I am selling this car for my brother who has recent health issues. I am not a Porsche expert, but I am an enthusiast I will do my best to answer any and all questions but there are a lot of things I may not know
Overall- This is a clean, nicely running, reliable car. It looks very good from 10 feet and fantastic from 20. I (and several other car guys and professionals) can find No Evidence that this car has ever had a repaint. There is no rust or rust repair evident anywhere. There are a couple door dings and chips, many on the front bumper, and somewhere along the line some dope shut the trunk with an object in it that left a quarter sized upward dent- that would be the biggest defect the body has. It is solid and dry and honest. The paint is still quite strong and other than the hood and front bumper it really is very good. The car runs out quite well, it had been in storage for years and the shift linkage was somewhat sticky. It has gotten better with use but someone who is familiar with these things can probably get it better still. The motor runs and pulls strong and starts instantly, hot or cold. There is no excessive smoke. It leaks a couple nickel sized spots after it sits for a week or so. The a/c compressor and I think the condenser are missing but this was an a/c car and the lines are there. The heat, defrost, lights, etc. and all other controls work as they should. The clock does not. The seats are in very good condition, the carpets are original and should be replaced to get the interior up to snuff. The car drives, stops and turns straight and true and can be driven long distances with confidence. The floor plans look perfect The steering wheel and stereo are aftermarket and average and I would return them to original. The top is in pretty good shape, some of the brightwork on it should be replaced but the fabric is quite good. The rubber pieces on the body exterior are showing their age and could be replaced over time. Really.. with these items addressed this could be a Remarkably Nice survivor 911 Cab..and it is perfectly usable as is. Drive it just like it is and make it nearly perfect as time permits. That was my brothers plan- now it can be someone else's
On Nov-04-13 at 12:32:05 PST, seller added the following information:
I should have mentioned The car does have the original manuals and service records. They are not complete but there is some substance there- new rear axles etc I did add a picture as I got several questions on those. thanks |

Which is quicker in the standing mile, a Subaru WRX STI or a Porsche Cayman?
Thu, 26 Jun 2014The 2015 Subaru WRX STI and 2014 Porsche Cayman are both saddled with unfair reputations. The STI with its huge wing and gold wheels has the title of the ultimate boy-racer. On the other hand, Porsche brand snobs look down on he base Cayman as just a wannabe 911. In reality, they are both pretty fantastic performance cars. But what would happen if the two of them lined up at a stoplight, and maybe the guy in the suit in the Cayman started throwing some revs at the young man in the STI? Automobile decided to find out in a recent video pitting the two stereotyped hot rods against each other in a standing-mile drag race.
In terms of raw numbers, they are surprisingly close. Both use flat engines and six-speed manual transmissions here, but the Subaru has more power and torque. However, the Porsche makes up for it with 300 pounds less weight. Neither should have a problem with traction either thanks to the STI's sophisticated all-wheel-drive setup, and the Cayman's mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout.
The comparable specs certainly show themselves in the real world for the race. We're not going to give away the winner here because it's too exciting, but let's just say the finish is very, very close. Scroll down to watch both of them shrug off their stereotypes and show off their real performance.
Porsche-Piech buy 10% stake in VW's holding company
Tue, 18 Jun 2013In August, 2009, as the scuttled merger of Porsche and Volkswagen had gone bad and Porsche was backed up against the ropes, Porsche Automobil Holding SE (PAHSE) relinquished a ten-percent stake in itself to Qatar Holdings as well as options it held on 17 percent of VW shares. The sale meant that, for the first time since the founding of the company 61 years before, an entity outside the Porsche and Piech families had a say in the running of PAHSE.
Buying that ten-percent stake back returns full ownership to the two families, the holding company's sole possession being ownership of 50.7 percent of VW's common shares. The price paid wasn't disclosed, but at market rates the purchase would be worth close to $1.25 billion. Qatar intends to hold onto the 17-percent stake it has in Volkswagen.
Consumer Reports selling its road-tested roadsters [w/video]
Thu, 31 Jan 2013Here's a chance to acquire a celebrity-owned vehicles, and this time at a discount instead of a premium. So the celebrity in this case is Consumer Reports, that magazine that could be equally adored and abhored by car enthusiasts. CR buys all of its test vehicles and usually finds willing second owners within its own ranks, but its opening its small used-car lot to the public. On the forecourt are four roadsters: an automatic 2012 Audi TT 2.0 TFSI Quattro S-Tronic with 6,600 miles for $36,500, a manual 2012 BMW Z4 sDrive28i with 8,400 miles for $45,000, a manual 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK250 for $39,500 and a manual 2013 Porsche Boxster with 7,000 miles for $48,000.
Those numbers mean a savings of $9,000 to $10,000 before haggling - each car is listed with an "Asking price" so there could be some wiggle room if you show up with pockets full of dough and eyes full of serious intent. Since the money CR earns from the sales go back into the magazine's budget to buy more test cars, however, it probably won't take any oddball trades, so you can forget about getting any purchasing help from that track-day AMC Javelin project on blocks in the back yard.
The vehicles have been taken care of and spiffed up for sale; buyers will take delivery at the CR test track in East Haddam, Connecticut and get a tour of the facilities. While you're there they'll even take you on a lap around the track so you can feel how your car handles when driven by one of its testers. They will probably not help you with advice on which toaster and dehumidifier to buy - you'll still need to get a subscription for that. Have a look at the video below to see a day in the life of a CR test car.
