error off the line.
Which automaker's launch control system is better off the line? Does all-wheel-drive grip give the crossover the advantage it needs to overcome its adversary's power-to-weight advantage? Will aerodynamics factor into the results? Which would you put in your garage, and why? The video may surprise you.
Porsche 911 GT3 RS getting all-new atmospheric engine
Thu, Jan 15 2015Porsche surprised many of its most puritanical enthusiasts when it took a decidedly more usable approach with the current 911 GT3. But when the new GT3 RS debuts, it promises to be a much more extreme departure. And a big part of that comes down to the engine. At the Detroit Auto Show this week, Auto Express spoke with Porsche R&D chief Wolfgang Hatz – who also happens to be head of engine and transmission development for the entire Volkswagen group. Hatz revealed that Porsche has developed a completely new engine for the GT3 RS, and while previous rumors suggested the RS would go turbo to fill in for the lack of a GT2 (and make the most out of its displacement), Hatz confirmed that it will be naturally aspirated. Considering that Porsche rarely goes downwards when it comes to 911 engine displacement, only upwards, we'd expect the new RS to pick up where the previous 4.0 left off. The new GT3 RS is also expected to pack a more extreme suspension, aero and stripped-out interior, but those hoping for an old-school approach may be disappointed to learn that the new RS will (at least at launch) only be available with the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission – though a manual version could follow if there's enough demand. In a related development, Hatz also hinted that the Cayman GT4 could debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March, with an even more extreme approach than the previous Cayman R. The new top-of-the-line Cayman is reportedly being developed to comply with GT4 class racing regulations but be fully homologated for road use. Related Video:
