1988 Porsche 911 Carrara Coupe. All numbers match, engine, trans, body panels (all vin number tags are in place on body panels) etc and everything is in order. he car is in exceptional original unmolested condition with very low milage of 90,673 considering it's age. I adore this Carrara and am reluctantly selling the car. Factory options included Power Sunroof, Power Leather Seats, Cruise Control, 16 inch Fuchs wheels. I obtained the Certificate of Authenticity (COA) from Porsche which will be included.

Exterior:

All panels are razor straight. Paint is vibrant and very glossy. Appears to be all original and I see no evidence of resprays anywhere but I cannot guarantee this. It is possible the hood was resprayed since there are so few stone chips but I can't honesty tell. When I purchased the car it had a "Bra" on the hood (which is included) so that may be why there are few stone chips that you would typically see on these cars. There is one very small scratch and a very very small ding on the roof and some very minor blemishes around car as to be expected of a 30 year old vehicle. I choose to leave as is since they are so minor rather then touch up. I would rate the overall paint as a solid 8.5 out of 10. It presents really well and looks almost new. All Glass in very nice condition. Please note windshield does have some minor pitting. All lamps etc work properly. Please note remote electronic mirrors do not work and I never got around to checking into issue. Everything is super clean and in order with no signs rust or repairs anywhere, ever. Battery tray area clean and dry no issues. Includes original jack, spare and Tool Kit and I believe the original compressor.
I did install a German Dansk Sport muffler but retained the original that is included if you want it. Fuchs wheels are in good condition but I think 2 of them have minor blemishes. I did put small spacers on the wheels to fill out the wheel wells a bit better and installed longer wheel studs on the rear but retained the originals which are included as are a set of wheel locks. All rubber moldings, bumper pads, weather stripping, lens etc in very good condition. I did add the black stone guards on the rear panels but would be happy to remove them if you prefer prior to pick up of vehicle.

Interior:
Leather is tight and without tears, splitting, fading or discoloration. Bolsters show very little signs of wear that is typical on these cars. Dash is perfect, no distortion, discoloration or cracks. Headliner like new, Door panels very nice, (please note the door panel pockets are a bit distorted but very presentable) Pedals unworn, All switches, controls, indicators and gauges work correctly. Clock keeps perfect time (note, second hand does not work). Alpine period correct stereo. Sunroof works properly. Air conditioning was upgraded prior to my acquisition. Blows cool but not ice cold. May need a recharge but compressor is functioning properly. Carpets in very good condition with aftermarket Lloyds non logo front mats. Speakers were replaced with upgrades no modifications.
Heater works correctly. Shift knob shows wear and I had planned to replace. Gauges are clear, crisp with vibrant coloration on markings.

Engine:
The 3.2 Engine is all original and I see no evidence it has ever been out of the car. Ran a compression check on engine when I purchased car and all cylinders were up to spec and within range. Engine starts quickly, runs smooth and pulls strongly. Car shifts smoothly and properly and is firm and tight. No issues anywhere. Car will blow small amount of blue smoke upon startup for a few seconds if its been sitting a long time but never after that.

Always maintained and had recent plugs, cap/rotor , air filter, oil change and filter, transaxle fluid change, brake pads, etc. New battery installed 2016.
Engine compartment is in order and clean, All stickers in place. Insulation pad between engine and rear seat was recently replaced.

Petrolicious studies the purity of a Porsche 911 2.7 RS

Thu, 17 Oct 2013

Water-cooled Porsches are superior to the old, air-cooled models. This really isn't up for debate, despite the mob of Porsche purists, with pitchforks and torches in hand, currently descending on the Autoblog offices. Water-cooled models are more powerful and easier to live with, two factors that make modern Porsches just so darn amazing.
And while we won't hear arguments on anything we've written above, we will say that the old air-cooled models, while not superior, are just, somehow, better. They sound better - a lot better. They're simple, elemental and wildly entertaining things, that just beg for more and more. They rev in a way that forces drivers to work to unlock their power, rather than just push their right foot down. Part of the appeal of air-cooled Porsches, in addition to what we just listed, are the gorgeous cars they're slotted into, like the subject of the latest video from Petrolicious.
Starring a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS, this video is a bit shorter than recent ones, but it's no less exciting. This 911, complete with it's sweet-sounding exhaust is the kind of simple, entertaining thing we can watch over and over. Scroll down for the full video.

Porsche releases new Panamera Edition models

Mon, Mar 30 2015

We can't remember the last time we came across a special edition called "Edition," but that's what Porsche is offering with the Panamera. Available on the base, 310-horsepower models, the Panamera Edition is so subtle you'd need to be in the secret owners club to identify it. High-gloss black trim strips outline the windows, it sits on 19-inch Panamera Turbo wheels with colored center caps, the sills are inscribed with the word "Edition," and body-colored door handles are fitted if you pay extra for Porsche Entry & Drive. The cabin gets Porsche logos in the seat headrests, those front thrones being 14-way in the US, climate controlled seats throughout, and a two-tone treatment in black and Luxor Beige. Oh, and special floor mats. Performance upgrades come in the inclusion of active suspension, and convenience comes with the included Park Assist. Tempted? Head to your Porsche dealer in June to take one home. The Panamera Edition will require $80,000, an eminently reasonable (for Porsche) $1,900 premium over the standard car. The Panamera 4 Edition needs $84,300, an even more reasonable $1,500 premium. Destination adds another $995 to both of those prices. The press release below has a few more details. Related Video: Porsche Panamera Edition: Sports sedan with extensive standard features Atlanta. A new special version of the Porsche Panamera sports sedan stands out through elegant styling combined with a significantly expanded range of standard equipment. Two models with powerful six-cylinder engines will be offered: the Panamera Edition and Panamera 4 Edition both come with an engine that delivers 310 hp. The Panamera 4 Edition features active all-wheel drive with an electronically controlled, map-controlled multi-plate clutch (Porsche Traction Management, PTM). The exterior of the Panamera Edition models is marked by additional subtle design tones, including high-gloss black trim strips on the side windows. The standard 19-inch alloy wheels in Panamera Turbo II design feature wheel center caps with a colored Porsche crest. The door handles are finished in exterior color when Porsche Entry & Drive is optionally selected. The Panamera Edition also boasts a two-tone standard interior in Black / Luxor Beige with the Porsche crest embossed on all head rests, Sport Design steering wheel, door sill plates with "Edition" lettering, and special floor mats.

Can a Corvette really be compared to a 911 with options costing more than the Chevy?

Wed, 29 Jan 2014

In this latest video from Drive, Chris Harris asks straight away, "Can you still compare a base Corvette to a Porsche Carerra?" That's an particularly interesting question in this film, as the 911 in question is a 400-horsepower Carrera S model that's been fitted with $60,000 in options. Base price of a Corvette Stingray? $51,995. Harris' tester features an automatic and some other goodies that push it right up to that $60,000 range. So yes, the options on the Porsche cost as much as this entire 460-hp Chevrolet.
Harris stresses that this isn't a full review, but he does exercise both cars in a more composed manner before reverting to his traditionally exuberant driving style. The impressions are, as always, spot on, with Harris favoring the pointy nature and V8 power of the Stingray, while enjoying the gearbox (Porsche's exceptional PDK transmission) and just about everything else on the 911.
Take a look below for the latest video from Drive, and let us know if you agree with Mr. Harris' views on these two sports cars.
