1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa, this is a one owner car that was a dealer demo for the first 10K or so miles, the owner had it for 26 years and 125K miles. It AutoChecks at an 80. It has spent its entire life in Denver Colorado. The car runs, drives and it looks amazing, with just 135,315 original miles in 27 years.

I had the PPI done by Eisenbud's in Denver, they discovered that the car had no frame or structural damage but the driver's side quarter was completely replaced and repainted. The paint match is good, I have included some additional pictures of ware the door jam meets the quarter. It's the only place you can tell there was a re-spray. The rest of the PPI was without issue, with a positive leak down test. It runs flawlessly from clutch to red line. The clutch has 5315 miles on it, and the 915 with the factory short shift set up, shifts through the gears with no effort, no funny noise or synchro issues.
The outside color is Marmorgrau, thats Marble Gray in english. This was a special order car in 1986, this color was not offered in the 1986 model year but it's original to the car. The original paint comes with the metropole blue interior. The interior is nearly perfect, there is a little ware on the drivers seat bolster. The targa top has been rebuilt, it looks and functions like new. The dash is cracked in two places, but they are easily sourced out for recovering. I put new oil lines in, complete tune up to include new plugs and wires, the motor is dry. I had the window frames lifted, new door stays with backing plates and resealed the targa's cab. New lift struts for the bonnet and the tail. It has a Blaupunkt am/fm/cd with 4 new Polk Audio speakers in the doors and back deck. I have the original Blaupunkt cassette, speakers and grills. I replaced the original steering wheel with a period perfect original black wheel, but the original blue steering wheel with elevated hub comes with the car.     Everything on this car works as it should including the AC. The options list includes 018-sport steering wheel with elevated hub, 158 monterey radio package- up dated with a Blaupunkt am/fm cd player, I have the original Blaupnkt cassette unit, 220 - 40% locking differential, 241- factory short shift gear travel, 395- 16" fuchs, only one wheel has any rash and its very minimal, with near new tires. 424 - automatic heat control 454 - cruise control. This targa comes with ac, pw and power drivers seat. Thanks for taking a look, good luck bidding.

Mark Webber hospitalized as Porsche takes first WEC victory, Toyota wins championship [UPDATE]

Mon, Dec 1 2014

It was a mixed bag for the Porsche team at the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo this weekend – the last race of its first season in the FIA World Endurance Championship. On the one hand, the German team took its first win since launching its LMP1 effort at the start of this season. On the other, its star driver suffered a massive crash that left him in the hospital. The crash occurred with less than half an hour to go when Mark Webber, who was running sixth in the #20 Porsche 919 Hybrid, lost control at Turn 14 at the Interlagos circuit – the same spot where he crashed his Jaguar F1 car during the 2003 Brazilian Grand Prix – and crashed tail-first into the barrier. Both Webber and Matteo Cressoni (driver of the #90 Ferrari 458 Italia with which Webber collided) were evacuated to the trackside medical center and were then taken to the nearby Hospital Bandeirantes. Both were reportedly conscious throughout but are undergoing further testing, described as being in "satisfactory" condition by the FIA medical official on the scene. The occurrence of the crash so close to the end of the race, and the time it took to clear the wreckage, meant there was not enough time for a restart, so the race was completed under the safety car. But when the field did cross the finish line, it was the #14 Porsche 919 Hybrid driven by Romain Dumas, Neel Jani and Mark Lieb that took the checkered flag – marking the first time that Porsche has won an endurance prototype race since 1989. Of course, that solitary victory was not enough for Porsche to take the title, which went to the Toyota TS 040 driven by former F1 drivers Sebastien Buemi and Anthony Davidson, who finished the race in second place ahead of the Audi R18 E-Tron Quattro driven by the retiring Tom Kristensen and his co-pilots Lucas di Grassi and Loic Duval. Top honors for the season in LMP2 went to Sergey Zlobin for SMP Racing in the Oreca-Nissan, while Ferrari took the GT title. UPDATE: Mark Webber released the following statement on his condition: "I'm quite sore this morning, am pretty bruised and have got a stinking headache. I've got no recollection of the accident or how it happened. The team is looking into the details to find out more.

China may surpass US as Porsche's largest market this year thanks to Cayenne

Thu, 09 Oct 2014

China has already surpassed the United States as the world's largest automotive market, so it's no surprise that one day soon it will be the world's largest Porsche market.
In fact, that day may already be here, as the PRC's Porschephiles outbought their American counterparts in September. Porsche's Chinese dealers sold 4,344 cars last month to America's 3,607. Through all of 2014 so far, though, the US is still the larger market for the German brand.
"The U.S. performed very well this year, after a great year in 2013, but China is growing fast, thanks to the Cayenne which is our best seller there," Porsche's sales and marketing boss, Bernhard Maier, told Automotive News Europe.

Porsche previews new 911 in development

Thu, Jul 23 2015

Porsche has taken the rather unorthodox step of releasing a series of photos of a new vehicle before it reveals it in full, sans brightwork and covered in dirt. That model, as you can see, is the new 911, expected to feature a number of upgrades and some big changes over the 991-generation line it will replace. The photos give us an advance look at the update, with more details to follow. Likely to be dubbed (unofficially) as the 991.2 or 991.5, the new 911 will encompass the usual array of visual updates: revised bumpers, headlights, rolling stock, interior equipment... the works, as we saw from the most recent batch of spy shots. But the biggest change will be under the hood, where Porsche is expected to fit a new family of downsized, turbocharged flat-six engines to replace the naturally aspirated units in the current models, likely with more power and improved performance to boot. We expect the launch of the new 911 to kick off a raft of new versions to follow, including coupes, convertibles, and Targas (as you can see from the photos), as well as rear- and all-wheel-drive versions in various states of tune. The current generation, after all, bred a about two dozen versions, and you can bet the new one will lead to just as many, from the base Carrera all the way up to the Turbo. That will (as in the all-turbo Macan range) likely remain the flagship model, even after the forced induction no longer sets it apart. The GT3, GT3 RS and a new purist model are expected to be the only hold-outs for atmospheric pressure, but the widespread adaptation of turbocharged power will put another degree of separation between the new 911 and the naturally aspirated, air-cooled models of old. For more details, we'll have to wait until Porsche reveals the full monte, but for a taste of what's to come, look no further than the 19 high-resolution images in this slideshow.
