This is an original Triple Black 1985 911 Carerra Cabriolet 3.2L 5 speed manual. Interior was removed, stripped to bare metal, rust treated, soundproofed and reinstalled with new Sliverknit carpet ( hand cut in belgium not knock off crap), all needed interior trim and seals, all real porsche new old stock parts. Basically this car spent 3 solid months being gone over every inch with the philosophy to replace anything bad with new OE Porsche parts. tons of video and photos avail to the winning bidder on the interior restoration, undercarriage, trunk and misc. Anyway a picture is worth a thousand words. So please look at the HD pics, ask questions, etc etc. I have not seen a triple black cab in the country in this condition. Turn the key and go. It drives as equally perfect as it looks. A few notes: the 85 and 84 Carerras were 3.2L matched with the 915 5 speed trans. "The differance is subtle, A good 915 is as easy to shift as a g50 IMHO; the gates are a little more vague in a 915. A slow and deliberate shift is recommended in any 911. The shifter responds well to gentle inputs as does the entire car for that matter. Careful modulation of all the inputs of a 911 is rewarded. I have no problem whatsoever with a 915 and see little advantage over a G50. I do like the hydrolic clutch for stop and go traffic, but again, a properly adjusted clutch in a 915 is a breeze to live with. There seems to be a bit of an obscession over the G50 cars as "better" than a 915 varient and I feel it is not well founded. The charm of the Carrera over the SC is quantifiable in many ways beyond the gearbox. Even then, the divide between the two is small. ( borrowed from reenlist, said perfectly). " 1985 was a year of few options as the yuppies had not taken over the ordering as of yet. It has what to needs. Cruise in it or track it! These are amazing driver cars. The tensioner issues were gone from the sc era and the engine got better and better. The top is manual. Easily up and down, no issues. Suspension on this one came with the boge struts and shocks. Front and rear stabilizer bars, nice and tight. Calipers are zinc and not painted. 16 inch wheels, real forged fuchs, not knockoffs. New rubber. New boot, top, seals, on and on. Everything visible and not ,was heavily detailed, restored or replaced. In 1985 Porsche made 1,050 911 Cabs for the US. As the turbo model was not avail yet, only grey market until 86, the base set up for this porsche with the Turbo whale tale in triple black was a favorite amongst dealers and buyers alike. Its 209 HP is easily raised 25% with cat by pass, dme upgrade, but this car is 100% stock. The strut tower brace is aftermarket and a great idea on cabs. Easily removed. Driven about 400 miles to dial it in and cause its there and I can't resist. But really to ensure all is working well. Clean CA Title in hand and just passed CA smog. Many of these 911's have assignment titles and here you will have no problem registering your car or knowing its for real! Porsche Certificate of Authenticity included. This is an air cooled treasure and sure to hold and appreciate in value. I am a private party, PCA member for years and have had 14 porsches. Basically this is a labor of love and a lot of fun to do. The reserve is set fairly and this would be a great addition to any collection. I certainly hope someone who wants to drive this, as well gets a hold of it. They need to be driven! JMHO. All inspections and PPI welcome at buyers expense. I will help in anyway with shipping and such, but please if you bid please be ready to buy. As in any older car there are always things to do, but on this one all the heavy lifting is done. Sit down inside this and take a drive with the Blaupunkt playing and that unforgettable feel of a rear engine 80's porsche pushing you down the freeway. You will think its a brand new car again in 1985. Doors close perfect, windows are a little green color, power antenna in the windshield, leather is soft and smells like a porsche should. Please note that this car did NOT have rust. Sadly being a convertible the carpet took a beating from the sun and had some serious holes. I really didn't want to change the carpet. I actually kept a few of the slightly faded pieces when it was installed specifically NOT to make this look "too new". New pieces not used will come with the car. The reason for replacing the soundproofing was, it was cracked a lot. Common after 30 years. That will eventually trap water and rust. Plus the new high end carpet feels amazing barefoot and its nice to know everything underneath is clean new and correct. As far as i know this is the original paint. It was represented to me that way and looking at it closely i can see that good ole orange peel and I found no body work. Again do your PPI or etc. Regardless, there are imperfections and some small rock chips etc. I took all the photos with a cannon camera and my iPhone. I didn't even " hit the enhance button". It really shows well. Like i said if you need to see more I will send out any requests. List of parts: total in parts alone approx. 12K. with receipts. No games. Recharge Wrap-up: Tesla Model X towing drag race, Porsche 918 salvage auction

