1993 Porsche 911 (964) C2 Cabriolet presented here in the gorgeous Black over Dove Grey with black piping and Black Top with contrast stitching. This low mileage example with stick shift (G50 trans) and is in incredible condition inside and out. Body seems to retain factory paint all around (has not been measured) and looks incredible. The interior is nearly new and aside from an aftermarket stereo and the phone being removed (original equipment present and comes with) it is completely stock. Porsche 911 RSR in bizarre, terrifying rally crash
Sun, 22 Sep 2013As far as rally crashes go, this one is pretty terrifying. At this month's Hellendoorn Rally, Harry Kleinjan failed to negotiate a turn and drove his Porsche 911 RSR straight into a Jersey barrier, flipping the car into the river.
While it's unclear what caused the accident, German Car Scene notes, "We can see his brakes locking up ahead of the impact, which also ripped both driver's side wheels off, so it may be a case of ill-judged late braking, locking brakes or a jammed throttle." Us? We're betting it might have been bad pace notes. Fortunately for Harry and his co-driver, all indications are that no one was hurt. Audi has won 12 of the last 15 events, the scion of Auto Union is trying to make it 13 this year. To do so, it will have to overcome a situation faced only three other times during its dominance of La Sarthe: underdog status. Toyota has won the first two races of the year and claimed pole for this race, the rumor being that this year it's Toyota's race to lose.
And then there's Porsche. It's been 16 years since the Stuttgart brand raced on the top rung at Le Mans, three years years since it announced its return, just a year since it acquired Mark Webber in a signing that wasn't subtle and a few months since we got eyes on the 919 Hybrid.
Winterkorn steps down as CEO of Porsche SE
Mon, Oct 19 2015Martin Winterkorn's departure from all things related to the Volkswagen Group is nearing completion. After having stepped down as chairman of the automaker's executive board nearly a month ago in the wake of the automaker's diesel emissions scandal, he's now leaving the direction of the company's principal shareholder, as well. After VW acquired Porsche (the automaker) several years ago, and in turn was principally acquired by Porsche (the holding company), the latter installed Winterkorn as its chief executive officer in order to cement ties between the parties. He's served as chairman of the executive board (German-speak for CEO) at Porsche Automobil Holding SE ever since, but he's now officially resigned from that position. In his place, the holding company has named Hans Dieter Potsch as its new chief exec. Potsch was also recently named as chairman of the supervisory board of the Volkswagen Group, having served until now as CFO of both VW AG and of Porsche SE. Winterkorn's principal successor at the helm of daily operations at VW is Matthias Muller, formerly CEO of the Porsche auto brand and now CEO of the entire VW group. The development brings Winterkorn's exit closer to completion. However the departing executive still, for the time being, remains at the head of group divisions Audi, Scania, and Truck & Bus GmbH. We don't expect it will be much longer, however, before he formally resigns from those chairmanships as well.
