This absolutely stunning Porsche was built by one of the most knowledgeable and passionate enthusiasts around. The
donor car was an accident free, rust free '81 SC Coupe.
The entire car was stripped of every removable part. That includes wiring, glass, doors, fenders, gas tank, all
suspension, transmission, engine and the complete interior. Please check out all the pictures carefully to examine
the perfection of this incredible build! Notice that most of the bolts, nuts and washers have been yellow zink
plated to duplicate the ones used by the factory. The new door panels had the smooth vinyl removed so that the
basketweave pattern would match the seats. Incredible attention to detail!
The "hottest" segment of the air cooled Porsche market is the RS/ST Tribute cars, also known as "Outlaws", "Hot
Rods" and "R" Gruppes! Several builders are charging $300,000 to $600,000 with back logs of three years. This car
is every bit as exciting as their cars at a fraction of the prices. This car is now like an ST. It has the ST front
bumper and steel rear decklid. It comes with a painted "Ducktail" rear wing and a painted front "RS" spoiler as
used on a '73 RS. It would be a very handsome "RS" Tribute with the addition of "Carrera" side stripes as on the
"RS's.
This is the perfect vehicle in which to attend the many "Cars and Coffee's" that take place around the country. It
surely would be the "Star" of each event!
Here are the highlights:

Automakers paying Chinese dealers for lower-than-expected sales
Sat, Jan 10 2015The Chinese dealers vs. foreign manufacturers story won't quit. It began with a story on the struggles faced by FAW-Toyota joint venture dealers, with supposedly 95 percent of the showrooms losing money, and 10 percent of them doing so poorly that they'd have to exit the business. The problem is mandated sales targets, most set when the country's economy was racing. Now that things have slowed, China's dealers are swimming in unsold cars and the costs to keep them. In the case of FAW-Toyota, dealers asked Toyota to hand over 2.2 billion yuan ($355 million) to help address the situation. That was followed by a report noting the issues that Honda, BMW, and Nissan dealers are having with the same issue, revealing that the Chinese Automobile Dealers Association (CADA) had taken the highly unusual step of writing to the Chinese government to complain. Now Reuters reports that CADA is not only pressing its case even harder, it's being open about it: it announced that BMW agreed to pay dealers 5.1 billion yuan ($820 million) to alleviate poor profits last year. Unnamed sources said Audi has thrown 2 billion yuan into the kitty for subsidies, and Daimler has contributed "about 1 billion yuan" to its dealers. The battle isn't just about 2014, but how business will be run in 2015 as well: Chinese Porsche dealers have requested the automaker lower its 2015 target of 64,000 cars, which would be a 40-percent increase on its 2014 sales of 46,931 vehicles. One analyst called it "shocking" that the CADA has taken its fight public, while CADA comments continue to imply that dealers have been railroaded to the cliff's edge without recourse. "Due to the difference in status," it's deputy secretary said, "individual dealers are not willing to, or don't dare to, talk frankly with the carmakers...." Both parties need one another, so they'll figure out a way to make it work – but that could mean acknowledging the Chinese market is behaving more like a mature one, not an emerging one. Porsche inspecting 2,500 Euro-spec Macans for damaged brake boosters
Thu, 29 May 2014Porsche is investigating a potential brake issue with 2,500 of its new Macan CUVs. The inspection focuses on the state of the brake systems following tests that discovered the brake boosters may have been damaged during assembly.
Porsche has pointed out that, despite the concern, the affected Macans still meet safety regulations. The issue is predominantly found in European-spec Macans, which according to Porsche, have been delivered to consumers. Owners of affected vehicles in Europe will be notified and asked to come in for a brief, no-cost inspection.
American consumers, though, have no reason to worry. We reached out to Porsche Cars North America, who confirmed that the vehicles in question were assembled before US-spec cars were screwed together.
Porsche Macan to debut at LA Auto Show
Wed, 29 May 2013Auto Express reports Porsche will unveil the upcoming Macan SUV at this year's LA Auto Show. Citing an unnamed "insider," AE says that the five-door will bow with engines, suspension and interior architecture that will help differentiate it from its Audi Q5 chassis mate. Big shocker there. We've been hearing the same line since we first caught word of the Macan back when it was still rolling around under the Cajun name. The report does shed some light on the model's pricing, however. That same insider says the Porsche Macan will carry a price tag of 36,000 pounds.
What does that mean for American buyers? Do some quick math based on current conversion rates, and average UK and US prices, and we come up with a sticker of roughly $42,000 here in the land of the free. That fits in line with the rest of the company's stable, with the larger Cayenne starting at $49,600.
Still, we'll wait for more concrete word before jumping behind the AE report wholeheartedly. The 2013 LA Auto Show gets going in late November.