Wed, Mar 23 2016

Watch an Alfa Romeo 4C drag race against a Tesla Model X towing an Alfa Romeo 4C. The ridiculous (or, perhaps more appropriately, ludicrous) race appeared in MotorTrend's Instagram, which was then shared on Facebook by Tesla Motors Autopilot Program Director Sterling Anderson, along with the comment, "Fun fact: many high-performance cars cross the quarter mile line faster when towed by a Model X than they do on their own four wheels." While we can't quite see the actual results of the drag race in the video, it appears to be a close one. Check it out in the video above, and read more from Electrek. A Porsche 918 Spyder has gone up for auction. Unfortunately, it's a salvage auction, and said performance plug-in hybrid is totally mangled. The gut-wrenching photos reveal an even sadder detail, as the car's odometer shows it only logged 92 miles before being involved in what appears to have been a terrible wreck (though the listing describes the miles as "not actual"). The current bid on the Copart auction site is up to $106,000, and the listing shows a $600,000 repair estimate. The very expensive hunk of metal and carbon fiber is located in Long Island. Check out the listing for yourself, or read more at MotorAuthority. GKN Driveline says that German drivers are more interested in plug-in hybrids (especially with all-wheel drive) than conventional hybrid cars. In a poll of more than 1,000 drivers commissioned by GKN, 75 percent preferred PHEVs to standard hybrids, while 61.2 percent said that 50 kilometers (31 miles) of electric range is enough for their daily driving duties. About 81 percent are "wary of hybrids," most believing them to be a poor value. 52 percent said their ideal car would combine a plug and all-wheel drive. "We believe that plug-in hybrids with all-wheel drive make sense," says GKN Automotive President of Engineering Peter Moelgg, "and the public's positive response to vehicle programmes that offer this combination – like the Volvo XC90 T8 Twin Engine, BMW i8, and Porsche 918 Spyder – can only continue to grow." Read more in the press release below. NEW RESEARCH REVEALS GERMAN DRIVERS PREFER PLUG-IN HYBRIDS Lohmar, Germany, 22 March 2016: Drivers now consider plug-in hybrid vehicles to be more attractive and practical than conventional hybrids, a survey commissioned by GKN Driveline has revealed.

Magnus Walker soliloquizes in his Porsche 911 at night

Fri, 23 Aug 2013

Magnus Walker, a prolific Los Angeles clothing designer who has also carved out a respected spot for himself in Porsche world, has had yet another video made about him and his sizable Porsche collection. In this latest video, Hong Kong-based Obscura magazine focuses its video cameras on Walker and his 1971 Porsche 911 track car (yes, the one that appeared on Jay Leno's Garage) as he speeds around Downtown LA and Little Tokyo late at night.
We've heard Walker's story many times before. He's not like the average Porsche owner, perhaps a tad more passionate than most, and he builds 911s like he designs clothes: his way. Sure, we might be a little envious, but can you blame us? View this very slick and entertaining nighttime video entitled Disturbing The Peace below.

2015 Porsche Macan Turbo

Mon, 06 Jan 2014

The misinformation first started back in May of 2007 - more than six years ago - when word came that Porsche was developing a compact utility vehicle to fill out its product line. Rumors swirled that the German automaker's future "Roxster" would be based on the then-upcoming Audi Q5. By September of 2010, the name had changed to "Cajun," but the vehicle was still expected to be "based heavily on the Audi Q5," said reports in the months that followed. One year later, the first test mules were spotted, the mechanics hidden beneath barely disguised Audi sheetmetal, which did nothing to give the upcoming model its own identity. And even after Porsche announced "Macan" as the vehicle's production name in early 2012, articles stated that it would "arrive on the same chassis as the Audi Q5, though with suspension, brake and engine tweaks suitable to the Porsche range."
It's no wonder that most still consider the all-new Porsche Macan nothing more than a heavily massaged Q5.
To help lift some of the mystery surrounding its latest release, Porsche hosted us in Germany for an in-depth look at its new crossover (while Europeans call it a "sport utility," its car platform allows us to call it a proper CUV). The technology workshop offered us insight to the design and mechanical execution, and it concluded with a short test ride. The trip was both enlightening and educational - and it left us with a whole new perspective on the Macan.
