This 1988 Porsche is a great driver. The color is (Felsen Gruen) which translates to Granite Green. This is a rare color that was only used a few years. Depending on the light, it looks green or grey. Purchased in 2006 with 166,498 miles out of Maryland. The body is rust free and straight, but has a few chips and a door ding or two befitting the mileage. The air conditioning blows cold air. The 3.2 Liter engine was completely rebuilt over the winter of 2007-08 and back in the car June 8, 2008. The engine was disassembled and reassembled at a local used car dealer, with the heads being sent out to EBS racing in Reno for a total rebuild. All new bearings, cam chains and basically every nut and bolt was replaced and new rings fitted, alternator replaced, all belts, etc. Mileage at rebuild 167,744. Current mileage 175,090. Tires and brakes only have a few thousand miles on them and battery replaced last year. This car is ready to drive, and all kinds of fun. Car has been stored winters, never seen snow or salt has been stored from early October to late April each year which is one part of why I am selling. I just have not used it much. I have a bag of receipts both from previous owners and myself that will go with this car. I will work with the buyer to assist getting the car to a shipper. This is a no-reserve auction so somebody will drive this car away at the end of the auction.
NOTE:
Convertible top is currently a manual lift top. The locking motors work perfectly, but the cables that raise and lower the top have not been reliable so I am selling it as a manual top. Driver's seat has a small tear on a stitch line, otherwise very good. Selling cheap so you can drive it as is or make it concours.

Porsche planning Cayman GT4 racer
Fri, 10 Oct 2014To say that Porsche is big in racing is like saying that Warren Buffett dabbles in mergers and acquisitions. But while it fields the 919 Hybrid at Le Mans and in the FIA World Endurance Championship, the bulk of its racing activities are undertaken by private teams that buy customer racecars from the factory. Those in turn are largely based on the 911, but the latest intel from the motor racing world indicates that Zuffenhausen is planning a more accessible customer race car.
The new, more affordable competition car is to be based on the Cayman and built to GT4 specifications, slotting in below the 911-based GT3 Cup, GT3 R and RSR. Autosport reports that Porsche has already developed a prototype and will shortly commence testing. Details are scarce at the moment, but the Cayman GT4 would seem to compete against the likes of the Aston Martin Vantage N24, Nissan 370Z Nismo GT4 and Maserati GranTurismo MC. It will also likely help Porsche foster enthusiasm for a potential road version that's already been spotted undergoing testing. Previous GT4 racing conversions of the Cayman, like the one pictured above, were carried out by third-party racing constructors not recognized by the factory.
Porsche may not be the only one showing interest in the category, however. BMW is said to similarly be considering a GT4-spec version of its M235i Racing model to compete in the same class, taking the place of the defunct M3 GT4 as the Bavarian marque's entry-level customer racing car.
Magnus Walker pops up again, this time with his Irish Green 911
Sun, 06 Oct 2013He was the subject of a short film called Urban Outlaw. He has been on Jay Leno's Garage. Twice. He even graced the cover of Road & Track in June. And after all of that, he appeared in a video by Hong Kong-based Silly Thing. So it isn't really surprising that Magnus Walker is at the center of attention in the latest video from XCAR, but it's surprising - and a treat - to see his mostly original Irish Green 1966 Porsche 911.
Powered by an air-cooled 2.0-liter flat six with 130 horsepower (more like 120 hp today, Walker says), riding on 5.5-inch wide wheels and turned with a wooden steering wheel, the little green 911 does represent some of the best aspects of classic car motoring.
Head on below to watch the long-form video on Walker and his Porsche, but if your time is limited, you're not missing much if you call it quits at five minutes - especially if you've seen his aforementioned videos before.
Leno, Seinfeld and a Porsche 356/2 featured in latest CICGC
Sun, 19 Jan 2014In the latest kaffeeklatsch known as Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, Jerry Seinfeld pulls Jay Leno out of his garage for a trip to Jones Coffee in Pasadena, CA. The NBC funnyman we've lately seen driving two guest Porsches in his eponymous garage this time takes the passenger seat in a 1949 Porsche 356/2, one of early all-aluminum, hand-built coupes - still in 100-percent original condition - built in Gmund, Austria and nicknamed "Gmunds."
The comedy veterans have known one another for 35 years, so the episode is rich with stories of The Good Old Days. Leno says it is also the first time he's ever had a cup of coffee, and for obvious comedic reasons they start with the civet-stained beans made famous in The Bucket List. You can watch Leno take his first sip below, and have you haven't heard the joke about the goat and the anvil, scroll on down for a listen to that and one or two more jokes besides.
